i am always told i am so good with kids and my family is, for some reason, so excited for me to have kids (even though i am still a kid???) and i keep telling them that its not in the cards for me, not for a LONG LONG time and yet they refuse to grapple with that fact?

some people aren’t meant to have children. some people aren’t financially stable enough, some people’s disabilities would become too much if they started raising a child. some people aren’t equipped with childcare skills (i, for one, was never around any babies/toddlers as a kid. my youngest cousin i see more than once a year is 4 years younger than me.)

some people just dont want kids, and we as a society need to stop shaming people who don’t want kids.

it's silly because i'm adamantly against having kids myself, i don't want them and i never have, yet i feel immensely guilty when people tell me i would be a good mom, because no i won't! i don't have the patience, i don't want the responsibility, it's just not for me. idk, a part of me feels like i'd be wasting my life by not raising a new one. agh.
