With the rise of terfs and "gender critical" people who love to use the chromosomes or what's "in your pants" excuse for labeling individuals I figured I'd spend the time to give a cute lil science lesson to show why chromosomes and genitalia don't actually equal gender or sex. I mean this in an actual science way that has been proven.

As we know, when the chromosomes from each parent are splitting into the alleles sometimes they don't do that fully in a way viewed as normal. This doesn't make people however any more or less normal than anyone else. It's just a more rare occurrence similar to how it's more rare to have green eyes.

When the embryo is forming when the time comes that's when genes get turned on or it is determined that they will stay turned off. The sex determining gene is called the Sry Gene. "Mutation of the Sry gene causes male to female sex reversal in the presence of a Y chromosome, while translocation of the Sry gene to either the X chromosome or one of the autosomes is sufficient to cause testis development and consequently many male specific sex characteristics including male external genitalia in genetically female." So here's an instance where your genitals do not align with what your chromosomes are.

The hormones in the womb also play a key role in the development. These hormones are also believed to be the same ones that influence sexuality. There's a bunch of articles on it so here's one that cites a good bit of articles.

Sex changing behavior is not exclusive to humans. It's common in numerous organisms even beyond just mammals. It's not a rare occurrence. I know it went around Tumblr when headlines hit about the five Botswanan lionesses who Grew Manes and began to have the behaviors seen in a male. It's not always for reproductive purposes that they change either. Here's some other animals that do this, there's even more if you just Google it. There's a lot.

Science is not black and white. If you have any scientific knowledge above a middle school level you would know that nothing is definitive. Gender/sex don't correlate and there is no definitive way to define it. Some people genuinely do not know this but, now you do and have the ability to change your mindset. If you use science as your excuse to be transphobic: You're not being scientifically inclined, you're just an asshole. I know a lot of you take pride in being an asshole, I don't know who hurt you so much that you now feel the need to hide behind brutality and put down others to try to love yourself. However, I hope you get better soon to the point you don't feel the need to attempt harming others who are just living in a different way than you.

Help me survive until my appointment next month

Hi guys my health has been getting worse and I have been having an issue that is causing me severe pain so bad that I can’t sleep, I can’t eat, I can’t move without my pain meds. I have finally gotten ahold of the specialist I need to see, but my appointment isn’t for another month, and until then I’m just going to continue to be in pain, assuming I don’t die. I’m unemployed, I’m permanently disabled, I have no income whatsoever. I live with my mama and she can’t afford to pay for my meds either. Please help me, reblog this post if you can’t donate.
