I experimented a bit this time with the pencil/sketch look! I hope you enjoy! I’ll probably colorize this series in the near future too - I find it strangely relaxing and besides, it’s one of my favorite parts besides playing with light 😊

Also, this was inspired by a scene from my latest JC fic A Reality of Our Own Making, just couldn't get the images out of my head 🥰

a set of seven gifs, titled "temporal mechanics 101 by admiral janeway" that have been arranged in a continuous seamless layout resembling the star trek lcars design, and that form a sort of long infographic. the text used is a combination of the dr. erin 'temporal mechanics 101' presentation from prodigy season 2, and some janeway quotes from voyager.

GIF 1: various red and grey panels frame the gif in the middle. the top also holds the title "temporal mechanics" which continues at the bottom with "101" and on the left "by admiral janeway". the gif is in the same red and grey colours and it shows the uss voyager hovering in front of some kind of spatial anomaly (many such cases :)). at the bottom of the frame a second gif has been laid on top. it shows admiral janeway (in the endgame uniform) standing at a speaker's desk. the original background from this shot has been extracted, leaving only her silhouette.

GIF 2: a grey panel continuing from the previous gif crosses the screen horizontally at the top. another set of panels in shades of red, grey and blue drags from the top right over to left and then downwards. it frames a gif of captain janeway on the voyager bride. she walks across it from right to left, then turns her back to the viewer and lifts her right hand above her head in a dismissive gesture. the bottom right corner is filled by a blue rectangle with rounded corners. written on it is a quote by admiral janeway: "I'm no authority on time travel. in fact, I've made it my goal in life to avoid it". on the left, between two of the panels, the word "intro" is written.

GIF 3: the colour scheme here is blue and cyan and green. in the top left corner a blue panel continues from the previous gif. in the top right corner the words "chapter 1" are written. another one of those round cornered rectangles sits in the top center. the colours is a kind of greenish sea blue and written on it is "the simplest way to understand time travel is to think of events like a series of dominoes." the center of the frame is filled out by a gif of a computer graphic (for those interested, this is from year of hell, on the krenim time ship!) of a bunch of horizontal lines in shades of blue who run parallel for about half the width of the gif, then diverge in different directions in a mess of swirly lines. there is green text in a non-latin alphabet on different parts of the screen, as well as two vertical green lines on either side. the gif is framed by panels in blue and green. underneath this frame there are several other panels in blue and grey along the bottom.

GIF 4: the colour scheme for this gif is once again blue, red, and grey. the previously mentioned blue and grey panels continue here at the top. the gif is basically divided into three parts. the top half is two frames of panels in blue and grey. the left one holds a block of text, the right one a gif of voyager crash landing in an icy landscape. the text reads "these dominoes represent time as we know it. some events are bigger than others, and altering the past is a little like-" underneath this a large red rectangular panel with a rounded tip on the right has been placed. on it is another block of text, reading "[nevermind. the best (best is underlined) advice for making sense of temporal paradoxes is: don't even try. -k. janeway]" along the bottom is another gif of some kind of spatial anomaly. the gif is coloured in blue and also framed by lcars type panelling. finally, a another cutout gif of janeway has been laid on top. she is dressed in her normal voyager era uniform. her left arm is resting on a table and she is holding a tricorder (or something). her head is resting on her right hand with which she also makes a kind of shrugging gesture.

$GIF 5: in a very thin line at the top, the previous gif continues into the frame. a set of panels drags across horizontally, broken up by the words "so you want to time travel?" and "chapter 5". underneath, twelve of those round rectangles have been laid out in a grid (i seriously do not know what to call these. because they're not ovals but they're not just rounded corners either HELP). four of them are just blank, in different colours. four of them hold text ("subspace fracture", "quantum singularity", temporal rift", "wormhole"), and the last four are gifs, each one representing one of the above listed phenomena. as the gif plays out, these panels flash between black & white and colour, so that each gif is synched up with the corresponding text. across the bottom are three thin grey panels.$

GIF 6: the colour scheme here is grey and pinkish wine red. at the top three grey panels continue from the previous gif. the frame is divided into two frames of panels, one small in the top right corner, the other large on the left, filling out most of the frame. in the bottom right corner is a light grey panel that continues down into the next gif. the large frame has "chapter 15" written at the top and contains a gif of voyager floating in space. except it's actually two voyagers, overlapping, but slightly offset from each other. smaller frame contains a block of text reading "quantum realities are a whole other mess, so please try to avoid them..."

GIF 7: the colour scheme is grey and blue and red. there is the grey panel in the top right corner continuing from the gif above, as well as a small wine red one on the left. this one frames the words "chapter 26". from the grey panel, the panels continue across horizontally and then down the left. they frame a gif of admiral and captain janeway walking down a corridor. there is another rounded rectangle with a bit of text written on it: "final word of advice: the temporal prime directive is less of a headache if you ignore it"

Is it okay that I want to disappear in a world where there is only Voyager, Janeway, Chakotay or Kate Mulgrew? It’s not healthy, is it? I need help, don’t I? Please send help…
