Bruce Reached Up With His Free Hand And Rubbed At His Face. "Thank You. You Don't Know How Much That

Bruce reached up with his free hand and rubbed at his face. "Thank you. You don't know how much that means to me." Bruce smiled tearfully. "That's a beautiful name. But you don't... It doesn't have to be my last name. If you..." Bruce looked over at her. "I don't know."

Four months. That was how long it had been since she'd last seen Bruce and it was driving her crazy. Two months prior she had gone to see Hank, thinking she had caught the stomach flu that had been going around. It turned out that that wasn't the case. She was pregnant. She honestly hadn't known what to do, Bruce had already left for a calmer place and she didn't have a reliable way to reach him. Finally, two months later, she was able to get a text through. [text] I need to talk to you asap.

Bruce frowned down at his phone. The woman talking frantically next to him quieted, and he stood. He assured the woman, in Bengali, that all was okay, and he would be right back. He left the woman and his patient and ducked outside, tapping out a reply.

[text] Okay, what’s up? Unless you’d prefer I called?

Bruce smiled reservedly. "No. No, not normally." Bruce shrugged one shoulder. "But this isn't exactly normal, is it?"

Bruce let go of her hand and took a seat, running his hands through his hair and taking deep breaths. "I'm sorry. I'm just..." Bruce laughed. "I'm starting to get all..." He waved his hands, then looked up at Andie. "My heart rate's going up."

"Let him go all mushy," Bruce joked. "There aren't a lot of babies around here." Bruce opened his mouth to say something to Hank, but Hank spoke before him, pointing to the screen.

"There it is," Hank informed them, tracing around the shape of their baby. Bruce squeezed Andie's hand and leaned forward to get a better look.

DON’T FEEL BAD ABOUT IT.

Bruce seemed to freeze in place before he just leaned forward, pressing his forehead against Andie's.

"We're having a baby girl," Bruce laughed tearfully. He shut his eyes and shook his head against hers. "God, I never thought-"
