so matt's absolutely giving scorched earth orders behind the scenes right. Not only are publically visible transfems dropping like flies, but every third person who musters up the audacity to comment negatively on Staff or Matt about this vanishes fucking instantly

I find a lot of arguably mean things funny, but there's a special place in my heart for hardcore hipsters who insist they love tea despite having no idea how to brew it and just choking down that hot bitter disaster while insisting it's God's gift to man

while everyone's rightfully talking about oppenheimer and its flaws regarding the erasure of japanese and native american voices regarding nuclear testing and detonations, i'd like to bring up the fact that pacific islanders have also been severely impacted by nuclear testing under the pacific proving grounds, a name given by the US to a number of sites in the pacific that were designated for testing nuclear weapons after the second world war, at least 318 of which were dropped on our ancestral homes and people. i would like if more people talked about this.

important sections are bolded for ease of reading. i would appreciate this being reblogged since it's a bit alarming how few people know about this.

in 1946, the indigenous peoples of pikinni (the bikini atoll) were forcibly relocated off of their islands so that nuclear tests could be run on the atoll. at least 23 nuclear bombs were detonated on this inhabited island chain, including 20 hydrogen bombs. many pasifika were irreversibly irradiated, all of them were starved during multiple forced relocations, and the island chain is still unsafe to live on despite multiple cleanup attempts. there are several craters visible from space that were left on the atoll from nuclear testing.

the forced relocation was to several different small and previously uninhabited islands over several decades, none of which were able to sustain traditional lifestyles which directly lead to further starvation and loss of culture and identity. there is a reason that pacific islanders choose specific islands to inhabit including access to fresh water, food, shelter, cloth and fibre, climate, etc. and obviously none of these reasons were taken into account during the displacements.

200 pikinni were eventually moved back to the atoll in the 1970s but dangerous levels of strontium-90 were found in drinking water in 1978 and the inhabitants were found to have abnormally high levels of caesium-137 in their bodies.

i'm going to put the rest of this post under a readmore to improve the chances of this being reblogged by the general public. i would recommend you read the entirety of the post since it really isn't long and goes into detail about, say, entire islands being fully, utterly destroyed. like, wiped off of the map. without exaggeration, entire islands were disintegrated.

as i just mentioned, ānewetak (the eniwetok atoll) was bombed so violently that an entire island, āllokļap, was permanently and completely destroyed. an entire island. it's just GONE. the world's first hydrogen bomb was tested on this island. the crater is visibly larger than any of the islands next to it, more than a mile in diameter and roughly fifteen storeys deep. the hydrogen bomb released roughly 700 times the energy released during the bombing of hiroshima. this would, of course, be later outdone by other hydrogen bombs dropped on the pacific, reaching over 1000 times the energy released.

one attempt to clean up the waste on ānewetak was the construction of a large ~380ft dome, colloquially known as the tomb, on runit island. the island has been essentially turned into a nuclear waste dump where several other islands of ānewetak have moved irradiated soil to and, due to climate change, rising seawater is beginning to seep into the dome, causing nuclear waste to leak out. along with this, if a large typhoon were to hit the dome, there would be a catastrophic failure followed by a leak of nuclear waste into the surrounding land, drinking water, and ocean. the tomb was built haphazardly and quickly to cut costs.

hey, though, there's a plus side! the water in the lagoon and the soil surrounding the tomb is far more radioactive than the currently contained radioactive waste. a typhoon wouldn't cause (much) worse irradiation than the locals and ocean already currently experience, anyway! it's already gone to shit! and who cares, right, the only ""concern"" is that it will just further poison the drinking water of the locals with radioactive materials. this can just be handwaved off as a nonissue, i guess. /s

at least 36 bombs were detonated in the general vicinity of kiritimati (christmas island) and johnson atoll. while johnson atoll has seemingly never been inhabited by polynesians, kiritimati was used intermittently by polynesians (and later on, micronesians) for several hundred years. many islands in the pacific were inhabited seasonally and likewise many pacific islanders should be classified as nomadic but it has always been convenient for the goal of white supremacy and imperalism to claim that semi-inhabited areas are completely uninhabited, claimable pieces of terra nullius.

regardless of the current lack of inhabitants on these islands, the nuclear detonations have caused widespread ecological damage to otherwise delicate island ecosystems and have further spread nuclear fallout across the entirety of the pacific ocean.

while the marshall islands, micronesia, and the surrounding areas of melanesia and polynesia were (and still are) by far the worst affected by these atrocities, the entirety of the pacific has been irradiated to some extent due to ocean/wind currents freely spreading nuclear fallout through the water and air. all in all, at least 318 nuclear bombs were detonated across the pacific. i say "at least" because these are just the events that have been declassified and frankly? i wouldn't be shocked to find out they didn't stop there.

please don't leave the atomic destruction of the pacific out of this conversation. we've been displaced, irradiated, murdered, poisoned, and otherwise mass exterminated by nuclear testing on purpose and we are still suffering because of it. many of us have radiation poisoning, many of us have no safe ancestral home anymore. i cannot fucking state this enough, ISLANDS WERE DISINTEGRATED INTO NONEXISTENCE.

look, this isn't blaming people for not talking about us or knowing the extent of these issues, but it's... insidiously ironic that i haven't seen a single post that even mentions pacific islanders in a conversation about indigenous voices/voices of colour being ignored when it comes to nuclear tests and the devastation they've caused.

I originally included colloidal silver spray because of the linked study and recommendation from RTHM, but I don't want to be pointing people toward something with notable health risks. HQ BOYS WHO DON’T WANT TO LET YOU GO

aka. clingy boyfriends (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)

SUNA: “no, don’t you dare move that arm.” the words that come out of his mouth seem to halt you from your actions, surprising you for a fact that he knows you were going to move from your current position below him. his body lay on top of yours and face buried on the crook of your neck as your arms encircle around his much larger frame. you sigh, “rin, i’m suffocating, you dumbo. get off me, we can just switch positions right?” wrong. you hear him grunt from your neck, sending vibrations through your skin as he doesn’t show any sign of moving at all. he lowly murmurs against your neck, “then suffer.” having the audacity to nuzzle his face further against your skin as if he’s not close enough anyway. and again, you sigh. “please, baby?” you plead. a moment of silence comes forth between you two and you start to assume he’s contemplating in silence. but then he opens his lips, “no. you signed up for this eversince the day you told me you’re mine. so suck it up, bun.”

USHIJIMA: it’s become a routine how you walk your boyfriend to the gym as his hand hold yours. today was no different, when you reach the doors of the gym, you expect him to release his hand on yours and send you a goodbye. so when it took more than a second for him to let go of your hand, you start to wonder as you stare at him in confusion. “toshi?” you softly call his name, watching him as he blinks, his eyes averting from your face to your intertwined hands. you raise an eyebrow, “practice is about to start. there something wrong?” you inquire, and you could only feel the way his hand seems to tighten its’ hold on yours. and he replies, “i like the way your hand fits mine.” the genuine proclamation truly catches you off guard. and you chuckle, “you’re just noticing that now?” and you watch as a warm smile appears over his features as an unexpected sound of a tiny chuckle escapes from his lips. “no. i truly think about it everyday. but for some reason, today just seems harder for me to let you go.”

AKAASHI: you groan as you lay on bed with keiji, his arms tightly and stubbornly wrapping around your figure as it takes all that you have to escape from his grasp. “keiji, i need to go please?” you whine, and his grip on you only seems to tighten each time you try to resist. your back presses against his chest as you tilt your head up to look at him in the face. “please?” you so tried to give him your best pitiful look, and your boyfriend let’s out a sound of thought, “hmm”, you watch as his contemplating look suddenly alters to a stern expression, “no.” he looks at you as his arms around you tightens once again and you groan, “why n—“ he cuts you off with a quick peck on your head, making you look at him in surprise as a wide grin forms over his features. and he nuzzles his nose on the top of your head, “spare me your forgiveness darling. but i just really love holding you.”

OIKAWA: “forgive me for being too clingy baby, but you’re just so cute!” your boyfriend coos as he has you seated on his lap, his arms wrapping around you like a cocoon and lips puckered to shower you with his kisses. “aren’t you always like this, tooru?” you chuckle, letting him succumb himself to you as he continues to nuzzle his cheek against yours. “my sweetheart, my special one.” he proclaims, making you flustered as you try to hide the way his actions are affecting you greatly. and yet however, nothing comes pass the oikawa tooru. from your lack of reply itself, he only manages to muster up a chuckle, placing a peck on your cheek before his lips are close to your ear. “perhaps, i can’t let you go, honey. this love i have for you is endless and beyond words.”

KUROO: perhaps, he has been deprived of you, or maybe he’s tired from all his work. but as of now, you don’t really find yourself to question the current actions of your boyfriend. his hand cups your cheek as you sit next to him on the couch with your legs laid on his lap. he pulls you in for a soft peck once, then twice, and then he stares at you longingly, his other hand resting itself on your thigh. “your lips are really warm.” he says, then he pulls you closer to give you another kiss again, but this time, he kisses you longer, slower, with a touch of gentleness as he wants to feel every inch of your taste. you practically hear his low hums that manages to send shivers through your spine. when he pulls away, his lips remains brushing yours and he lowly chuckles under breath, “sorry baby. just can’t get enough of you.”

SUGAWARA: your boyfriend positions himself on top of you with his arm resting next to your head, looking at you dearly as if you’re the only precious thing in the planet. upon his gaze, you suddenly feel shy as you turn your head away, trying to hide the flustered look on your face. but of course, your boyfriend, who you couldn’t hide anything from, notices your state as a chuckle erupts from his lips. “oh my, what have i done to see such a beautiful look on you?” he coos, and you swear you hear the thumping of your heart that paces every second you spend in this particular position. before you could even reply, you feel the warm sensation of his lips against the soft skin of your cheek as he lets his lips linger there for a moment, “i have to be honest with you honey, i don’t think i could ever let you go with such beauty you behold.”

IWAIZUMI: his arms wrap around your figure as you sit on his lap, the two of you cocooned by each others warmth. you hold his cheeks with both of your hands, and he gazes at you with a flustered look—one that’s rarely seen from the iwaizumi hajime. you then lean forward, your lips connecting his temple as you give him a soft peck, the gesture surprising him while he stares at you in shock that his cheeks flushes red. you chuckle, “i just kissed you on the temple, chill.” no, but how the hell could he chill? you watch as your boyfriends lips presses into a thin line as a scoff escapes his lips, pulling you closer to him that your face meets the crook of his neck. you then feel his lips lingering on the top of your head, as if to return the gesture. “god, you always make me blush so damn much. i honestly don’t think there’s anyone like you angel.”

Love how tumblr has its own folk stories. Yeah the God of Arepo we’ve all heard the story and we all still cry about it. Yeah that one about the woman locked up for centuries finally getting free. That one about the witch who would marry anyone who could get her house key from her cat and it’s revealed she IS the cat after the narrator befriends the cat.

Writing a fic is an act of love, it’s a letter of adoration - to a character, to a relationship, to a fandom or to a fandom friend, whether it’s a fluff piece or the angstiest bit of angst, it’s always infused with love of some kind. Posting a fic is therefore an act of bravery. What if your love isn’t good enough? Such a freaking scary thought. So to swallow it down and post anyway… Basically, be kind to your fic writers.

My 2020 Reading List - Dramione

This year, I’ve read way more dramione than I’ve ever read, and I’ve been reading it for 7 years now. I even read things, tropes, I had never bothered with before. 2020 may not have been a kind year, but in the dramione community it has been a wonderful year of reading for me. Please be aware I may spoil some plot lines to dramione fanfictions you haven’t read yet. I have tried not to as best as I can. But anyway below is 20 fics I’ve read this year that have been there for me when I needed them. No particular order. Just a lot of love for these fics.

Wait and Hope - by @mightbewriting - memory loss is one of my favourite tropes but this story. I have never cried over a couch before. But this story. From the moment she first awakes in St Mungo’s to that beautiful ending, I was hooked. I loved how the story left me with not really a care about whether or not Hermione got her memories back. Those bloody text messages 💔 a journey I’ll never forget.

The Unofficial Diary of an Omega - MrsRen - my first time reading anything omegaverse. It still isn’t my favourite trope. I much prefer Veela for some reason 🤷🏻‍♀️ but overall it was a good story, just not my thing.

Apple Pies and Other Amends by ToEatAPeach - I actually gave up on this story the first time I read it. Unsure as to why because the story as a whole is just amazing. Baking and dramione? Yes please! Also dealing with their psychological trauma after the war? Heck yes! The relationship in this story develops at a lovely pace. There were moments I was on edge, others I was smiling ear to ear whilst reading this. Definitely one of my favourites now.

In Search Of Sunrise - @indreamsink - actually just reread this and I still get that warm feeling in my chest. So turns out my break up hasn’t made me lose the ability to enjoy dramione falling for each other. Anyway, the story was so heartwarming, like if I were to describe it as anything I would describe it as a hug. The best non-date fic there is.

Sex and Occlumency - Graendoll - this was the start of my slippery slope into reading smut stories. Like I had read smut before, obviously but I didn’t pay it much attention, normally just swiped past 😂 but this one was a completely different story.

Manacled - @senlinyu - this is truly the most beautifully haunting story I’ve ever read. I remember when I first started reading it, I thought to myself, how the hell could I ever ship dramione in this world? Then those flashbacks. Fuck those flashback chapters were a punch in the gut. The way everything links and connects. I love it’s realistic ending. I often think of this story in the shower cause I had to force myself to go shower whilst I read this cause I honestly couldn’t put it down. And SPOILER, but I laughed so hard at a certain characters death even though I probably shouldn’t have but she was such a bitch. I get flashbacks myself of this story. I’ll be in the shower and I’ll remember a certain sentence, a certain scene in my head as if I truly walked with Hermione on this heart wrenching journey. But fuck manacled Harry, I hate that boy.

He Becomes by @abromaposts - I needed this story. This was the first thing I read after Manacled. Draco Malfoy looking after rabbits with the sole reason being to get close to Hermione, yes please. Rabbits are my favourite animals. It’s just so much fluff. And after Manacled I was grateful.

The Right Thing To Do - @lovesbitca8 - this was the bookshop, slow burn, fluffiness I needed in the summer. The start of a truly wonderful universe. Idiots in love, I’ve never went through so much second hand embarrassment. Every interaction between Hermione and Lucius was fantastic. Especially the final one! Every character was written to a way that I loved them so much. Plus this story makes you think (like the rest of the series) it doesn’t spoon fed you information.

All The Wrong Things - @lovesbitca8 - I never thought I’d be into first person POV. The last thing I read like that was The Hunger Games back in school, many years ago. But I truly felt as if Draco were telling me the story. I love how it filled in things we never seen in the first story. I love Draco’s characterisation. Unlike TRTTD, this feels more lighthearted. Could just be the horny Draco though and his dramatics?

The Auction - @lovesbitca8 - this story. where do I start? When I started reading this story I was in a completely different life. This story has seen me through a terrible time in my life. Honestly the last few chapters before the final chapter were a blur and I had to go and reread them cause my head was all over the place but the story. This story, on it’s own, I would say is better than any fiction I’ve ever read 🤷🏻‍♀️ it grips you, pulls you in. Every question you ask, you get answered with a ribbon and bow. I cannot express my love, for this story and for the hard work that has went into it. The characters in this world so vastly different yet similar to the ones we already learned to love. I could write a love letter to this story.

Hindsight by @floorcoaster - if you haven’t been following this year long, monthly updated story, then you’ve really missed out. Each chapter is a month of the year. The story starts with Hermione planning to trim down her calendar for the year ahead. Although it’s fiction it gave me a sense of hope for my future. I had started this year on a different note than Hermione, and I’m now ending it on a different note as well. I think this story does a good job of capturing the passage of time and just how quickly things can change. I also really love these adorable idiots in this story.

Bring Him To His Knees by @willhavetheirtrinkets (WIP) - the best co-worker, friends to lovers, fake relationship story I’ve read. No question. I sent @magicaltraveler3 a tearful voice memo after that last chapter that was posted (chapter 20). It isn’t the first time I’ve cried at a fanfic, but it is the first time that I predicted something bad would happen, but I didn’t expect the bad thing to be what it was. I can’t wait to see where this story goes. At this point I have completely forgot about the murder plot. I know it exists, and we’ll get back to the murder but I’d honestly read the characters in this story eating breakfast.

The Flat In Bath by @adaprix (WIP) - this was the first story I got into that ada has wrote. Instantly I was fascinated with the use of “flat” over “apartment”. Being Scottish I knew this was someone British. Anyway, a very interesting story and I can’t wait to see how the rest of it plays out.

Good by @lovesbitca8 - I am dying for the update of this story. As so many are, it is 🔥🔥🔥 all I can say. I can’t wait for the update!

The Erised Effect by @adaprix - When ada first told me she was thinking about writing a story about Pansy and Hermione working in a sex shop together. Telling me about having the idea of them meeting in the pub and how she “needed to get some filthy smut out of your system”. I didn’t think it would be my thing. Boy, did she prove me wrong!

The Cell by WrathOfMacy - I don’t know how I came to read this one. But damn, this was a good one (who am I kidding they’re all good ones). I’m still reading through it though. It’s a warfic in which Dramione end up locked in a cell together. The relationship builds nicely. I cannot wait to read more of it.

The Melody Of Touch by @magicaltraveler3 - I never knew I needed a dramione story like this story. I love that there is so much musical imagery incorporated into it. I haven’t read anything like it before. The story, the smut, the taxi and the freaking art work. It is everything!

Every Day, a Little Death by @lovesbitca8 - I’ll be honest with this one. I read the first chapter and the last chapter 🙈 BUT only cause everyone scared me so much. I plan to revisit. SPOILER. I may not care too much that Hermione cheated. Just me? Like yeah I hate cheating and she shouldn’t have done it, but like she admitted to it, and was very regretful for it. Anyway, the chapters I read were very interesting I look forward to revisiting it sometime.

Away by @indreamsink - written for the romcom fest and I got to say I think this one may be my favourite from the fest. Not only do you get dramione but you get the amazing side pairing of Harry/Pansy, which this year has really became my favourite side pairing. It’s like reading two love stories at once, I was interested in the dramione plot line obviously, but I was equally interested in the hansy/potts&pans plot line.

The Path Unexpected by @magicaltraveler3 - this story is a cute little domestic dramione fanfic. And I lived for it. It shows dramione going through the process of having a child and honestly, they’re so damn cute in this fic. The fanart is next level also!

Severus Snape was NOT a hero.

Hermione Granger was NOT better than Ron Weasley. (they were equally important, so don’t come at me)

Ginny Weasley is NOT a useless character.

The movies totally ruined the Weasleys.

We deserved to see the REAL Hermione and not just a “PERFECT” version of her.

Harry is an interesting character with a personality.

James Potter was NOT a bad person.

Ron is not dumb or useless either.

Dumbledore was awful.

Hagrid deserves more recognition.

Hiya! I hope you're doing good big sis Sori! I was, maybe beause I was already having a bad day, getting really nervous & upset about the new RR novel. I was wondering if you had an outlook or comfort to give me? You should get that IR post done too!

B-big sister? Ah! I’ll be your big sister for sure! I’ll be everyone’s big sister! I will protect you from an author that lost his love, from the fandoms whose immature view on love can ruin so much, I will protect you from all! So any IR fan who wants and needs anything a big sister should give, here I am!

Now allow your big sis Sori to shed some levity on this situation.

Let me just assume that being upset is a direct result from the faux enthusiasm of the IchiHime and ‘RenRuki’ fandoms.

Let me rephrase. I have yet to see an IchiHime fan who is a genuine RenRuki fan…. I have yet to see an IchiHime fan who is a genuine Ichigo and Orihime fan.

When you fucking spent every waking second prior to chapter 686 calling Rukia “prepubescent,” trying to take away her relevance with your “Kubo could have picked any one else,” reducing her powers to “chucking ice,” calling her fights and defining moments lackluster, pretending she’s weak, convincing your idiotic fandom that Rukia’s past and pain doesn’t apply because you don’t want her to be able to handle Ichigo’s, calling her manly so you can pretend Ichigo doesn’t see her as a woman, saying she isn’t worth Ichigo’s equal etc. you’re not a fan. You’re an asinine schmo and transparent on your beliefs. They can call her ‘Queen’ all they want, but they  don’t give a shit about Rukia and if they’re pushing this “terrible, barely worthwhile woman” to Renji, they don’t care about him either.

Don’t worry or sadden your heart, my little sister. Don’t you see how freakin’ insecure this kind of behavior is? Just think about how many of those exact same ‘fans’ making you nervous now, wasted their perpetually pissed off brain cells slaving away at many a sizable post begging trying to convince themselves and their fandoms that novels like The Honey Dish Rhapsody and the Death Save the Strawberry are fodder material in respects to IchiRuki. Now this new novel comes out and they’ve realized the error of their ways? Ha, no!

Make no mistake, they are not happy because their precious ship may be getting a novel. However, are they pissing their pants because an opportunity to push Rukia away from Ichigo has presented itself? Yeah. And quite plainly that’s where the ‘happiness’ comes from.

Let’s forget their hypocritical ways and focus on The Honey Dish Rhapsodyfor a little.

In particular, I really enjoyed Ichigo cleaning Rukia’s dish and ranting about the eleventh divisions terrible, horrible lack of table manners while Rukia, being so at peace, was lulled into death-deep sleep on the counter. When Ichigo turned back around and thought “What a happy expression you have there…”  and certainly don’t forget the “He [Ichigo] felt deeply that… he was so fortunate to have come to Soul Society, that he was so fortunate to have something to protect.” He thought this looking at a happy again Rukia (an emotion she hadn’t felt in a good 40 some years mind you).

What about Ichigo waking Rukia to go sleep comfortably in her room by shaking her shoulder and “feeling incredibly happy.” ? Followed by the relatable actions of a grumpy after being woken up Rukia. “Bastard! What do you think you’re doing!”

That’s not too shabby.

Or in Death Save the Strawberry (a title Kubo created):

When Orihime was asking Ichigo about his ‘condition’ and trying to reverse him back to a state before his powers left (did you hear that? It was the sound of my tears hitting the ground. Orihime so earnestly tries). That moment revealed to us,  an Ichigo living so deep in his own utter self-damnation and going through the inescapable misery of once again feeling useless because he lost an immense piece of what allowed him to feel worthwhile. His need and what he felt his purpose of existence should be just…wasn’t an option he could carry out anymore.

This scene was very reminiscent of the sadness Keigo brought up to Ichigo, but instead of Rukia being the focus, Ichigo’s powers were. This shoud remind us  that Ichigo is so, SO kind. Y,es it was terribly easy to see that his smile was fake, but he still tried hard (so hard) to pretend he was okay. Down to the “Don’t worry! Thanks for trying your best.”

Then, Orihime sort of curled up and put her head in her knees in disappointment and sadness, because as she thought “I want to help but I can’’t do anything for him..” and ‘I didn’t intend to put that expression on his face!” Then, Rukia comes out, rests hands on Orihime’s shoulders and:

“…..Ichigo has always fought in order to protect something. That is his action’s philosophy, as well as his foundation stone. If it’s a dispute between two people without any special powers, I’m sure Ichigo doesn’t fall behind in that respect. I think that there are lots of people he can protect in that respect too…However, he has now come to know. The existence of people he can’t save with just the power of a human being….For Ichigo whose will to protect is stronger than anyone else’s, it must be an unbearable pain…. Leave it to me.”

Rukia’s been watching Ichigo and caring for him in any way she could manage. She thought “I want to help him. Without any moments delay, by any means necessary.”

His pain must have been hers too. If they share destiny, they share the pain the comes with it.

And there we go again. It’s Rukia, always Rukia that manages to do something for Ichigo. Anti’s can preach all their crap about how the other Shinigami helped, but without Rukia, can you honestly say they would have wanted to?

Save for Rukia, they all, ALL of them, doubted Ichigo. And though it took dramatic measure, so did Ichigo’s human friends.

The Fullbring Arc wasn’t just for sad coincidence or to make a heart-breaking few chapters. It was to show where,how, and what makes Ichigo shine.         S-H-I-N-I-G-A-M-I.

You know what? For anti’s that claim he only wants power…he had power, a form of it.

But Rukia, who cares for Ichigo and places his well being and happiness above the value of her own life, above the feelings of happiness she finally experienced in being with Ichigo and company in the world of the living, above the well being of her former best friend and the prestige of her brother, above the chances of her brother being dealt bodily harm, above the scorn of her peers, and that Rukia knew Fullbringer wasn’t enough. Rukia, who knows and has experienced Ichigo’s will more than anybody else, knows that anything short of Shinigami is not enough. If power and any form of it was enough to make Ichigo happy, she would have let him be.

Onwards.

Let’s not forget their complete rejection of Fade to Black, a movie Kubo-sensei had an uncommonly hands-on dedication to. He worked extremely heavily on the movie from concepts to the final product, down to the script and character sketches. ‘”I [Kubo] joined in on production, put together the story and settings after discussing it with everyone…”

When Kubo had to come up with the Japanese subtitle ”Calling Out Your Name” he did it because “I…found that in the plot, someone calling out someone’s name, especially in this story where Ichigo calling out Rukia’s name was a strong expression, that even though no one else remembers you, I do, … I found out it had an important meaning behind it.”

So all the “RUKIAAAGGHHHH” jokes, yeah they actually mean a pretty heavy something. That’s why Ichigo said Rukia’s name so many times in the movie. And why when Rukia finally said ‘Ichigo,’ …well remember that deep sigh of contentment and bliss? That smile and those eyes he gave her? Yeah.

Kubo was also there from start to finish on the creation of the script and the voicing (with heavy input and much of it his original ideas). So quotes like:

“It’s not your injuries hurting you, it’s your heart…”

“Deep inside… I though Rukia would be the one to remember me..”

“Don’t hear me? I’m calling your name Rukia!”

“Ichigo! Even back in the real world you realized something happened with Nee-san! Everyone else may have forgotten about her, but you haven’t! That means you’re still connected!”

“I’m right here Rukia! Try to come back to me!”

“Try to break through to me, Rukia!”

“Rukia… is the one who changed my world!”

“I’m linked…connected… to Rukia!”

“So what’s your relationship with this Kuchiki-san?”                                      “That’s none of your—she’s a very important friend!”

“This time I will be the one to give you strength!”

“Memories aren’t everything! You can’t steal the bond that holds us together!”

Reuse of: “If we fail, both you and I will die together.”

“You saved me again.”                                                                                    “Well, you saved me first.”

“Ya know if death really isn’t an end for us, maybe that encounter wasn’t a beginning. We could’ve been linked much longer. I don’t know for sure, but I feel that a connection once linked will never disappear. So even if we forget everything, our connection will return once again. Maybe it will for you and those siblings too”

“See ya Shinigami, I’m going first.” “I am not a Shinigami. I am Kuchiki Rukia.”

Those quotes got a pass an an A+.

It was a movie he wanted people to focus on. Namely focus on Ichigo and Rukia. “Ichigo and Rukia.I want people to focus on the change in Ichigo and Rukia’s feelings.”

Do I even need to mention the embrace, the casual living together, Kubo wanting to expand on the final speech, the red string of fate?

Then the whole, what now 9 years debate of the “More than friends, less than lovers”?

Which was actually more along the lines of “To say it’s friendship isn’t quite right, but to say it’s an amorous feeling isn’t quite right either. This two have a relationship unlike anything in other works. To be in such close standing and not dive right into romance.”

Such close standing. As in they lived together, they woke up together, they got ready for bed together, they had intimacy in casual things and not only in big, life-changing situations. Ichigo brought Rukia food, they studied for human world tests together, they had funny little adventures (i.e. searching for a body for Kon, Ichigo protecting Rukia from swindling market-men, Rukia being bribed with sweet-bean paste treats into telling Don Kanonji where Ichigo lives and then the two of them bailing on the TV personality and instead took to terrorizing a scaredy-cat spirit, etc.) They were joined at the hip and they learned things about one another no one else could know.

Casual and life-changing. That’ a pretty fantastic relationship.

But, let’s clarify a brushed over point. ‘Amorous’ or the dating/couple angle that was being discussed had to do with sexual desire. More specifically, showing, feeling, or relating to that aforementioned sexual desire.

I don’t think anybody could argue that Ichigo and Rukia are…prudish or contained in that aspect. Sure, Ichigo grew amusingly flustered at Yoruichi sudden nudity, and he was definitely curious about Matsumoto’s implied nudity, and Rukia’s partial nudity was an experience (save for Ichigo’s worry of the diminishing reputation/integrity Rukia and himself would have if people kept assuming they were sleeping together, his reaction at Isshin and Yuzu assuming he had taken Rukia ‘into his chambers to bed her’ or the shameless innuendo Tenjirō Kirinji placed on Ichigo towards Rukia ..I mean “doesn’t it put you in the mood for peaches?”directed at Ichigo is pretty damn suggestive), and yes Ichigo’s feathers were ruffled  with Orihime showing some cleavage, but Ichigo isn’t openly the type of guy to willingly go to into sexually charged situations or act on whatever degree of amorous feeling he may ever be having.

Likewise Rukia telling Ichigo when he claimed to be a moral man in the presence of Matsumoto’s teasing (tell me one person right now who doesn’t adore Rangiku?) that “why don’t you prove your morality by shutting the gap between your fingers”,being clueless about the rumors of her sexual relationship with Ichigo, and her overall modest way of carrying herself doesn’t make her the most sexually aware character in the series.

Sex isn’t the basis Ichigo or Rukia need for a foundation to a possible future romantic relationship.

To compare fairly, even Orihime doesn’t harbor amorous feelings towards Ichigo. It was a pure kind of crush, not a “how can I get him into bed?” kind of crush.

All this is extra by the way, I got that IR post you’ve been wanting coming in a fast-approaching post.

So if the new ‘RR’ novel can half match even the extra without shafting the characters even more? It would be a literary feat.

Now let’s have a talk, sister to sister.

Let’s say this RenRuki novel is amazing. Let’s say it tells us that Renji had an everlasting love and that Rukia missed him everyday. Let’s say that it gave us a play by play of the making of Ichika. Let’s say Ichigo and Orihime are included in there, being God-forbid… lovey-dovey. Let’s pretend the worst happens and the novel says that Ichigo and Rukia grew apart (by some dimensions beyond ass-pull) because of Renji and Orihime.

What more is it gonna do?

Give us two more five panel children?

Fix the canon in the manga?

Change the fact that if Kubo wanted too (and this is even before a legendary manga started deteriorating with these the two canon ships as the tip of the spearhead) these ships and their ‘romantic factor’ would have been heavily (and mutually) emphasized?

Erase that nearly 100% of the work Kubo is most proud of centers around IchiRuki?

Blow up the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of IchiRuki moments?

Make the fact that Kubo loves drawing Ichigo and Rukia together (remember when he was a shipper on national television and when asked to draw Ichigo alone..who was next to him) fly away?

Take away the color spreads and the poems dedicated to IchiRuki (let’s not even mention the infamous speed of the world poem. Lord knows how triggering it can be)?

Shred up the pages where Rukia dries Ichigo’s rain?

Set fire to how Ichigo and Rukia took away each others depression?

Rid us of the point that Rukia has protected Ichigo more than any other character in the manga?

Hypnotize everyone’s knowledge away from knowing Ichigo and Rukia have had more laughs and ridiculous adventures and casual, mundane intimacies than any other characters?

Step on the fact that Ichigo and Rukia and only Ichigo and Rukia share the titles of: King and Queen, Sand and Rotator, Yin and Yang, (Black) Sun and (White) Moon, Death and the Strawberry, the Matching Powers and et cetera,et cetera, et cetera?

Destroy the least subtle parallels I have ever witnessed, I mean I CANNOT BELIEVE Kubo’s lack of finesse , between IchiRuki and Masshin? Aka the love and destiny Ichigo inherited?

Make everyone forget that Ichigo and Rukia are the main two?

Butcher the fact that Rukia was the first character Kubo-sensei created with the intention of becoming the main protagonist and Ichigo was created and built to compliment Rukia because Kubo felt the protagonist role wasn’t for Rukia alone (literally made for her guys)?

Ice that Kubo said he felt Rukia was the protagonist for the Shinigami and Ichigo was the protagonist for the humans?

Rid us of the “Man in my Heart,” “When you’re ready talk to me,” “Despair cannot stop you,” etc. speeches?

Erase the ink strokes where Ichigo and Rukia were thought to have been in a romantic and sexual relationship (on at least 4 different occasions)?

Melt those omake Kubo drew where he shows Rukia and Ichigo spending Christmas and New Years’ together?

Delete the tweets that say thank you for loving my daughter or remove the text that shows us Kubo has freaking color schemes mapped out for IchiRuki?

Make us forget that Renji had a ‘love’ and understanding weak enough to leave Rukia alone for years and years and years? Rukia had no one, she was pulled out of the academy, her brother (Renji’s fucking captain) wouldn’t spare her a look, her lieutenant died, her captain is always sick, she never speaks to anyone, she can’t make friends easy, and what the hell did Renji do? He sat there and hoped that soon his title would impress her enough to believing he was worthwhile again. Why didn’t he go to her on the anniversary of their friends deaths, why when he surely heard the rumors of Hisana did he not go see if his best friend was okay, why when her lieutenant fucking died did he not go comfort her? Why did he let them grow worlds and people apart? Why did he ignore her as badly as Byakuya did? Why was she such a coward for her? Why was he taking her to die? Why did he cut her, why did he choke her, why did he not let her go to Ichigo when she was on her deathbed already? Why didn’t he change until he learned how to treat her better from Ichigo’s example? Why? Because, Renji is not for Rukia.

One Boy, One Shinigami. The Accidental Encounter. The Story of Destiny Begins.

That’s right, nothing else can change my world.

Even though time passes, this bond will never break.

If it can be said that the heart is unchanging, than that is strength.

Things that take you high are not only wings.

When the two that share destiny, part and reunite beyond the frame of time, the ceased clock will awake and begin to tick again.

The rain drags Black Sun down, but the rain is dried by White Moon.

The Sun that locks Heaven, the Moon the eclipses the night.

Ichigo and Rukia.

Oh my God, honestly? What more do we need to get? Would you have been truly happy getting a broken and half-assed title of canon instead of true depth and emotion? Instead of a heaven shattering, through worlds and worlds, soul-deep, we’ll die together-we’ll live together, we’ll fight together, we’ll change the world together love?

Maybe you can look at the outcome like this. Ichigo and Rukia couldn’t be together. You can place whatever forbidden fruit, different worlds, dystopian reason that makes it the most beautiful to you.

Ichigo and Rukia couldn’t be together. But they can’t be apart and they can’t be with others.

At least not beautifully.

We have everything, we can let IchiHime and RenRuki can have their rotten scraps left behind by an uncaring author and a dimensions weaker kind of ‘love’.

Ichigo and Rukia will transcend.

Since no one take notice of me in here I have decided to post whatever the hell I'm feeling, like a public dairy.

The other day I was talking to someone and I was saying how I really want to have a romantic relationship with someone but at the same time nobody deserves the mess I am not the fact that I am suicidal,,,and this person respond to me that it wasn't a big deal, that everyone has at least once though of a way to take their life and that I have just take it a little to far, at that moment I have not idea what to say, I mean he was right I know thinking about dieying isn't exactly a novelty, but at the same time I felt that he was missing something I, myself, couldn't grasp yet, so,,,my mind decided to think hard about it,,,so with my hiperfixection activate I realised what it is really being suicidal,,,at least what it's means to me.

Being suicidal for me is the feeling of disappointment in the morning at realising that I was again wake up in perfect shape and didn't miraculously die in the middle of the night,,is feeling like the worst person in the word, because every time I heard that someone died I feel so envious, I can only think "why isn't me who is dead" it happen the same when I know someone is seriously ill, I'm pretty sure that person is thinking why me and I want to get better, but here I am wishing being that person, to have something that could end my life, I know I simply suck, I mean who wish such things?

Being suicidal is that the only thing keeping me for throwing myself from the roof of my house is the fact that someone will found me and it pretty possibly become local news, and the only reason I don't try to take my life again is the fear of failure, again, but if someone came to me with a gun I would shot myself without a doubt,,,so yes my friend wasn't wrong but he wasn't entirely right either
