there will never be a better ending than the original percy jackson series. percy and annabeth racing each other down halfblood hill away from camp. for the first time percy not looking back because he has his whole future ahead of him. the weight he’s been carrying for 4 years is off of his shoulders and he can move again. move forward. the closing scene specifically invokes that feeling of being a kid and rushing down a big hill with the wind whistling in your ears, laughing with your best friend as you sprint neck in neck under the sun. and it feels like flying. like freedom. unmatched. endings peaked with the last olympian.
