Neglect [c.d]

neglect [c.d]

word count: 1.5k

pairing: cedric diggory x reader

warnings: slight angst? idk

a/n: i’m not sure i like the end of this, but i hope you enjoy!

request:  How about some Sirius Black or Cedric Fluff?? :) (requested by @weapinggwillowss)

-

you were sitting in the hufflepuff common room, your homework sprawled out in front of you, though it was long forgotten as your gaze was set intently on the flames burning brightly in front of you.

you were meant to meet your boyfriend, cedric, in the common room an hour ago so he could help you with a potions essay you were particularly struggling with.

with a sigh, you finally tore your gaze from the beautiful fire, a last glance shooting around the common room in search of the boy before giving up and packing up your supplies.

recently, you hadn’t seen much of him. he was currently in his seventh year, a year above you, and he had been swarmed with his duties as a prefect. not to mention he also happened to be fighting in the legendary triwizard tournament as the hogwarts champion, but that wasn’t something you were too fond of.

as his partner, you worried for the boy’s life, knowing well that it was more than possible he came out dead. it didn’t seem to stop him though, and rather than fighting, you chose to support him as best you could (though you did still express your concerns to him privately.)

of course, you didn’t blame him for struggling to find time for you recently. he had quite a full plate, and he was doing amazing at balancing it all. you knew if he could find time for you, he would. he only had two tasks left, and then the two of you could go back to the way things were.

you couldn’t wait for that day, as with every passing day, a feeling of dread worsened as each task grew nearer.

you decided instead to head to the library, knowing you’d find much more quiet there than elsewhere. you spotted hermione, and smiled kindly at her, asking if you could sit with her, knowing full well that the two of you would actually get something done.

she agreed, and you two worked quietly, her managing to help you with the essay your boyfriend was supposed to assist you with. still, hermione was incredibly bright for her age, and had no problem helping.

you worked hard for some time before a first year came bounding into the library, eyes landing on your figure and made his way over.

“excuse me?” he piped, catching both yours and hermione’s attention. “professor dumbledore would like to see you both!” he exclaimed, and you and the girl across from you exchanged confused looks before shrugging and putting your supplies in your bags, thanking the first year and watching him scurry off.

“strange. i wonder what he wants from us?” you spoke, though hermione didn’t answer, as she was just as confused.

you both made your way to dumbledore’s office, seeing the door already open. you climbed the stairs, stepping into his office. you saw ron and a small blonde girl who looked almost identical to fleur in there already, and suddenly you realized this must be for the next task.

you stepped into line with the other two, taking in a sharp breath as you stared at the back of dumbledore’s chair. he briskly turned around, standing in front of the four of you.

“i’m sure you’re all wondering why i brought you here.” you all nodded, “you’re here because you all are of great importance to the champions. i promise, this won’t hurt a bit.” before any of you could respond, everything went black.

cedric searched frantically for his girlfriend, cursing himself for sleeping through their study date. everything had been so much for him, he had been absolutely exhausted and thought taking a small nap would do him good, only one hour turned to three and he had only woken up to see an empty common room.

he asked around, only receiving shrugs in turn from his fellow housemates, meaning she must not have been around for some time. he frowned, guilt flooding his being as he realized he stood her up, again.

he checked her usual hangouts; the library, the courtyard, the great hall. he even found several friends, and seemingly no one had seen her for hours. this worried him, as you knew many people throughout the castle and were always around.

after searching over what felt like the entire school grounds, he retreated back to his common room, flooded with guilt and sadness. as much as he wanted to find you, he had the second task tomorrow, and he promised himself he’d catch you in the morning before he had to leave.

the next morning, he sat in the great hall, his eyes scanning the waves of students in a desperate attempt to find you, though something told him he wasn’t going to be seeing you before the second task.

“mate, you’ve got to eat.” his friend told him, smiling sympathetically, knowing the pain he was enduring. cedric frowned, but did as told. he was the hogwarts champion after all, and though he would much prefer to spend his time looking for you, he knew he had a responsibility and was going to do his best. for you, if anything. maybe then his actions would have some sort of justification.

the excuse sounded lame even in his own head.

the time for the task came much faster than cedric would’ve liked, and he stood with the other three champions, facing the great lake. now standing before it, about to jump in and being so unsure of what to expect, he felt a shiver run down his spine.

it no longer seemed like the warming lake he once thought it to be. it seemed murky, mysterious. scary, even. still, he took a deep breath, readying himself, as did those beside him. he cast a charm upon himself just before the horn blew, and he dove into the dark waters.

when he finally arrived at the merpeople’s village, he froze in shock. there you were, beautiful as ever, your ankle gently tied and holding you down under the water. he quickly shook himself out of his thoughts, nodding to harry who had already arrived, before shooting a spell at the rope and cutting you loose, pulling you to the surface.

you gasped for air, your eyes shooting open and the sound of cheering filled your ears. you turned, looking at cedric, who was smiling down proudly at you. you smiled softly back, and the two of you made your way over to the platform, receiving towels to fight the freezing wind blowing against your soaked clothing.

cedric was being congratulated by students, so you decided to find a quiet place to sit, on the other edge of the platform away from everyone. you smiled, watching cedric’s face light up when he was told he was in first place.

cedric finally managed to slip away from the crowd, making his way over to you. a guilty smile was present on his face, and he looked at you hopefully.

“i don’t suppose you have a minute?” he teased, though you could tell he was nervous by the shake in his voice.

“of course.” you answered, gesturing for him to sit next to you.

he did so, and the two of you sat in silence for a moment before he spoke, “look, y/n. i just wanted to apologize.” you turned to him, a questioning expression on your face.

“for..?” he sighed, running a hand through his wet hair.

“for missing our date.. again.”

you smiled sadly, but forced a more convincing one. “it’s fine, cedric, really-” you tried, but he put a hand up to stop you.

“it’s not fine, y/n. we’ve barely spoken these past weeks about anything other than the tournament, and it’s my fault. i’ve been so busy that i’ve been neglecting you and our relationship. it’s not an excuse, i know. i’m going to make it up to you, if you’ll let me.”

you were speechless, and didn’t know how to respond. everything he said was true, you couldn’t deny it, and a part of you didn’t want to. you were glad he came to his senses.

you smiled, genuinely, and pressed a small kiss to his cheek. “i’d love that.” he lifted an arm, allowing you to move closer to him, resting your head on his shoulder.

he wrapped his arm tightly around your shoulder, and the two of you sat peacefully.

the task ended, and the students quickly filed out of the stands, but the two of you sat unmoving, catching up about everything and anything, other than the tournament of course. you two had had more than enough with that.

you ended up staying long after everyone else, the two of you simply enjoy one another’s company. cedric never took his eyes off you, and gave you his full attention. and this, you realized, was what you missed most about him.

from then on, he promised to always make time for you until the day he died, and that he did. only that day came much sooner than he had planned.

betrayal [s.b]

word count: 1.3k

pairing: sirius black x fem!reader

warnings: none i think, mentions of lily & james. slight angst.

a/n: finally getting back into writing! wasn’t really sure how to end this one though, so let me know what you think!

request: Hey, could you please do a Sirius black imagine where he sees the reader for the first time in an order meeting after he’s escaped. And he’s shocked that she has a little girl who’s like 3 and thinks she’s with someone but he gets told that she is single and then fluff? Or something like that? (requested by anon)

-

“remus, you can’t be serious.” you squeaked, feeling your heart shatter.

“i wish i wasn’t.” he told you, tears cascading down his cheeks freely.

lily and james were dead. peter’s gone missing, and sirius was being taken to azkaban.

you felt your world fall apart in a matter of minutes, crumbling to the ground in a heap. remus tried his best to comfort you, though it didn’t do much as he was in just as much pain as you.

your best friends were dead, and the love of your life was being taken to the worst place imaginable. you were broken, and you were at a loss.

what the hell were you supposed to do now?

the reality was, you never did figure out what to do next. you fled, the pain of living in 12 grimmauld place was too much for you to cope with. you stayed with some relatives in france for the first year, before you met him.

he was kind in the start, always putting you first and before you knew it, the two of you were in love. neither of you were ready for marriage; you’d both gone through rough breakups (even though in your case, you really didn’t breakup, but sirius still held a special place in your heart) and agreed that you would wait until later on.

when you first got pregnant, nothing changed.

it was a year after your daughter was born that you noticed he began to distance himself. he went to work early every morning and stayed late every night. he began to cancel on plans, and when you confronted him, he simply left.

he left you and your daughter, and you never saw him again.

you moved into a smaller flat, just the two of you. you found comfort in her, and she understood very quickly that her father was gone. you two were content with life, that was, until two years later, when came the day you got a letter from remus requesting your assistance with the order.

the mention of the society resurfaced many old feelings, and it scared you more than anything. you didn’t know what to do, but after debating everything, you knew you couldn’t ignore it.

you packed up your daughter and all your necessities, and took the floo network back to your least favourite building; the very one you refused to stay in all those years ago.

you walked out of the chimney, quickly dusting off your daughter and setting her down, hearing some shuffling around before remus walked into the room, slightly taken aback by the sight of your 3 year-old daughter waddling around.

“she’s so big.” he said, walking over and embracing you tightly. you returned the hug, smiling brightly.

“yeah, she is.” you muttered, pulling back and glancing at her in admiration. it was only when you turned back to remus when you saw the bittersweet expression on his face. “what is it?”

“there’s..” he started, sighing deeply. “there’s something i didn’t tell you before you came, y/n.” you didn’t understand what he meant, so he beckoned you over to the living room, where sat the one person who you’d never managed to shake from your thoughts.

“sirius?” you whispered, catching his attention. time seemed to stop as you locked eyes with the love of your life, forgetting for a moment everything he’d done. he stood up, and you quickly ran into his arms, embracing him tightly.

you stood there in silence for a moment, before reality seemed to catch up to you and you pulled away, anger in your eyes. “you betrayed them!” you muttered, disgusted as you stepped away from him. hurt flashed in his eyes, as he switched his gaze towards remus with confusion.

“no, y/n-” he tried to explain, but you quickly left the room, grabbing your daughter and turning to remus.

“how dare you let me bring my child here, with someone as dangerous as him around?” you spat, and before either of them could speak, you stormed out of the building and down the familiar old roads.

“y/n! wait!” you faintly heard remus call, but you held onto your daughter firmly and kept your gaze forward. “he didn’t do it, he was framed!” he called, cause you to hesitate slightly.

you sighed, your heart grasping onto the small ounce of hope remus has bestowed upon you. “oh yeah? how’d that come about then? who killed lily and james, because they’re dead remus! nothing is going to change that; sirius wouldn’t have gone to azkaban had he not done it.” you were screaming and your daughter was crying, you no longer caring.

he’d touched a very sensitive topic, though you knew it was no easier for him. remus reached out, and you allowed him to take your daughter, him calming her tears instantly.

“it’s not safe to talk about here.” he said quietly, trying to divert the small attention your scene had caused. “go talk to him.”

you opened your mouth to protest, but were cut off. “i’ll take her to my place for now and take care of her. please y/n, at least let him explain.” knowing you couldn’t escape this, you nodded and headed back to the dreaded house.

you walked into the room, only to see sirius exactly where he was before you left, only know staring into the blazing flames of the fire. “i’m here now. care to explain?” you spoke, your voice quivering slightly.

you’d always hoped by some miracle, sirius was innocent. you knew him for as long as you can remember; you’d be friends throughout all your hogwarts years, and you were madly in love with each other.

you could never fully cope with the fact he’d betrayed james, his best friend, and lily, your best friend. it simply didn’t make sense; and even after all these years, you still couldn’t piece it together. hence why you sat across from him, and listened to his story from beginning to end.

by the end of his explanation, your head was spinning. “peter betrayed them.. he betrayed us.” you whispered, realization coming over you. you quickly put together everything; you’d not heard remus mention peter’s return once.

he was working with the dark lord. he gave up lily and james. he killed lily and james.

you felt the tears prick your eyes, and before you knew it, you were leaning into sirius, holding him tight and crying into his shoulder. as poor as the situation was, it was nice to finally be back in his arms.

you weren’t sure how long you’d been sitting there, but soon remus walked in, your sleeping daughter in his arms. you smiled at the sight of her, but felt sirius tense under you.

you turned to him confused, but he wouldn’t look you in the eyes. his eyes were trained on your daughter’s sleeping figure.

“could you lay her down somewhere?” you asked remus, softly. he nodded, leaving you and sirius alone together. “i know what you’re thinking.” you muttered, breaking the tense silence.

“what’s that, then?” he asked playfully, but there was some hurt behind his words.

“i met someone, for awhile. it didn’t last though, and i think you and i both know why.” you said, not looking at him directly.

you felt his gaze on you, “yeah? why is that?” he asked, having you sigh. you knew he was playing with you know, you could practically hear the smile he was fighting off.

“because he wasn’t you.” suddenly, he reached under your chin, pulling you to face him.

“i was hoping you’d say that.” he whispered, kissing you gently.

you felt the same butterflies in your stomach that you’d felt all those years ago, and for once since everything happened, you felt like everything was going to be okay.

i’ll show you love [p.p]

word count: 1.5k

pairing: peter pevensie x reader

warnings: insecurities, self-hate

a/n: you are all beautiful, just as you are. seeing all these type of requests hurt my heart, and know if you ever need to speak with someone you are free to message me whenever <3

request:  sorry if I'm bothering you, but I was wondering if I could get Peter with a crush or significant other that thinks their disgusting and ugly for having stretch marks and blemishes? and then proceeds to ignore/avoid Peter because they think they aren't pretty enough? not smut, but angst and fluff maybe? 💛💝 love you! - fellow Hufflepuff ☺️

-

living in narnia was supposed to be out of a fairytale. an escape from the war, somewhere you could feel safe and away from the troubles of your true home. for some, like the pevensies, this was how it was. they were announced as kings and queens of narnia, and each took the responsibilities with great care and precision. even little lucy knew how to properly handle her throne, after a little bit of time.

you had come with the pevensies to narnia, though you weren’t sure if it was meant to be intentional or not. you just so happened to be staying with the professor as well, as your aunt, mrs. macready, was his housekeeper. you’d been invited to play cricket with the four, and happily agreed, since you’d been the only child in the old mansion for too long.

all was going well, you all got to know each other a bit better (well, save for edmund who was pouting most of the time), until edmund hit a ball through one of professor kirke’s windows.

you all quickly ran through the house, gauging the damage when you heard footsteps approaching the five of you. you were trying to find somewhere to hide when edmund led you all to a room you’d never been in before, with a massive wardrobe in the middle.

“you’ve got to be kidding me.” peter muttered, but you all snapped your heads around to the footsteps seemingly just outside the door.

“come on!” edmund ushered, lucy following directly behind him and the three eldest, consisting of you, susan and peter followed behind hesitantly.

the next thing you knew, you were in narnia. of course, you didn't know it then, but you wouldn’t be returning home for many, many years. after the war against the white witch, the five of you were given the titles. the four pevensie siblings were crowned kings and queens, while you were titled the head knight, for your valiant efforts in the war.

you were slightly upset at first when you learned you did not have the titles the others did, but as the years passed and you watched them struggle with the most boring meetings with other lands and endless amounts of negotiating treaties, you really could not find it in yourself to be jealous of their responsibilities. you had your own and you were satisfied with your little efforts to accomplish them.

sometimes however, you felt as though you didn’t belong in narnia. sure, your job was important, but it was nothing edmund himself couldn’t handle. he had been named the best swordsmen in narnian history, and you figured they really could have done everything without you.

today in particular was one of those days where you felt nothing but sadness and insecurity; you knew you weren’t meant to be here. though you wouldn’t admit it, there was a specific reason today of all days was bad for you.

the princess of calormen was visiting to sort out trades with the kings, and you were in charge of ensuring her safety. you had only just been dismissed as she entered her meetings, and you assigned other guards to the room, stating you had important matters to deal with.

no one dared question you, and so you proceeded to your room, to be left alone. the princess was absolutely beautiful, there was no doubt in your mind.

as you’d been watching her throughout her stay, you realized how her gaze always seemed to linger on peter a bit more than others. how she’d bat her eyelashes at him and blush when he kissed the knuckles of her hand, even though edmund did the same and hadn’t had the same effect.

she fancied peter. why wouldn’t she though? he was amazing. he had a title, and so did she. he was beautiful, as was she. and as much as you wanted to dislike her, she was one of the kindest maidens you’d met over your years, and peter was one of the nicest kings narnia had ever seen. they were perfect for each other, you decided.

you and peter had had your moments from time to time; small things that others would have deemed a mutual crush. you had never truly acted on those feelings, however, as you didn’t feel you deserved him.

he was high king, you were only a knight. you weren’t the fairest in the land, hell, you probably looked like scum next to susan and lucy.

your mind drifted to the nights where you and peter would train, under the beautiful narnian sky, just the two of you and the sounds of your swords clashing. those were the times you treasured, but now, seeing as he was probably going to court the princess, you decided it was best for both of you to give each other some space.

--

it had been three days since peter last saw you. he was now bidding farewell to the princess of calormen, who they had finally come to an agreement with. it took many meetings and much convincing, but it was finally decided and now she was returning home.

he thought you were assigned to the princess, but he had been around her for long periods of time during her stay and you had suddenly been replaced with various guards. he was worried, and found his gaze dancing over the goodbye party meant for the princess, rather than focusing on the royal in front of him.

“they care about you, you know.” she spoke, bringing peter’s attention back to the princess.

“pardon me, my lady?” the princess smiled sadly.

“your head knight. i’ve seen the way they look at you, they care about you very much.” she repeated, a knowing smile on her face. “don’t let titles take away what you two have. you’re the high king, you decide what is right and what is not.”

before peter could reply, she curtsied, moving onto bid his younger brother farewell. peter processes her words, straightening his back. he would find you after the party, he was determined.

after what felt like many hours later, peter escaped the crowd, searching the ground for you.

he checked your chambers, the kitchens, the stables, and there was only one last place he thought he’d find you; the training area. he was all but running to the grounds, and upon spotting you swinging at a dummy, he called your name. “y/n!” you turned, obviously surprised, before you quickly began to pack away your things.

“sorry, your majesty. i’ll be leaving now.” you muttered, just as he was close enough to catch what you were saying.

“what? what’s with the sudden use of titles? y/n, you’ve been avoiding me all week. did i do something?” he asked, worry evident in his eyes- one that you refused to see as so. you took it as pity, and began walking away, before he firmly grasped onto your wrist, refusing to let you leave.

“talk to me.” he whispered, and you sighed.

“you should get back to the princess.” you muttered, disappointedly.

“she returned to her land.. y/n, were you jealous?” realization suddenly dawned on peter, and his eyes blew wide when you didn’t answer, only tugging at your wrist in a feeble attempt to escape him. “y/n, she was only here for business purposes-” he started, but you cut him off angrily.

“peter, she’s beautiful! she has a title, a land of her own- she can benefit you in marriage. she’s everything i’m not! you should court her.” you spat, and peter looked taken aback. he truly had no idea you felt this way, and a sudden guilt flooded him.

“do you.. do you think i haven’t courted you because of your title?” he sounded hurt, though you could hardly register it with the tears suddenly pouring down your cheeks.

“that, and look at me peter! i’m not beautiful like her! i don’t have a perfect body, just look at me! i’m hideous, you don’t have to pretend otherwise.” peter wanted to cry right there and then.

swiftly, he moved towards you, and without any warning, dipped his head down, taking your lips into a kiss filled with so much passion, your knees almost gave out. luckily, peter wrapped an arm around your waist, holding you firmly in place. he only pulled away slightly, resting his forehead against yours.

“you are more than beautiful y/n. and i’m not going to stop loving you until you realize this for yourself. there is no such thing as perfect, everyone has flaws and things they dislike about themselves. i’m going to show you what love is, if you’ll let me.” he whispered, and you were sobbing now.

you launched yourself into him, crying into his shoulder and letting him hold you. “will you let me, y/n?” he whispered in your ear, you nodding into the fabric of his tunic.

“yes, peter. i’m yours.”

“good, because i’m ready to love every single part of you.”

8 letters [d.m]

word count: 0.5k

pairing: draco malfoy x reader

warnings: n/a

a/n: a little drabble i came up with. inspired by 8 letters by why don’t we.

request: n/a

-

draco stared up at the ceiling of his dorm, allowing his thoughts to roam wild. he was scared; that was the one thing from his racing mind that he could decipher clearly. though it felt like thousands of clouded thoughts were pulsing through his head at once, there was a common factor to all of them.

a certain person had corrupted his mind, them being the only thing he could think about for the past few months they’d spent together. that certain person, was you.

you’d always been apart of his life, ever since that first day on the hogwarts express. he would never forget the snarky remarks you made towards him and his ‘high and mighty’ attitude. the memory made him smile, and looking back, he couldn’t believe where he’d found himself now.

somehow, over the years, the hatred he had for you turned into something else, a newfound appreciation for your constant bickering and before he could process it, you’d formed an unbreakable friendship.

what he felt for you was something he’d never felt before. sure, he’d found girls attractive. you were so much more than that though. you were kind, brilliant, sympathetic, and you didn’t look at him like he was a monster. he’d never opened up to someone like he had to you.

he wasn’t sure when but somewhere along the road he’d began to confide in you. one secret turned into several, and before he knew it, you knew everything. every insecurity, every lie he’d ever told.

you very quickly became his rock; his home. the only person he could trust and show his emotions to without being judged.

he knew what he felt. he knew he’d never feel this way for anyone else. you were one of a kind, there would never be anyone like you for him. that was what scared him.

draco was in love with you, there was no doubt in his mind. but he couldn’t tell you. the two of you had known each other for so long, and he was sure you didn’t feel the same.

even if you did, with everything with voldemort, he couldn’t put you in that sort of danger. he couldn’t lose you, not after everything he’d gone through with you. without you, he wasn’t sure what he could do.

it may have been selfish, but he needed you alive.

he sighed, his eyes gazing over the old-style detailing of the dorms. his eyes slowly began to flutter shut, a picture of you slowly forming in his mind, laughing at one of his jokes. the corners of your lips pulled up gracefully as the beautiful sound left them, your eyes lighting up at the joke.

the smile resting on draco’s lips was automatic, as his body slowly fell into a deep sleep, the same person taking over his dreams.

he wished he could hold you, tell you how he felt. cradle you in his arms every night as you fell asleep, brushing your hair gently out of your face as you doze off.

he wanted to kiss your forehead gently while you wrapped your arms around his middle, swaying you slightly. he wanted to wake up to your beautiful smile, your sleepy eyes that always gave him butterflies.

but he would never be able to do this. all because he couldn’t bring himself to tell you those three words.

if all it is is eight letters, why is it so hard to say?

“dammit!” you whisper-yelled, rummaging through your trunk as you scrambled to get dressed. “where the hell is my wand?!” it was nearly time for class; you were supposed to attend breakfast 30 minutes prior but you’d stayed up particularly late finishing an essay that was due.

you nearly gave up all hope when you looked up and saw your wand exactly where you left it, sat neatly on your bedside table. you snatched it and literally ran out of the dorms and to the potions classroom.

breathing a sigh of relief, you fixed your tie as you joined the sea of students heading into the room. you were lucky that your common room was in the dungeons, or you would’ve been late. not that it really mattered, snape would’ve let you off anyways.

you took your normal seat next to your best friend theodore nott, who’d laughed at your disheveled and out of breath state. “you got lucky.” he whispered, as snape made his room, and you gently slapped theo’s shoulder, light laughter coming from you both as you settled into your seats.

“due to some.. reckless and unacceptable behavior..” he glared at some gryffindors. “...i will be reassigning partners.” snape drawled, causing the room to groan.

“silence! move to your new seats once i announce your partners. do not bother to complain, i will not be making alternative arrangements.” you and theo frowned as names were called out, “potter and longbottom.” “parkinson and nott.” “malfoy and l/n.”

you paused, hoping it wasn’t true. you looked at theo, and due to the apologetic look on his face, you knew you’d heard right.

draco malfoy was your new potions partner. you glanced over to see him packing up his bag to move next to you. he didn’t look at all pleased, and you were sure you looked the same.

to put it simply, you and draco didn’t get along. it all began in your first year, when the two of you were neck and neck for top student in slytherin. ever since, the two of you had formed a rivalry of sorts and a growing hatred for the other. you couldn’t spend five minutes next to each other without an insult being thrown.

this was going to be interesting.

draco sat down, saying nothing and keeping his eyes forward. you sighed quietly and did the same. snape continued on with his lesson, eventually assigning the task and letting you get to work. he turned to you, “let’s just get this done, yeah?” nodding silently, you both claimed certain tasks and got to work.

it wasn’t long before you finished the potion, bottling it up and handing it into snape. “you see students, this is what it looks like when you actually follow what is said and make it right.” snape announced, causing some eyerolls amongst the room. “10 points to slytherin. you two are dismissed.”

you smirked, clearly enjoying the praise and gathered your things. with a quick wave to theo, you left the room, draco following behind you. silence filled the hall as you both made your way back to the common room.

you had to admit, you were surprised the two of you worked so well together considering your history. “you know, malfoy..” you both stopped at the sound of your voice, and he looked at you with a raised eyebrow. “you don’t make a half bad partner.” you said lightly, taking him by surprise, before sending him a smirk. “for a moment there, i’d almost say you were better than me. almost.” he scoffed, rolling his eyes.

“oh please l/n, we both know who’s the better potion-maker here.” he shot back, his infamous smirk plastered on his face.

you looked at him up and down, “glad we agree then. i’m much better than you are.” you shot him a wink, quickly muttering the password to the portrait and stepping inside the room.

you were both aware he was much more advanced in potions, but you had dug yourself in now and you had much too much pride to give up now. “is that so? if i’m not mistaken, last week you nearly added rat spleens to your swelling solution rather than bat spleens!”

you turned to face him as you shot back, “in my defense, my book was smudged and-” but before you could finish your sentence, your body collided with his and you would’ve been knocked over completely had he not reached out and caught you.

the two of you stood in shock for a moment as you regained your balance, looking up at him and opening your mouth to say something, but you closed it again as no words came to mind. you two made eye contact and froze, before you both began leaning in slowly. to your luck, just before your lips touched, the door to the common room began opening and the two of you jumped apart.

the room quickly flooded with students, and without even looking at you, draco grabbed his books and joined his friends, acting as if nothing happened. you shook your head as you saw terry approaching you.

“how was potions with malfoy?” he asked, an expression of humor on his face. “it was fine. i managed.” you said, laughing along with him.

however, you weren’t managing well. you couldn’t stop thinking about your ‘moment’ for the rest of the day. laying in your bed that night, he was the only thing on your mind.

‘was he really going to kiss me?’ ‘was i really going to kiss him??’ ‘do i fancy draco malfoy?’ your thoughts and heart were racing. earlier that morning, you would’ve laughed at the idea of you and draco having a tolerable relationship. you’d hated the bloke. now, you weren’t sure that would be so bad. how could one action change your entire view on someone?

as you closed your eyes and drifted into a deep sleep, the only thing you were sure of was that you definitely didn’t hate draco malfoy.

heartbreak [s.b]

word count: 2.7k

pairing: sirius black x hufflepuff!reader

warnings: underage drinking, swearing, ANGST.

a/n: omg look at me actually doing a request a month and a half later.. oops?

request: Hey! :) I'd like to request an imagine with Sirius. The reader is hufflepuff and she's great friends with all the marauders, closest to Sirius. But what he doesn't know is that she's in love with him. She talks to one of the other marauders about it and he can't help it but to tell Sirius about it. You can decide what Sirius does and how he reacts to this information, you decide how it ends :) (submitted by @imagining-hogwarts)

-

it was unusual, you would admit. many around you found it strange that a presumably quiet hufflepuff like yourself, associated and were friends with the wild and mischievous group of gryffindors, also known as the marauders. you yourself still questioned why and how you became friends with the unlikely group.

you were sat in the library one day, working on a particularly tricky essay for potions with your partner, lily evans. all was going well, you thought, until you heard the creaking of the door and peeked up to see a group of gryffindor boys walking into the room.

you heard lily groan, and gave her a questioning glance. “that’s james.” she muttered, rolling her eyes.

the two of you had been paired for a week or so now, with new arrangements given by your professor. you weren’t too happy about it in the beginning, but lily had turned out to be one of the sweetest people you’d ever met. your study sessions turned into late night chats, and you two quickly became friends.

thus, you had heard all about james potter and his ‘slight’ crush on lily, as well as his three companions who never seemed to leave his side.

of course, you knew of them before; the four were notorious for getting an alarming amount of detentions for who knows what. you had never personally met the four, being in different houses did cause a bit of a division within the school and you really never had much reason to interact with them otherwise.

perhaps you’d had exchanged a word or two in classes, but other than that, you knew nothing about them. nor did they know anything about you.

the group made their way over, james in the front and the others following behind, making jokes about their friend’s unsuccessful attempts to woo lily.

“hey there, lily!” he flirted, sliding into the seat next to her. you were baffled at the bluntness of the situation, but you supposed gryffindors did things much differently than hufflepuffs generally did. you turned to the other three boys, who were trying not to burst out laughing at lily’s unamused expression.

sirius turned to you, quirking an eyebrow. “and who may you be?” he asked politely, and you smiled shyly.

“y/n l/n, i’m lily’s potions partner.” remus, sirius and peter introduced themselves to you, and you hardly noticed when the redhead next to you stormed off, her books and quills completely gone.

“well, that could’ve gone better.” james muttered, sighing and turning to you. “i’m james.” he introduced, sticking out a hand.

you smiled, a giggle escaping your lips. “i got that much from lily.” with a grimace, james looked at you sheepishly.

“all good things, i hope?” with that comment, you laughed loudly, ending in the five of you being kicked out of the library; which only caused more laughter amongst you. thus beginning your friendship with the marauders.

you bonded over that day, and treasured it greatly. as the year went on, you spent more and more time with them (much to lily’s disapproval), and found yourself growing quite close with sirius in particular.

you thought nothing of it at first, surely it was because the two of you simply got along better than the others, and they always found themselves preoccupied (james with lily, remus with his studies, and peter.. doing whatever peter did), allowing the two of you to get closest.

it wasn’t until after a quidditch match you realized you wanted more than a friendship with the boy.

it was an intense, highly anticipated match of gryffindor versus ravenclaw, and the tension in the school had been high. the two teams were severely competitive, this year in particular they were practically clawing at each other's throats off the pitch.

you and remus sat in the stands, cheering on james and sirius. sirius flashed you a wink, and you playfully winked back. in the end, it was close, but the snitch was caught, and gryffindor won the game. which in turn, meant a celebration in gryffindor tower.

the night was thrilling; being a friend of the marauder, you were easily let into the party without much argument. you weren’t the only one from another house anyways, you saw various ties of yellow, green and even a few blue (though very little, ravenclaws were super competitive and were likely not in the mood to party), and you didn’t feel as isolated as you thought you would.

the drinks were flowing, glasses of firewhiskey being passed around and for someone who rarely drank, you were certainly having a lot. you weren’t really sure why, maybe it was the fact that sirius and james were downing cup after cup and you were feeling the vibe, or maybe it was the stress from your upcoming o.w.l.s. you didn’t know, nor did you care at that moment as you soak in the feeling of the buzzing alcohol in your system.

remus came over, seeing you drinking more than you could handle, taking away your cup. you frowned, but didn’t object. you glanced around the room, looking for a certain curly-haired wizard.

“where’s sirius?” you hiccuped, remus looking at you concerned.

“he’s over by the drinks table.” your eyes jumped to the table, only to see sirius flirting with a girl and your smile dropped. “oh.”

remus followed your gaze, confusion overtaking his features before it began to set in what was happening. “y/n, do you.. maybe.. like sirius? as more than a friend?”

you rolled your eyes, “no, why would you think-” you cut yourself off with a gasp, as you watched sirius’ lips meet someone else’s.

remus saw the look of hurt and heartbreak on your face, and he sighed, grabbing your arm and pulling you out of the room.

“i think i should get you back to your common room.” he muttered, and without a word of protest, you allowed him to pull you back to the hufflepuff common room, and you gave him a tight hug before heading up to your dorm, and thanks to the alcohol still swimming in your system, you fell asleep nearly instantly.

remus made his way back to the common room quickly, careful to avoid any potential prefects who were wandering about. the group had memorized the route they took each night, so it wasn’t a difficult journey and he easily made his way to the fat lady portrait, muttering the password and stepping back into the lively party.

sirius spotted him immediately, rushing over and swinging an arm around his friend’s shoulders. “moony! where ya been? where’s y/n, weren’t they with you?” he frowned, glancing around for the yellow uniform you wore, only to find nothing.

“took they back to they dorms. they had one too many.” remus joked, and sirius bought it easily, a chuckle escaping his lips as he shook his head.

“shame, but understandable. they don’t hold liquor well!” with a forced laugh and smile, remus decided he shouldn’t be the one to tell sirius how you felt, especially not when he himself found out from a drunken state. he would wait until you were ready to tell him yourself.

it was getting harder and harder for remus to keep his - well, your - secret. the first day after the party, you’d completely avoided the group of unsuspecting boys. they thought nothing of it- you were probably off studying for your o.w.l.s or doing something important, since you were such a busy and hardworking student.

the second day, you had potions with them. you came in at the very last second, sitting with lily across the room. again, nothing unusual, until the second the word “dismissed” left your professor’s lips, you were gone.

they were confused, but assumed you had something to do before your next period. it wasn’t until the third day, they realized you were avoiding them. you’d saw them on the staircases on your way to charms, and the moment your eyes met james’, you turned and took another route to your destination.

of course, this caused much conversation among the four boys. had they done something to upset you? clearly, you didn’t want to talk to them, but they hadn’t the slightest clue why. well, three of them didn’t.

remus, however, knew exactly why you were acting as you were. he didn’t blame you, either. he saw how distraught you were over sirius, and his heart ached for you.

he only wished you would tell sirius, and all could be resolved, but instead, he was stuck lying to his best friends, and was forced to act like he was just as clueless as the rest of them.

the fourth and fifth day after the party were no different than the others; you still hadn’t said a word to any of them. they’d tried everything; trapping you in a hallway, bombarding you in classes, hell, they even tried to get lily to tell them what was wrong; but they hadn’t got anywhere.

remus was losing his mind; secrets were not his forte, and he was dying to tell his friends and to put an end to the distance in your friendship. you may have been closest with sirius, but you were friends with all of the marauders, and they all missed you. remus included.

it was the sixth day, when remus snapped. the four were sitting in their common room late at night, everyone was slowly clearing out of the room and heading to their dorms, though the boys were comfortably staring at the fire. they all felt a sense of longing; they hadn’t gone two days without talking to you the whole year and they missed you dearly.

“what d’you think we could’ve done to have them avoid us?” sirius muttered, his gaze set firmly on the fire in front of him. remus bit his lip, averting his gaze to his hands.

“i dunno. it must’ve been pretty bad though.” james frowned, “i wish they would just tell us instead of acting like we don’t exist.” the boys collectively sighed, and sirius hesitantly spoke up.

“do you think it’s just something to do with them? maybe it’s not us-” something in remus snapped, and he couldn’t stop himself anymore.

“no, it’s definitely not because of us. but it is because of you.”

a silence fell around the room, the three boys gawking at remus. no one was sure if it was because of his outburst, or the shock of what he said.

“because of me?” sirius squeaked, suddenly feeling very guilty, though he still had no idea what he’d done.

“yeah, because of you. they’re bloody in love with you, have you really not realized?” remus sighed, realizing he had no choice but to tell the truth and come clean. not that he wanted to keep it in any longer - he needed this division between you to end. sirius was frozen in place, james choked on the pumpkin juice he was casually sipping at, and peter fell off his chair.

“they’re what?” sirius stuttered, and remus shook his head, standing up and without another word, heading up to their shared dorm. peter, sensing a one-on-one best friend talk, scurried after remus, leaving sirius and james to talk amongst themselves.

the two boys sat quietly, sirius’ eyes never once leaving the fire, and james’ gaze was glued to his best friend. he thought his love life was tough, but at that moment, his bad luck with lily seemed like a very minor issue.

“are you okay?” james asked, and at that moment, sirius didn’t know how to respond.

“they.. they love me.” he repeated, as though he was still trying to process the words. and he was. he didn’t know how to answer. james had never seen his best friend so conflicted.

“well, how do you feel about them?” james questioned, unsure of how to comfort the boy. sirius took a moment, thinking it over. suddenly he felt the need to rethink every moment the two of you shared; late night conversations in the kitchens, small smiles passed from across the hallway, and your infamous hugs.

he missed it all so much. he missed you so much. the longing he’d felt over the past week had been eating at him, and now more than ever, all he wanted was to talk to you.

without so much as another glance to james, sirius stood abruptly and left the common room, ignoring james’ questioning. though curious, james didn’t follow; sirius was grateful for that much.

he sped his way through the castle, easily weaving through the prefect-safe paths he’d memorized his first year. he had his mind set on one specific place; the astronomy tower. he remembered you vividly telling him on various occasions it was your “thinking spot”.

he wasn’t sure what was telling him you’d be there, but he had a gut feeling and figured with being as desperate as he was, checking wouldn’t hurt. he wasn’t going to be able to fall asleep with all on his mind anyway.

though he had a feeling, he still froze on the steps as he heard soft sniffles coming from the top of the tower. he gulped, stepping up quietly and peering over the platform, only to see you curled into yourself, eyes trained on the stars illuminating the sky.

“i could hear you coming up the stairs, you know.” you muttered, pulling sirius out of his daze. he shook his head, climbing the rest of the way and standing at the top of the staircase.

“should’ve listened when you told me to pick up my feet.” he joked, only to be met with silence. he sighed, sitting down and resting his back against the nearest wall, still a reasonable distance away from you.

“i wanted to talk to you.” he spoke quietly, as if you were fragile and could break in an instant. you supposed you must’ve looked as so. had it been anyone else you would’ve left by then, but sirius had seen you in this state countless times and you couldn’t be bothered to try to hide it from him.

as much as you were avoiding him to save yourself from further heartbreak, you missed him. he was your best friend above all else, and without him you didn’t know what to do. he was everywhere, and it was getting harder and harder to stay away.

so when you saw him reach the top of the stairs, against your better judgment, you had no desire to leave.

when you said nothing, he took it as a cue to continue. “y/n, remus.. he told me about you.. how you feel about me.” he coughed, and you sighed, unphased.

“i’m surprised he lasted so long.” you half-joked, forcing out a laugh. “it’s okay, sirius. i know you don’t feel the same- and that’s okay.” you spoke, and you wished so desperately that he would argue, tell you he felt the same. but he never did.

he only turned his gaze to the ground, kicking at the stone flooring. “i’m sorry.” he whispered, and your heart felt like it had been put back into place, only to be ripped out again; though you were determined not to show it.

“i told you it’s okay.” it took everything within you to hold back your tears and keep your voice steady, and by some miracle, you were managing well.

“i miss you, sirius, i do. but i can’t keep pretending i don’t feel like this, as much as i don’t want to. i just need some time. i do want to be friends still; hell, i can’t imagine my life without you in it, no matter in what way; but i need to let myself heal first.” you spoke calmly now, and you could see the pity in his eyes. his mouth opened and closed, looking for the right words.

“please.” you whispered, and with a nod, he stood. he turned to your small figure out last time, gulping as he spoke the last words you were going to hear from him for a very long time.

“i didn’t mean to break your heart. i’m sorry.” and when you heard the door close behind him, ensuring he was long gone, you broke into a fit of tears. and at that moment, you were sure you would never ‘heal’ the way you needed to; he would always hold a special place in your heart. and you were right.
