THIS IS SO GOOD. GOD
Finally finished with this little detective conan animation!!!
The song is Under the Wool by KMODO
When your boyfriend mysteriously disappears and this creepily smart kid who looks like him shows up along with all these other shady characters who are obviously hiding some bigger conspiracy. I imagine that not knowing everything thatâs going on and being left to put together clues would be pretty terrifying. It feels unfair that like literally most of the people Ran knows know about the organization while sheâs left in the dark about the truth. Enjoy some Ran angst! đ„Č
Hey girl! I've kinda been recently considering maybe hopefully going to med school? I've heard numerous times that by going to med school you're basically giving up your twenties...how do you feel about that? I understand ofc that there are sacrifices students make in order to do well but do you ever feel like you're missing out on life experiences because of med school? This has been bothering me a lot of late and i dont know who else to ask! Thanks :)
I do feel like that a little bit.Â
I meanâIâm 23 right nowâIâll turn 24 later this year. When I graduate with my degree Iâll be 25. By the time I finish residency Iâll be right around 30. So yes. Thereâs a whole decade of my life almost! (If not longer if I do a fellowship!).Â
You spend a lot of your 20s doing things that people arenât doing in their 20s and because of that you donât do the ânormal stuffâ some people do.Â
You study most nights instead of going out.Â
When youâre not studying your working at the hospital or sleeping (or taking brain vacations to occasionally see friends or family).Â
Youâre elbow deep in your second year when you have friends finally considering what their careers should be or deciding to quit one job to just kind of wander around the country for a year.Â
Youâll probably never fit in a weekly girlâs night and your three spin classes and two date nights, and reading all 100 books on this yearâs NYT best seller list.Â
You wait to get married because youâre not meeting peopleâyouâre busy getting through third year.Â
You wait to have kids because youâre probably smack in the middle of residency (and maybe you havenât even found a partner yet).Â
Youâre waking up exhaustedânot because you were at a party the night before until 4 am⊠but because you didnât leave your shift at the hospital until 4 am.
Your wardrobe is full of scrubs instead of sundresses. You have piles of sensible hospital shoes and the last time you wore the pair of too small spike heels was⊠well you canât even remember. You lose the capacity to talk about things that arenât medicine. You try to go to a party and meet new people and you find yourself telling a story about the last time someone bled/vomited/pissed on you and those people are walking awayâŠ.Â
Instead of PDA standing for public display of affection⊠it stands for posterior descending artery. NPH is not the initials of the best actor on How I Met Your Motherâit means normal pressure hydrocephalus.Â
You give up sleep, free time, catching up on the latest HBO show. Medicine will take time from your family, your friendships, your ability to date.Â
BUTÂ
I wouldnât do anything else.Â
I wouldnât.Â
I wouldnât trade leaving the hospital at midnight after I stood and spoke Spanish with the parents of a child in respiratory distress until the translator came and told them it was going to be okay. I wouldnât trade that for leaving a bar at midnight on that same night.Â
I wouldnât trade my failed attempts at dating. Iâm okay that all of those attempts have failed because the right person understands why I do what I do and will get why I canât do a date night every night. Why I might not be able to stay at your house party or see you every night. The right person will love that I love what I do so much. I wouldnât trade what I do for a more successful dating life.Â
I wouldnât trade this life where I spent the last 8 weeks of my life studying for one test. Because come May Iâm going to be in clinic.Â
People will yell at meâpatients, doctors, nurses, family members. I will get yelled at, bled on, cussed at, cat called by drunks in the ER, or vomited on. Thatâs just my average day.Â
Iâll come home and instead of going to sleep stay up another couple hours to learn one more thing about a Whipple procedure or pulmonary hypertension. Iâll wake up early and stay late.Â
But I have amazing friends who are fighting right next to me in the trenches and sometimes we all laugh over a bottle of wine and our silly lives. I have amazing people who love meâwho give me the slack when I need itâand donât blame me when I show up late or leave early. I have an awesome family that helps me out when I need it.Â
And I still find the time to take care of me. I do the things i loveâI read, I go for a run, I hit a yoga class, I cook (oh god do I cook!), I write, I write on this blog!!Â
Iâm not worried about the other pieces falling into places. I know that I will get the other things I want in my life and Iâm not afraid of medicine taking that away from me.Â
So sure⊠choosing medicine is a little like âgiving up your twentiesâ⊠but for me⊠itâs giving up the parts I didnât want anyway and is instead giving me one giant 10 year adventure.Â
And that adventure has a lot of hard days⊠maybe more hard days than easy ones. It has days you come home and cry. But is there any other job in the world where someone might hug you because you tell them their son is going to make it through the night? Any other job where you are the first pair of hands that touches a baby the second it hits the atmosphere? Any other place you might cry with someone, laugh with someone, change someoneâs life, and place your hand inside someoneâs chest cavity all on the same day?Â
So some people say that med school is like âgiving up your twentiesâ⊠maybe itâs more of a trade though.Â
You give up the things âeveryone elseâ seems to be doingâŠand in return you get (what is in my opinion) possibly the most amazing adventure ever.Â

Good Traits Gone Bad
Exploring good traits gone bad in a novel can add depth and complexity to your characters. Here are a few examples of good traits that can take a negative turn:
1. Empathy turning into manipulation: A character with a strong sense of empathy may use it to manipulate others' emotions and gain an advantage.
2. Confidence becoming arrogance: Excessive confidence can lead to arrogance, where a character belittles others and dismisses their opinions.
3. Ambition turning into obsession: A character's ambition can transform into an unhealthy obsession, causing them to prioritize success at any cost, including sacrificing relationships and moral values.
4. Loyalty becoming blind devotion: Initially loyal, a character may become blindly devoted to a cause or person, disregarding their own well-being and critical thinking.
5. Courage turning into recklessness: A character's courage can morph into reckless behavior, endangering themselves and others due to an overestimation of their abilities.
6. Determination becoming stubbornness: Excessive determination can lead to stubbornness, where a character refuses to consider alternative perspectives or change their course of action, even when it's detrimental.
7. Optimism becoming naivety: Unwavering optimism can transform into naivety, causing a character to overlook dangers or be easily deceived.
8. Protectiveness turning into possessiveness: A character's protective nature can evolve into possessiveness, where they become overly controlling and jealous in relationships.
9. Altruism becoming self-neglect: A character's selflessness may lead to neglecting their own needs and well-being, to the point of self-sacrifice and burnout.
10. Honesty becoming brutal bluntness: A character's commitment to honesty can turn into brutal bluntness, hurting others with harsh and tactless remarks.
These examples demonstrate how even admirable traits can have negative consequences when taken to extremes or used improperly. By exploring the complexities of these traits, you can create compelling and multi-dimensional characters in your novel.
Happy writing!
