chapter four. premium seats

𝜗𝜚 You smile and wave as you exit your building, seeing Beomgyu waiting outside, carrying several bags of camera equipment. “Need some help there, Gyu?” He nods and sighs with relief as you take one of the bags from around his neck.

“So, you ready to go?” he asks, peering at you inquisitively.

“Ready as I’ll ever be. Somehow, I haven’t been to a single game the whole time we’ve been here.” The two of you begin the walk to the stadium, deciding not to drive since your apartment is only a 10-minute walk from the field.

As you walk, you chat about mundane things: school, work, and what music you’ve been liking lately. Eventually, the topic turns to crushes.

“So, I noticed you’ve been posting a lot about a certain someone on your Twitter. What’s that about?” You roll your eyes.

“Not you too, Gyu. I just think he’s cute. Is that a crime?”

He laughs and nudges you with his elbow. “It’s not a crime, but I’ve got a source that tells me he thinks you’re cute too.”

You rub your ribs where he just poked you. “Yeah, right. Does this source happen to be Ningning?”

“No, actually, Jungwon and I were talking about it at work the other day. He told me not to tell you, but he should’ve known I’d do it anyway.”

You laugh at his slight sass, trying not to take him too seriously. “Jungwon was probably just messing around.”

“Is it so hard to believe that he might actually like you?” Beomgyu asks, not willing to drop the topic so quickly.

“Yes, it is hard to believe when you consider the fact that he hasn’t spoken a word to me,” you say firmly, hoping he’ll just let the topic go, especially since you’re nearing the soccer field.

As you enter the stadium, Beomgyu reaches into his bag, producing two press name tags. “Premium seats, baby!” You smile and take the lanyard, awkwardly draping it around your neck since your hands are full with his camera equipment.

You enter the stadium through the field tunnel, watching as Beomgyu immediately rushes to find Yeonjun. You trail behind him, observing his excited gestures as he waves over Yeonjun and a few other members of the team.

“Oh! Also, this is Y/N! She’s gonna help me with the pictures today.” You smile awkwardly and wave gently as he takes the bags from you, placing them on a nearby bench.

“Cool, you work with Jungwon and Soobin, right?” You look up to see Jake Sim looking right at you.

Your face goes a little red and suddenly feels warm. “Oh, yeah, I do.” Looking at him up close, you realize how cute he is, and you can tell he’s about to say something more when the coach’s voice rings through your ears. “Well, it was nice to meet you. The game’s about to start. Make sure to cheer for me.” He winks at you, and then he’s gone.

Beomgyu makes his way to your side, noticing your flushed face and smile. “I was gone for like, a minute. Don’t tell me you guys are already in love.” You shriek and hit his arm.

“Stop! What if he hears you?”

The two of you get your cameras ready, you're no great photographer, but you do enjoy taking pictures sometimes.

The announcer introduces both teams as you snap a few shots, moving around the sidelines, careful to avoid any flying balls or players.

An hour and a half later, the game is over, with the HYBE U soccer team securing the win, and you and Beomgyu securing some great pictures.

The two of you make your way over to the team once again, with Beomgyu excitedly showing Yeonjun the pictures he got. You stand awkwardly a few paces behind him, waiting for him to be done so you can head out.

You're lost in thought when you hear your name, looking up to see Jake standing in front of you, somehow still looking good after playing an entire soccer game.

"Y/N, the team, and Beomgyu are gonna go to dinner later to celebrate, wanna come with?"

You look at Beomgyu, who's now facing you and giving you a thumbs up and a wink, "Yeah sure! sounds like fun, we'll probably have to drop off the camera equipment though."

Jake smiles at this, excited that you accepted his invitation, "No, yeah, that's totally fine! The guys and I are gonna hit the showers and stuff, so it'll be a while anyway."

"Alright then, I can give you my number so you can text me when you're ready to meet up?" You smile shyly, hoping he won't think too hard about the fact that Beomgyu definitely has a way to contact the team.

"Really? I mean, yeah that'd be good." He laughs and pulls out his phone, handing it to you so you can type in your number.

You type it in and enter your name, adding a few emojis before handing the phone back to him.

"I'll see you later then." You excuse yourself and head over to Beomgyu, internally dying at the fact that you'd just given him your phone number.

As the pair exits the stadium, Jake looks at your contact and feels his face grow warm. You'd given him your number and added emojis to your contact.

This feeling of warmth grows even more as Sunghoon grabs his phone, looking at the contact, exclaiming, "Dude she wants you so bad!"

His phone is then passed around the team, your contact glaring brightly on his phone. 𝜗𝜚
