I feel like my life-lesson moments are so incredibly like an episode of 7th Heaven. "And, this is the day I learned not to lie;" "This was that one time I learned to not stay up so late." It's all these vivid, horribly cliché focused scenes.
A Whole Lost World
“I can show you the world, Shinning, shimmering, splendid, Tell me, Claire, now when did You last let your heart decide?
I can open your eyes, Take you wonder by wonder, Over, sideways, and under, On a magic gyrosphere ride.
A whole lost world, An old fantastic point of view, No one to tell us no or where to go, Or say we’re only dreaming.”
A story in which riff-raff leads an uppity girl around, showering her the wonders around her, ones which she happens to take for granted, due to social and economical pressures. Then, they almost die a bunch.
I have to say, I *beeping* love dinosaurs.
My main complaint is that, for a “world” of dinosaurs, the variety of dinosaurs you see in the movie is kinda limited.
However, the dinosaurs you do see are presented in an ironic, interesting, dazzling way. And, I get it, you can only show a cute, underestimated Compsognathus eat a person so many ways; new territory needed to be forged.
The movie has a charm, a dry, meta wit, and takes it self seriously, but also not at all.
The movie has a few surprises, which I enjoyed, and leaves some things to the imagination.
All in all, I can’t wait to see it again.
“All I gotta’ do is jump!”
At the time, I was so angry at Skyward Sword. I used the graphics as an excuse. No, I don’t think the Wii had the ability to give the pastel art-style the most vivid hues, err, I mean dues, that it deserved. But, in reality, I think I was just mad that it wasn’t Majora’s Mask or Ocarina of Time. I’m so passionate about those two games, and they were a special part of my childhood. But, The Legend of Zelda franchise is daring, and bold, and tries new things, and establishes deep, interesting folklore and history. I’ve always loved it all, but, I guess I just had trouble letting go of my childhood. The truth is, Skyward Sword is a fun, quirky, solid addition to the series. There, I’ve said; I was just being an ass. -blushes-
You may be thinking, “well, there have been multiple Zelda releases since ‘Ocarina of Time’ and 'Majora’s Mask.’” And, that’s very true. I’m more inclined towards a more serious, dark take on the whole good versus evil trope in video games. I actually really enjoyed “Twilight Princess.” I think I dismissed the heart and fun and personality of “Skyward Sword” as it not taking the series seriously. But, it is, in its own, fun, lighter way. I was wrong. Sorry, Internet.
