if hypothetically i was a pirate captain in 1654 and, hypothetically, you were a mermaid that got injured in our nets, and i took you in on our prize hunt to tend to your wounds and you (i’m speculating here) stayed in my cabin to sleep by day so you could stay with the ship and swam alongside us by night and, if this were to happen, i would tell you stories of my time on land and of the many wonders of the world i had visited (and though i would not be too bold as to say it, none could compare to you)  and you would tell me of your life at sea and of the most magical places not yet written on the blank corners of the map, and if, hypothetically, when we finally took a prize and came to port i met you by the docks by night to see you and maybe kiss you, and on our last night before going back out to sea i asked you to stay with me on my ship and be my pirate-mermaid girlfriend, what would you say?

the utter freedom that the rain gives you is impeccable
