A Rose Looks Gentle, Fragile, And Oh So Inviting, The Flower Of Temptation. But That Is Merely A Mask,

A rose looks gentle, fragile, and oh so inviting, the flower of temptation. But that is merely a mask, to hide the dagger-like thorns that it carries, hidden beneath the silky petals. Once a fool attempts to pluck it, unsuspecting of its defense, he will only receive a small droplet of blood as a warning to not try again. It’s true nature revealed.

So what does this mean for the Princess of Valencia, said to be the fairest rose in that beautiful world? Is the delicate being that she shows only a facade that hides a much darker, sharper version of herself? Does the light smile that she bestows upon suitors a dazzling mask so bright that the light blinds outsiders to cover the blood that those same teeth can bring out?

Is the Light of Valencia only a fading facade to hide the darkness within herself?

Kingsisle: “Kane is the smartest, fastest, most strongest being who has endless knowledge of the Spiral and is always several steps ahead of his opponents. He has brought himself to where he commands a whole Armada and has revolutionized warfare in Valencia, transforming it into the greatest imperial power of the whole Spiral. He has created, from scratch, an elite of clockworks that carry his will, who are unfathomably gifted in what he designed them to do. Throughout the game, he is correctly predicting the Pirate’s moves and plans to ruthlessly kill them.”

Lucette only busted into hysterical laughter at the clockwork’s petty insults, the barbs completely missing their target. She laughed for a few more minutes before winding down, wiping away the tears of amusement from her tears.

“Oh, tsk tsk tsk, poor baby. Having such an imperfect, emotional, childish tantrum. Why don’t you go let your old, creaking, rusting cogwheels rest and go take a nap? You look like you need it. My darling, if you think that your meaningless words would hurt me, I am sad to inform you that you are years too late. Someone has already taken up that job and I have learned to lock out the unimportant opinions of sheep and cattle.” Lucette said, throwing the now bloodstained flower crown away and rising up, cheerfully dusting off her silk dress with a grin.

“Ah, wonderful! I actually feel, oddly enough, much lighter now. Somewhat relaxed. I’m astonished, clockwork. You actually managed to complete your purpose for once. I’m so proud!” Lucette said cheerfully, clapping her hands in devilish delight. Stepping out of the little clearing, she glanced back behind with a sly smirk.

“Anymore tantrums you want to throw at me before I report back to Kane? Do hurry though, I heard that Rooke is due to leave to Mooshu soon and who knows what the pirate will do to him there. Smash him into pieces, slowly dismember, rip out his inner circuits, blow a hole into him with a cannon. Sooo many ways to kill and torture a clockwork. And it would be all your fault. Another failure on your already long list.” Lucette said, and even though with Talia’s position she would not be able to see the front of Lucette, she would no doubt hear the distorted warping of her voice, changing into one not her own.

“Did you see the actual tale itself or something that reminds you of it? And how are you certain that you will not be forgotten?”

She asked in her royal tone used in meetings or at Court. She tilted her head in curiosity when the clockwork started scribbling something on the notepad. She had noticed it earlier but never commented on it out of concern of more important things.

“And may I ask why you carry that around and under your hat of all places?”

———-

Talia made a motion with her head, clearly an eyeroll if she had eyes.

She stood up and walked over to a red and yellow flower and squatted down to it, staring at it.

“I’ve been around longer than you could ever imagine. I was a last minute adjustment to a simple record keeping bot.”

Talia sat down on the ground, crossinf her legs.

“I’ve seen far much and been apart of far much more than you could imagine. Far much more than any stormy any wrinkle on a old dog’s face could tell.”

Talia looked back to Lucette.

“Oh. And bots don’t have pockets. Usually.”

She paused again.

“…and Rooke taught me to.”

“Obviously not, considering your imperfect reactions earlier.” Lucette sneered at the clockwork.

“A literary bot? What nonsense will Uncle and Bishop think up next? Can they not spell? Is Uncle’s mind not as perfect as he claims it to be, every minute of the day? Does he need a bot to kiss his ego every morning and every night too?!” Lucette ranted loudly, glaring at the palace where Kane was. Most of her frustration was from her Uncle’s pointless arrogance when he makes mistakes every time he makes a destructive, emotional, mistake making bots. Especially that stuttering, hissing fool, Bishop!

“The only change in response you are going to receive is be silent. The only reason I let you come is because you have the capacity of silence. I meant what I said and I said what I meant. I could care less about the relationship between you and Rooke. As long as you both fulfill your purposes, everything else is meaningless.” Lucette dismissed the question, giving the clockwork one last sharp glare before closing her eyes and relaxing.
