i literally write as i go LOL i have never once successfully planned a fic, i’ve tried it goes horribly wrong, it’s just not my thing tbh. i also have 10 different google docs with half finished fics and i just write them whenever i feel inspired to *shrug*

i feel like some ppl have this perception that fanfic writers have this aesthetically pleasing writing process like making bullet points for plot and drinking tea at like 1PM with soft music when in reality i'm literally mixing energy drinks at 1AM in pure silence and trying to make a cohesive story with random lines i thought about before i slept 😭

Kaaaaaaaait, I'm working on my multi chapter fic and I'm worried. I wanna make it gender neutral so everyone can enjoy it but I feel like I'm making the reader too feminine. I chose the screen name "Nova" for them and I've been describing their music in feminine ways. I'm stressing and it's almost 10 PM but I wanna keep writing and I don't know what to dooooooooooo.

i have this problem all the time! i used to write all female readers so when i transitioned to gender neutral i got really nervous about it. hell i still write she/her pronouns sometimes and when i edit i have to find & replace to make it so its all they/them pronouns.

anyways, the point is it's natural to have an idea for a character in your head and get caught up in it, if that's the way the plot was designed and how you perceive the reader, do it! sometimes gendered roles simply fit a plot better, it's nothing to be ashamed about! :)
