I believe the reason that the reader is the most hated Hashira is because of no particular reason. I think it's just we joined the Hashrias core a little too late for their liking. They all think that this was the master's way of saying that they were weak or not enough so he added another person. We simply joined after the connections were made between them and they didn't want to open more up to anyone else.
