Terrus knocked on the door to the guest suite three times, leaning his ornate rifle against his soldier at rest. While he trusted Lucette, he was wary and suspicious of this stranger that she let stay in their home. He has not told them his story nor has he spoken about this supposed “faraway world” he ruled. While he was polite, expressed sufficient gratitude, and respected Lucette’s authority, the lack of information they had on him was alarming.

The young princess was enraptured by the story, her expression turning into one of sadness when he talked about the war with dragons.
“But why would they do such a thing? Why has this war been started?” She asked sadly, confused on why they would attack dragons. That was their home too, was it not?

Terrus rolled his eyes, but was satisfied with the answer.
“Well, my congratulations to you both. Now, if you’ll please follow me, I will lead you to Her Highness’ apartments.” He said, pivoting on his heel to march out the guest rooms, leading the man to Lucette’s chambers, passing through the white and gold antechamber, he entered the Nobles’ Room, turning left to pass through another pair of doors into a lavish private dining room. A room with walls covered in mirrors with a marble table in the middle covered in gold cloth, showing the clockwork gear symbol of Valencia. At the head of the table was Lucette, who had just put down her book and rose to greet them.
“Arcturus a pleasure to see you well. I hope the gears all around you didn’t hinder your sleep.” She greeted with a soft smile.
“Alright Lucy, I brought. I’ll be in the sitting room taking my nap that you interrupted.” He said somewhat sassily, lifting his rifle onto his shoulders as he turned to leave.
“You’re not eating with us?” She asked sadly, her smile dropping into a confused frown. Terrus froze and then sighed, turning around to place a kiss on her cheek.
“We can gelato later on your balcony.” He compromised. Seeing the bright grin bloom on her face again, he gave her another kiss, this time on her forehead before leaving the dining room. When he was gone, she gave Arcturus a sad smile.
“Did he say something?”

“You were the young prince...weren’t you?” Lucette asked, though it came out as more of a statement than a question.
“You watched this all happen and grew to resent fire.” She continued quietly. A sad story with a sad ending. Greed and arrogance claimed another. A vicious disease, indeed.
