I woke up, wrote this at 4 am last night, then went back to sleep… I thought I’d share it with you.

Too Young

You say that I’m too young for this. That we are all too young for this.

You say that our generation is too young.

Too young to have opinions on our president

Too young to have our own views on gun control

Too young to be LGBT

Too young to be depressed

Too young to be afraid of going to school

Too young to be nihilistic in the way that we are

Well guess what?

You’re right.

We are too young to have to deal with an aspiring dictator

We are too young to be forced to demand we don’t be shot in our schools

We are too young to have to deal with assholes like you who think it’s just a phase

We are too young to be developing mental illness, because of the environment we are growing up in

We are too young to hear a noise outside the classroom and prepare for death

We are too young to have to cover our sadness with needless humour

And to those of you who find this offensive, or are upset at us for being the way we are and thinking the way we do,
