When you color/render, do you do it on one layer or are they separated into different layers under the lineart? I’ve been following for a while and I love the way you color pieces, so I was also wondering how you picked the extra colors (lighting colors?) that you put on top of the actual color of the object. It’s a super cool effect! Always happy to see you on my dash

when rendering, it's all in one layer! but when i first set up my colors i use multiple layers before merging them all. here's an example of how i usually set it up:

i make a layer with basic flat colors > set to soft light, then create another layer underneath and paint various colors there ^^ for pieces that are more complicated i would have more layers like another multiply layer for shadows.

for highlights and extra colors it depends on the piece but here's how i usually do it!

and as a general rule of thumb i follow, i very seldom pick a new color after setting up the color palette i want. any extra color is usually eyedropped from somewhere else in the palette i have and then the saturation/value can be pushed all the way up, depending on how much i want it to contrast. some examples!
