a/n: i saw a video of jungkook eating and it spurred this on lol literally. he just looked so alone at one point while he was eating and my brain went off, wrote this last night on my phone, edited sort of. so much jk content i know >< but i hope you like~

[9:42 PM] baby girl: baby? where are you? i got dinner all ready for us. [9:56 PM] baby girl: we did say 9:30 right? yeah I remember you said you’d be here by then… [10:10 PM] baby girl: food is getting cold, I don’t want to be a jerk but least you could’ve done is texted me you couldn’t make it baby

Jungkook tosses his phone on the table, uncaring if the screen is cracked from the way it landed on the hard surface. He sits back in the chair with an irritated huff, eyebrows curved in a deep frown as he stares at all the food he made for you and him to enjoy together. It had been a very busy season for him, leaving little time to spend with you. He felt bad and wanted to make it up to you as soon as the opportunity presented itself. Before you raced off to work, he told you on an early morning FaceTime call that he’d be home before midnight for a change, promising you a night in together, home cooked meal and all. Rushed for time but giddy, you expressed your excitement in so many words while jetting out the door.

Fast forward a whole work day, he was tired from practice but nonetheless determined to keep his promise, taking a quick shower when he got home before he set off to make a hearty meal. You told him you would be off by 8, it was the end of the month and you always had to work overtime. But you would be there!

[3:12 PM] baby girl: I can’t wait babe <3

He re-read your text just to be sure but it only annoyed him further. He looked back at his recent messages to you for confirmation that you weren’t coming, even seeing that you’d not even opened them yet. Saddened more than anything, he started picking at the food.
