"Oh, that's not...You know what honestly, you could easily turn that into a hypothetical not so subtle statement about how the patriarchy believes it has ownership of female bodies." Kit mentioned quickly finding an excuse to make that sort of thing work if Violet ever found herself in that situation again. "Thank you, and I do think your little cootie cat on the cheek was definitely cute, but it's a good thing that didn't happen today. Honestly, face painting can never be a bad idea, I'm pretty sure a hot star wars nerd is gonna ask me out now."

"Very true. I feel like the last time I got my face painted was in college. I lost a competition and had to get a vagina with a top hat and a mustache on my cheek. Honestly it was a cute look." Violet mused, trying not to move her face too much while she was being worked on. "Oh I love it! You look adorable I doubt anyone would even get mad. I love Star Wars so I especially like it. This was a good idea."

"Well if it isn't my savior," Kit beamed at his friend who at one point in his stay in New York was pretty much harassed by a fan who didn't really know the meaning of boundaries and Karmen had sort of come to his imminent rescue. Ever since then the young author likes to keep up with his newfound friend. "So any new juicy gossip I can somehow turn into a best seller or are both of our love lives a little staleyana grande?" @lovemetopieces

˙ ˖ ✶ Teddy

"Oh I know," Kit giggled, his eyes never leaving Teddy as he wondered what could've driven his friend here. The author had lost count just how many times they've spent the night together this month, their casual fling was becoming a more prominent thing which could only mean one thing. Teddy was running. Something in their life had recently turned sour and this was the solace they needed to forget. Teddy's visits had been helping Kit push back those thoughts of not being wanted, of feeling that his entire life he'd just always be a second choice or a consolation price.

Kit had always been the type to remember the people he loved when he was out and about. Pick out things that reminded him of them, or things they mentioned they liked at a certain point. No matter the circumstance he'd always come with some sort of gift as if it was nothing. Concert tickets and hotel stays when a friend mentioned an artist having a tour but nowhere near them. Putting their friend on a fashion show because the spoke about having dreams about being a model. No matter how big or how small he'd always try. So getting the ointment for Teddy was just natural, healing those bruised hands so they could keep on creating more music. Kit loved every part of Teddy that the other would let him seen, even the unseen, the gritty things lying right below the surface.

As the tension in the room rose to a fever pitch, his hands flew towards Teddy's arms, pulling them towards him as he turned the other around. "Hey, you're okay babe." he spoke softly, pressing a little kiss on Teddy's temple. "Let me help you not be bored then,"

Teddy Huffed Out A Laugh, Shoulder Lifting In A Shrug At The Words. I Take That As A Compliment, You

teddy huffed out a laugh, shoulder lifting in a shrug at the words. ❝ i take that as a compliment, you know, ❞ they replied, eyes following him as he disappeared into the bathroom. incorrigible, reckless, stupid, impulsive, hedonistic; these were all descriptors they'd become all too familiar with, but they'd been called much worse. in fact, they typically embraced these adjectives as though the words were a part of them, though they doubted that kit meant it as an insult, anyway.

green hues watched as he reappeared, pressing a small tube into their chest, the force of it shoving them back a step. they let the neosporin drop into their palm, looking at it for a moment as they tried to parse out how they felt about it. it wasn't like teddy didn't care for their own wounds; the action was almost second nature at this point, given they'd been playing the drums for roughly half their life. still, there was something almost touching about the gesture, the idea that kit went out of his way to pick something like this up for them to use while they were here. they didn't think they were even here that much, but they supposed these visits had grown more frequent over the course of the last year; even more in the last month or so.

suddenly the blond was overcome with emotion, the reason for their drop in forgotten nearly completely as their hand closed around the medicine. they turned away from him, his knowing expression that would almost certainly morph into real concern that teddy felt they didn't deserve. ❝ uh - ❞ they started, grasping for an excuse to get as far away from here as possible. the bravado and joking tone was gone now, palms coming up to dig into their eyes. ❝ nothing, really. i was just bored, kit. honestly. ❞

If not working you could usually find Kit pretty much anywhere on a night out. Tonight his wanderlust heart and his pushy friends had dragged him to a Karaoke night, and whilst he had a beautiful singing voice he wasn't really in the mood with the theme of the event. So in lieu of this he opted to simply taste all the decadent beverages this place had to offer. His lips kissed many glasses, but the buzz hadn't really set in as thanks to his younger selves shenanigans he'd grown a pretty high tolerance. As he meandered across the establishment he was met with another boy, a collision that spilled a drink all over his shirt. "Hey, do me a favor and take a breath." Kit giggled holding his hand up. "It's a mesh shirt, so nothing really got ruined at all, my body is a bit alcohol smelling now but if I go to a gay club tonight I'll just fit right in anyway." he said offering the other a smile. "So no harm no foul, but I will take another drink or maybe nachos if this place has them."

karaoke limited to the music of the 90s felt to daniel like someone had concocted the worst possible night out ever -- just for him. his least favourite decade for music ( excluding several of his dearest favourites ) and the obligation to sing in front of a crowd, which he had expertly avoided. blending into the background came in handy when he decided he'd been there long enough for leaving not to seem rude and accordingly made a beeline for the bar's exit. focused too much on staying upright ( he'd just learned the house sangria was lethal stuff ) and not being spotted, he walked smack-bang straight into another soul. "oh, shit." righting himself just before he could fall and wishing the ground would swallow him whole, danny offered an extremely apologetic smile and plainly mortified look offered to the other. "i'm so fuckin' sorry, man... are you good? can i buy you another drink or somethin'?" he swallowed thickly, mentally adding 'like a shirt to replace the one i've just ruined with alcohol' and cursing.

˙ ˖ ✶ Devi

"Exactly, like why wouldn't the two hottest people in New York city not have a life changing experience? What's more surprising is that we're here." Kit giggled thinking of how the fates had played their hand and somehow managed to put these two in the same place in this...let's call it an event. "Your mind is a dark place, and I kind of love it. He would probably caress my cheek with the puppets hand." At this he couldn't help but laugh at the mere image and scenario that was now playing in his head. "I know, time is truly just an illusion cause I still feel like I'm in my mid 20's and not about to be 30 years old." Nodding at the prospect of finally understanding what J-Lo's aforementioned and mysterious orange drink was, he was excited to make a new friend out of this horrible experience. "I'll let you handle it, last time I flirted with a straight man he wanted to elope."

Devi wasn't a huge horror fan, however, she had enough knowledge to catch the other's reference and laughed at it. "The worst part is that I could see something along those lines happening." She was perhaps being overdramatic, but she was sure the other dodged a bullet either way. "Oh my god, or like he continued to talk to you through the puppet while you guys were hooking up." She shuddered. Yeah, the duo was definitely getting out of here before the puppet man or anyone else could stop them for yet another encounter neither one of them wanted to be in. "I completely forgot about that. I was thinking this year was flying by, but looking back that whole thing feels like ages ago." She supposed time was just strange like that, sometimes feeling like there was never enough of it and other times dragging on at a snail's pace. "That would be something though. Maybe we could even figure out what orange drink she was even talking about." Maybe the night wasn't so bad now she had an entertaining companion. "I don't think we'll have to, but I'm not above batting my eyes to get some extra."

Kit would definitely have a talk to the friends who signed him up for this when he wasn't even trying to look for love at the moment. There wasn't a soul here that interested him in the slightest, and it seemed as if the dregs of the dating world had all piled up in one small venue. "This whole thing seems more like a craigslist add than anything else," Kit sighed, the level of exasperation he felt was reaching new heights but it made him chuckle knowing there was another in the same boat. "Shocking," Kit said he looked to where Devi's eyes had shifted their attention and he guessed the friend must've snagged the only good option in this whole place. "Truly I get that, I've been stuck with some of the worst, there was a ventriloquist who told me his puppet thought I was attractive. So do you wish to indulge in some adult beverages, meaning diet coke and leave this place or something. Because I don't believe I'll find my prince charming anywhere around here. Unless you'd like to stay and talk to ventriloquist man?"

Perhaps It Wasn't The Best Thing To Admit, But Devi Was Relieved The Person Who Rescued Her From The

Perhaps it wasn't the best thing to admit, but Devi was relieved the person who rescued her from the draining conversation was just as miserable as she was at this thing. "I think it's safe to say it does." Her face twisted in annoyance, not at the other, but at how the night played out so far. "No seriously, it's like some of the worst of the worst this city has to offer all decided to gather here tonight. I don't know how anyone is supposed to meet someone they're actually interested in here." To be fair, she wasn't necessarily looking. Her life was enough of a dumpster fire as it was without adding romance to it, and well, she wasn't even sure of the type of person she would be interested in with her previous relationships mostly consisting of partners her parents would approve of rather than people she had genuine interest in. "Then again, the friend I came here with seems to be doing okay." She sighed softly before turning her attention back to the other, "Thanks for helping me by the way. I don't think I could've stomached another conversation revolving around that guy's favorite sports team through another excoriating game again."
