Tears

Tears

"Get out" she screamed. James and Meowth winced, snapping shut the door to prevent Jessie's boot from hitting them. They jumped as the the projectile thumped against the door.

"Meowth, maybe you could give us a minute."

"She's all yours Jimmy boy. Good Luck." he said as he waddled down the hall. James listened, but no sound was coming from their room. He pressed his ear to the door, there was no yelling, so he figured it was safe to enter. As he let himself into their room he saw Jessie sprawled across the bed, quietly sobbing. This was new, he had seen Jessie cry lots of times in the field, usually out of fear or frustration, but this was different, his heart hurt listening to her muffled sobs.

"Jessie, what wrong?" Jessie looked at him, than turned her head away.

"You wouldn't understand, you've never been in love." Oh, so that was it. Jessie had been in love before, but if it didn't work out she usually just shrugged it off, this time must have been bad.

"Your wrong, you know" he said crawling onto the bed and sitting next to her "I know what it's like to chase their smile, how it hurts to breathe because you think your heart is going to beat right out of your chest, and I know how bad the pain is when they don't feel the same way." She had stopped crying, and she was looking at him like she had never seen him before.

"Jessie, why don't you tell me what happened?" Jessie sniffed a few times.

"There is nothing to tell. I met this boy. I thought he liked me, I really did, but ..." she seemed to lose her voice, the tears gathered in her eyes and she was crying once more. He rubbed her back, trying to calm her.

"Hey, if he couldn't see how fabulous you are, then he wasn't the right one." This seemed to make her cry even harder. James stayed right beside her until her tears were spent. Some time later she asked,

"James, you said you've been in love before, who was she?"

"Uh, well" he said looking down, then he took a strand of hair and tucked it behind her ear "just a strong, sassy, crimson haired girl."

"Oh, James" she said, pouncing across the bed and capturing him in a hard embrace. James pulled her close, he didn't mind that she was squeezing all the air out of him, he was exactly where he wanted to be.

ESCAPE

It was always dark, he assumed it must be day time, there was a faint light coming from the the small barred window located high on his cell wall. It was one of the few ways he could tell night from day in here, that plus when they brought his meals, if they remembered to bring his meals. Why did they continue to keep him alive? What purpose could he possibly serve? Especially now when they had regained Riverrun. He had made a deal with that golden haired devil, he had avoided bloodshed and saved his men, but now they must bow down to the Freys and he was returned to his life of desolation. He heard the jangle of the key in the door's lock, it must be time for one of his meals.

"Lord Edmure" called a female voice. This was strange, his guards were male, and they usually just tossed his tray into the room, saying little unless it was a snide remark. A small figure passed into the room, she knelt in front of him using the keys to release him from his manacles.

"Lord Walder is dead, we must move quickly while the castle is still in disarray." Walder Frey was dead, well the man was ancient, but many of his sons were just as vile, they wouldn't let him go, who did this girl belong to. She was now at the door checking the dimly lit hallway, she turned and signaled for him to come.

"What of my wife and son?"

"I am afraid they will have to find their own way out." He did not want to leave them behind, but he did not know how to find them. He had to hope that Roslin's own kin wouldn't harm them. He rose on shaky legs and made to follow the girl. She moved quickly and silently down the hall, he felt sluggish and loud following behind her. He had to rely on her entirely, for although he had 'lived' at the Twins for quite some time he knew little of the castle's layout. As they made their way out into a main corridor she stooped picking up a bundle of cloth, when she shook it out he saw it was two shabby cloaks. She placed one around his shoulders and she donned the other.

The further they traveled the more convinced he was that they would be caught. At one point the hallway they were in crossed the path of another, servants ran past in the adjoining hallway. He was certain they would see them and they would be discovered, but the servants never even looked, they were in too much of a hurry. Finally they came to an outer door, when she carefully opened it the sun blinded him for a moment. She had raised the hood on her cloak and indicated he should do the same.

"There is a gate down along the outer wall, used by servants and merchants. I removed the guard earlier, but I must check to make sure the way is still clear. When you hear a whistle make haste." He didn't ask how she had removed the guard, and soon she was gone from sight. Long moments later he heard a high pitched whistle, he moved along the wall as fast as his legs would carry him. He passed through the gate and found her on the other side. She lead him along the river, until among the reeds they found a boat with a rather large boy at the oars. They boarded and made their way down stream. The wind blew her hood back and he got his first good look at his rescuer. She had shoulder length brown hair, a long face and large brown eyes. She seemed so small, but she had great strength in her, she had not been scared at all during their escape.

After a while they pulled up along the shoreline. She got out first, when she determined it was safe she singled for them to disembark. The girl and the boy conversed in hushed tones for a moment, then the boy gave the girl a hug. She turned to him.

"This is Hot Pie. He will see you safely to his inn, although you mustn't stay there long, they'll be looking for you. Hot Pie will make sure you have any supplies you need. One week from now there will be a ship called the Titan's Daughter docked in Maidenpool. If you want, you need only to tell the captain you are a friend of Mercy's and he will transport you across the Narrow Sea to the free city of Braavos."

"Thank you. I owe you my life." As she went to turn away he said "Your mother would be so proud of you." She looked shocked.

"My Mother?"

"Did you think I wouldn't know Ned Stark's daughter when I saw her. You have his look, but there is some of your mother in you as well. You must be their youngest daughter." Her eyes looked wet for a moment, but then she blinked away the moisture.

"Yes, I'm Arya Stark." She seemed quite proud to be making that statement, as if she often did not have the chance.

"Arya, will you be joining me in Maidenpool?"

""No, there is something I must finish" she hesitated a moment "I wish you safe journey, Uncle Edmure."

"May the Gods protect you Arya Stark." How I wish I had a chance to know you, he thought as he watched her disappear into the trees.

VALONQAR

There was so much blood. He was a knight, he had fought in many battles. He knew blood intimately, the sight, the the smell, the taste, but this was different, it was her blood.

Had she really thought he would stand there and do nothing. The enemy was closing in, reports suggested Daenarys Targaryen was less than a days ride away. For days he had been trying to advise her, to make plans, but there was only one plan she was interested in, her own. It was as if the past had come hurtling into the present, but the madness had infected a different body.

Cersei had given Qyburn the order. He had followed him out of the room, and quickly dispatched the old man. When he reentered the room Cersei was sitting facing the windows overlooking the city, a small smile played upon her lips. When he came into her field of vision she showed no worry or fear, even though his sword dripped with blood. He made it quick, one decisive blow piecing her heart.

He had no idea how long he stood there watching her beauty drain from her body. Eventually, he found the strength to stumble out into the hallway. Bronn was there standing over Qyburn's body, he looked at him and his blood soaked sword.

"What have you done?" What had he done, he had changed everything, for himself and for the Seven Kingdoms.

"Jaime" hearing his name pulled him away from his thoughts. Bronn was standing next to him now, looking quite worried, Bronn rarely looked worried. His role as commander asserted itself.

"Tell them to open the gates, everyone is to stand down. Anyone in the Lannister army who wishes to make a run for the Westerlands is free to do so." Bronn looked surprised, but Jaime knew he would follow orders.

"What about the Mountain? Last I heard he was down in the dungeons. He is not going to like any of this" he said gesturing at Qyburn's body.

"Let the Dragon Queen deal with the Mountain."

"And, where will you be?" He couldn't go home, and he couldn't stay here. Was there anywhere, that someone would welcome him with open arms? Suddenly he thought of a tall woman with hair the colour of straw.

"Far away from here" was all he said to Bronn. He turned to walk away, but Bronn called to him.

"Jaime, if reports are correct, your brother is with this Dragon Queen. What should I tell him?"

"Tell him Jaime Lannister is dead." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When Daenary's forces approached the city they found the gates open and the harbour empty. Grey Worm suspected a trap, so the Unsullied forces entered first. They brought back an old man, he told them that most people had fled, those unable to do so had barricaded themselves inside any available building. The man was not able to tell them why no army was there to challenge them.

When they entered the city the place was eerily still. There was only the sound of their horse's hooves and the swoosh of dragon wings above. Tyrion had never heard the city so quiet. Daenarys thought it reminded her of the dead city she had found in the Red Waste. Even the Dothraki, who would love to pillage, did not break the silence. They did not speak until they entered the Red Keep and the throne room. There lounging on the steps to the Iron Throne was one person Tyrion never thought to be so happy to see again. As they crossed the room he stood and bowed.

"Queen Daenarys, may I have the pleasure of introducing Ser Bronn of the Blackwater."

"Your Grace." Bronn tired to give her one of his more engaging smiles.

"It's good to meet you Ser Bronn. Can you tell us what happened here?"

"That is kind of hard to explain, but basically it was decided to not put up a fight."

"Who decided?" Bronn rubbed the back of his neck.

"Well, I guess you could say I decided, seeing as I had been put in charge of what remained of the city watch and the Lannister army. I thought it was best not have men dying for a lost cause."

"And what of my family?" asked Tyrion "Have they fled to Casterly Rock?" A look of pity passed over Bronn's face.

"I'm sorry Tyrion, they're all gone."

"Gone?"

"Dead."

"Jaime?" Bronn nodded.

"If it's any consolation he probably saved this city. He killed your sister. Afterwards, he told me to open the city gates and let any man flee who wished to. Then he climbed to the top of the White Tower and threw himself from the window."

It provided little solace for Tyrion. His brother, his one true friend and defender was gone. He felt like a deep hollow place had taken up residence in his heart. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the same time Daenarys' forces were taking King's Landing, few people would have noticed a single man, in a dark cloak, riding north.

Is That A Cherokee Rose In Front Of Creepy House? I Saw Someone Mention It In YT Comments, So It Went

Is that a Cherokee rose in front of creepy house?  I saw someone mention it in YT comments, so it went back and rewatched the scene.  I am not sure, but it looks like there is a white flower growing among the weeds in front of Carol’s new home.
