it's a new age now

An album from a fictional band that exists in the world of a project I'm working on. This is a redraw (original artwork here) and the speedpaint, comparison, & my commentary is below!

Original vs. Remake comparison:

Looking at it now, I like the original's contrast with the purple bg and yellow text as well as the "punk-iness" (not really lol) of the patterns. I dumbed it down a little in the remake which is kind of a bummer, but I'm fine with it tbh.

For the remake, I finally allowed myself to loosen up on lighting, you can see that I added it by small streaks on Arthur (the guy on the remake and Plutonic Invasion's lead singer). I like this change because I think I usually overuse simple, crisp cel shading mixed with Add/Soft Light layers.

For being something I did for fun, I love how this piece challenged me to improve. 10/10
