i forgot to say, since i also forgot that not ever person in the world stalked ht’s community tabs and his instagram stories for progress updates, Olivia Stone was the singer girl from Green Team.

i don’t have anything inquisitive or meaningful for the daily ask box message, so I’m just gonna spitball a question made on the spot: Do any of the side characters made by ht still exist in your AU (ex. olivia stone, the brown soldier, old man)?

The most probable answer is that they don’t exist at all in the AU, especially with the complete removal of the green team from the plot of your mag nine, since olivia is only ever relevant because of the aforementioned voided team, and because I believe its very likely the old man hails from the same place himself (mainly the clothing color and just. him as a person. he could still exist as an unrelated character though). Either that or they contribute absolutely nothing to the plot as characters that can receive nothing more than a passing mention from other, more important characters. A great majority of ht’s original characters, who I personally have nothing against the existence of, would never be relevant or even mean anything to the story if medic and spy were never napped in the first place, which you’ve already stated is one of the main changes to the original story more than a handful of times.

I love HoovyTube's series and I have mad respect for the guy. I'm not trying to make "the superior version" or anything like that.

It's just when watching the series his more original characters (expect for brown Soldier or Hustler) felt out of place or confusing to me. I love original characters but I just can't incorporate them if I don't know how to write them.

I honestly have no idea who Olivia Stone is or how they contribute to the story.

The main reason why I scrapped a lot of Hoovys characters is because there are already so many characters in the story that it'd be hard to balance splitting the narrative between all of them.

Including all of them would an overwhelming nightmare for me. I like writing what I know and that means Red and Blu. I didn't intend to change so much it just kinda happened as I kept simplifying things.

It originally was just an "what if" fic were Spy and Medic did run away and nothing else. However as I kept trying to adapt other Hoovy elements it just got too complicated for me. Also I want people to be able to read it without having to necessarily watch his series. I just don't want to exposition dump/ regurgitate backstory for every single plot detail or to why there is suddenly like there is like 3 more teams.

I'll probably include Brown Solider at some point. In the AU he's basically is the only remaining team member of Brown. it's not really a team anymore as one guy can't make up a team he's just very loyal. My idea is that he's been attempting to track down the Hustler to prevent other teams from being destroyed like his. However by the time he gets to Red Base the Hustler has already taken over.

I was thinking about having him being another motivator for Spy and Medic returning. Like he serves as a physical warning sign for them to go back. I'm just making things up as I go tbh.

I want to be as respectful to the original as possible but I didn't want to just copy and paste Hoovys story. That's why so many elements changed. So think of it like an AU that's inspired by Mag Nine instead of fic that takes place in Hoovys story.

Does the blu engineer still go about with feeling undervalued by his team by still destroying his own team’s respawn then murder most of them right after in this au as well? Or are you giving him a new story as well? I feel like destroying respawn wouldn’t be the same walk in the park it was in ht’s version of respawn crystals that were WAY less well-guarded and hidden than you’d expect something so much value and importance to be, especially considering it’s been fueling the battle between red and blu that has been going on for over 2000 years. I feel like the latter would make much more sense.

Blu Engie still has the same story and feelings of being undervalued.

He does kill most of his team but I liked the idea of one of them being killed by the Hustler and at least 2 try to team up with Red because both of them lost everything.

It would be actually in a way, easier for Blu Engi to get to respawn as in my headcanon is that Blu Engi isn't a clone but another Conagher kinda like Emesis Blue.

So with the idea that it was the Conaghers that developed respawn for the Mann Bros in the first place, Engi would have access to Blu respawn for management and maintenance. He could easily get to it without drawing attention and full clearance. Then from there rig it and set it to explode.

He'd just have to set it up before he kills his teammates so they don't respawn. I'd probably need to rewatch the Blu team scenes for clarification.

Again I'm not rewriting the entirety of the mag nine from the beginning as the fic starts right when Spy decides that he and Medic should runaway so things that already happened with Blu before are going to be referenced but not directly shown.

Blu Engi primary is there to serve as a parallel to Red Medic and probably won't show up for a long time in the fic. His plot line will cross over more with Reds and Medics than in the original climax but other than that no real change.

The focus is on Medic and Spy so I haven't thought too much about it beyond that. I also haven't written a lot of the actual HT events as most of the fic is about the running away with sprinkles of switching between Red and Blu perspectives. Like every once in awhile we check in on how the teams are doing with Hustler and Engi running amuck. It won't be until the end of the fic do we see the plots come together.

I'm so worried about watching the last part of the mag nine by hoovytube. That series is such a mess but it was how I got invested in MedicSpy. It's also a big influence on a self indulgent fic I'm working on and if the ending is weird/bad then I'd probably have to write it myself. It's giving how I feel about miraculous ladybug:

-Creative premise, decent visuals and some fun characters but some strange writing choices that just gets weirder

-like I get that it's fan-made (and mlb is not) and for something 1 person made it's very impressive for what it is but just because it's fanmade doesn't mean it's above criticism.

-it's just like sad when a clearly imaginative person has a cool passion project that they put all this time into, then once they see that it's not getting the views/ numbers they want they end up taking short cuts and put productivity over passion.
