SCENARIO:

johnnie would like to think that he isn't a jealous person, but undeniably he is. there's not a worse feeling than seeing the person you love fawn over another.

the feeling that grows in his stomach is unsettling, it makes him want to throw up. do you always scrunch your nose up when you laugh? is this guys jokes really that funny? the way you throw your head back and let out a loud cackle makes it seem so, but johnnie fully believes you're putting on a show. johnnie's funny too. you would know if you weren't so busy cuddled up under...brian? brad? whatever his name is, it doesn't matter. that should be him.

jake had been talking johnnie's ear off for the past 15 minutes about a small brawl that happened between two girls, or was it two guys? johnnie couldn't remember, his eyes had been laser focused on you the entire evening, his ears only picking up bits and pieces of jake's story. the sight hurt him, truthfully. it really shouldn't have because you two weren't dating but he did believe there was something going on between you two. an unspoken mutual attraction.

"dude, you haven't blinked once in the past twenty minutes i've been talking to you." jake worriedly mentioned with raised eyebrows.

jake's small comment easily caught johnnie off-guard. he rubbed his eyes with his free hand before rapidly blinking. his taller friend was joking but it was comical to see the emo get red in the face from embarrassment.

"just go talk to them." jake muttered, following his friends gaze. "they're busy, can't you tell?" johnnie mumbled bitterly before finally tearing his eyes away from your form for the first time that night.

he looked down at the solo cup that he maintained a loose grip on, woefully swirling the alcohol in choppy motions. he couldn't even remember what he was drinking at that point. ever since he laid eyes on that familiar face it's all he's been thinking about. you. you. you.

as well as the fact that all of your attention was on some other guy when it should be him.

jake scoffed before taking a quick sip of his drink, head shaking in disappointment. "just go talk to her, i can't stand to see you looking like a kicked puppy all night."

he tapped johnnie's shoulder a few times before escaping off into another conversation.

johnnie's gaze followed jake's form until he was fully out of sight, turning his full attention back to you. what he didn't expect was for your eyes to already be settled on him, making him freeze in the spot.

you offered him a kind smile before waving him over. he hesitated in his steps before taking quick strides over to you. what happened to that guy you were talking to?

"hey." he quietly muttered with a tight lipped smile. "hey, are you enjoying the party?" you asked. from that sentence alone, johnnie quickly came to the conclusion that you were fucked up. your smile was wide and blissful, eyes glossy and spaced out, not to mention the drunken drawl in your voice.

"sure, are..are you okay?" johnnie asked, a worried tilt in his voice. you nodded your head with closed eyes. the way your head lolled to the side and the cheshire grin on your face made johnnie think that you weren't fully aware of how drunk you had gotten.

"have you met my new friend brandon? he just went to go make us some more drinks. but he's so funny, i swear you'll love him." your pronunciation of words was all over the place and you could barely keep your eyes from closing.

oh, right. brandon was his name. johnnie rolled his eyes at the simple mention of the man before sighing and taking the seat next to you. even with your dazed state you could see the clear annoyance on his face. "i think it's time we get you home, hm?" johnnie muttered, eyes softening at your doe eyed stare.

"you don't like him, do you?" you asked quietly, completely ignoring johnnie's last statement. his eyebrows furrowed at your comment, slightly caught off guard by your question. "what? what do you mean? who don't i like?"

"brandon. you've been staring knives at us the whole time we've been talking."

shit. you saw him? "i-i dont even know the guy enough to hate him." johnnie nervously croaked out, his smile fell weak as he avoided your gaze.

"if i didn't know any better id say...you're jealous." you muttered, a sly smile growing on your lips. "what? no! come on, let's get you home, you're talking nonsense."

"don't you wanna wait for brandon?" you asked looking up at him as he grabbed your arm, pulling you up. "no." he immediately answered with slightly widened eyes.

you couldn't help the giggle that escaped your mouth as you leaned into him for support. "you're definitely jealous." you quietly stated another muted laugh following after.

HEADCANONS:

he gets quieter. johnnie himself isn't the loudest most out-spoken person but when shuffles to the side and stops inserting himself in certain conversations, you'll know something's wrong.

becomes passive aggressive. he doesn't really mean to, it just comes naturally. the person that you seem to take a liking to makes a joke at someones expense and johnnie will find a way to turn it back on them. adding in snippy comments whenever they talk open their mouth and scoffing in disbelief when you laugh at one of their corny jokes.

tries to act unbothered. he'll force a smile and shrug his shoulders if someone asks him if he's okay. his responses are curt and have a monotonous tone, his voice straining sometimes as he forces out an "i'm good." he thinks he looks cool and unbothered when in his jealous state but instead he looks spaced out and miserable. it's very noticeable how frigid his posture becomes, his jaw clenching in annoyance as he stares daggers at whoever is taking up too much of your time.

overthinks. johnnie has been hurt before and he doesn't want it to happen again. his mind starts to go to a dark place and insecurities start to rise to the surface. he hates feeling this way so once he realizes these harmful thoughts are starting to come back he won't hesitate to voice his thoughts to you. you mean a lot to him and he'd hate for your relationship to go off of the rails because of a lack of trust or because of an insecurity that's been uprooted.

will isolate himself. if he's feeling jealous to the point of anger then he'll outwardly avoid you until he cools down. he goes to the quietest place available and is just alone with his thoughts, which isn't the best idea when he's starting to lose confidence in the role of being your boyfriend.

seeks comfort. in all honesty johnnie doesn't get jealous that easily, it's a rare thing. but when it does happen it's kind of hard to pull him out of that self-deprecating headspace. he won't outright ask for your comfort but as you build your relationship and notice his habits, it's easy to realize when he's in need of some reassurance.

he'll become a fidgety and nervous mess. his thoughts becoming more clouded and loud as time went on. half of his thoughts are telling him to grow a pair and the other half are worriedly expressing their concerns about the state of your relationship. he really just needs to hear you say that he's all you want/need.

once he gets that reassurance that he's the love of your life accompanied with an unwavering confidence from you, he starts to feel all better. even a bit cocky when he hears how you fawn over him. his once congested thoughts become clear of any and all doubt and he's suddenly smiling from ear to ear. he realizes how stupid it was to feel any type of jealousy when it's clear that the love you share for each other is equal.

johnnie's crush on you developed out of the blue, in all honesty. it wasn't love at first sight, like he was struck by cupids arrow. it was more of a quickly approaching train from a distance coming towards him while he was tied down to the tracks. it took him a while to finally catch onto his feelings, but once the realization hit, it hit him hard.

He was always attracted to you physically, but getting to know you more made that attraction grow emotionally as well.

He'd find himself thinking about you constantly. he'd wonder what you'd be wearing today and if anything you wore would correlate with his outfit so he could point it out. he'd think about you at gatherings when you're not there, always thinking about how he'd have 10x more fun if you were there.

he's always trying to strike up a conversation with you. if there's an opportunity johnnie can take to talk to you, he's gonna take it. sometimes he'll even approach you before having a conversation starter ready in his head.

tries to make you laugh. he'll do whatever he can to hear that pretty laugh of yours that he's grown to love. he'll embarrass himself and draw enough attention to form a crowd if it'll get a half-hearted chuckle out of you. he'll even bring out timmy if he really wants to force that laugh out of you.

gravitates towards you. at parties, or just friendly dinners, johnnie will always find a place next to you. sometimes he doesn't even try to, his body is just naturally attracted to your energy. most of the time he does look for you first out of the crowd, and if he can't find you he goes to jake and asks for you. on more than one occasion he's asked someone to trade spots with him to get closer to you.

plays with your hair. he does it unconsciously. if you're standing or sitting close by him he'll find himself zoning out and pulling on a strand of your hair, softly twisting and twirling it between his fingers. if you have boundaries on your hair and don't like it to be touched or just have really short hair, he'll instead substitute it for your accessories. tugging on whatever bracelet, belt, or necklace you have on.

talks quieter around you. whenever you two are having a conversation his voice gets significantly softer. he'll go from screeching at jake to whispering at you. his entire demeanor eases and he's suddenly right in front of you exchanging hushed whispers and quiet laughs.

avoids eye-contact. if you're someone that makes intense/unwavering eye-contact with people when talking, johnnie simply wouldn't be able to handle it. his eyes would dart in all types of directions before finally landing back on you, he'd only be able to hold it for so long.

protective of you. in any heated discussion johnnie will be there to back you up. if someone's talking shit he'd be the first to defend your name while insulting the person who's talking down on you in the same breath. if one of your friends are playing a cruel joke on you, he'll be the first to rush to your side and shield you from prying eyes.

creates a playlist for you. one of his most listened to playlists is the one he made for you. the title is your name with a simple black heart and the run time of it is at least 2 hours or more. if you recommend any songs to him they'll go directly into that playlist without fail. he likes to keep the playlist on a loop when he's doing mundane tasks around the house.

always finds some way to mention you. it annoys literally everyone with how much he brings you up but he can't put a stop to it even if he wanted to. the most random things could remind him of you and some poor soul has to be stuck with him fawning over you again because somehow an empty baskin robbin's cup in the middle of a parking lot reminded him of you.

indulges in your interests. if you loosely mention that you're interested in something, johnnie will go into full research mode and figure out the lore behind whatever game/movie/tv show/book you're interested in. anytime you have a conversation about that topic he'll bust out a random fact in hopes that it'll impress you.

genuinely wants your opinion on things. he cares about your point of view on things, so it's only natural that he goes to you for advice and to hear your thoughts on certain things.

a bit more affectionate with you. it's the little things that someone would really have to pay attention to take notice of. his affections simply include fixing your jacket that's sliding off of your shoulder, pulling your hair from under your jacket, putting an arm out in-front of you if you've ever came close to running into someone, asking if you've eaten, letting you fall asleep on his shoulder on long car rides, etc . . .

responds to all the tik toks you send. you could send 20+ tik toks over the course of an afternoon and he'd watch every single one of them, responding to each of them with either an emoji or a drawn out text. it might take him a while to respond to all of them but he will eventually.

always picks up your calls. it doesn't really matter where he is or who he's with, if you're calling he's gonna answer. he could be mid-shit on the toilet or at a loud overcrowded party with blasting music, it doesn't matter. he'll always answer even if the call ends up being just 2 minutes because you wanted his opinion on what shoes you should wear. he'll never regret answering the phone for you.

waits patiently for you. even though you might not return his feelings, he still has love for you. he will patiently wait for you as long as he needs to if it meant you'd return his affections at some point.

001. he's constantly mentioning you two together in the future.

you and johnnie are practically glued at the hip. you two get a lot of alone time together, meaning that the both of you conjure up many conversations. a lot of the time your conversations lack meaning and just consist of brainless babbling partnered with unabashed cackles. every conversation was different, but one thing that never changed was johnnie's endless desire to keep you in his life.

without a doubt, in every situation, and scenario that you two have thought about johnnie has always found a way to include you in his future plans, even when it was unwarranted.

a zombie apocalypse happens? you and johnnie are gonna have your own cabin in the woods with an unlimited food supply. alien invasion? you and johnnie would have on matching alien costumes and pretend to be them so you wouldn't get abducted, but even if you did it'd at least be together. All of those scenarios were fun to imagine, but the ones that mattered the most were his real future plans and goals. they mattered to him because they all included you. whenever you feel yourself getting uneasy about what the world would bring to you in the future, johnnie would calm you down by reminding you that no matter what, he'll always be there.

002. his affection is endless.

his actions started off, small and simple. fixing the strings of your hoodies if they were uneven, holding out his hand and helping you down from high or steep places, lending you his jackets when you're cold. all of those actions seemed futile and went unnoticed by most because johnnie was a nice guy. anything he did for you he'd probably do for anyone else.

but then the touches became more...intimate. he'd start holding your hand when you crossed streets together, moving stray hairs from your face when the wind blew them against you, hug you from behind whenever you found yourself distracted by a task. johnnie's increase in affection became noticeable to everyone, even you. but what shocked everyone a bit more was how easily you reciprocated his affection.

people who are just friends don't kiss each other on the cheek and forehead as a goodbye. people who are just friends don't cuddle each other the way you two do. people who are just friends don't leave hickeys on each other's neck. so why did you and johnnie do those things?

003. is uncharacteristically overprotective.

johnnie wasn't the most confrontational guy until it came down to the people he cared about. usually you're able to hold your own in certain situations but lately, before you can even process that someone was mean to you, johnnie has already come to your rescue.

for certain verbal arguments johnnie will stay out of it until the person starts to get aggressive and in your face. he won't hesitate to step in between you two or even curse them out himself. recently you haven't been able to get a word out because of how quick he is to jump to your defense.

you can't fully remember when this overprotective boyfriend' act started to come into play but as time went on, everyone around him, including you could see how his once platonic acts of friendship turned into much more. the way he'd constantly check on you to make sure you're okay after, or how he'd pull you away from the situation to a secluded area and just hold you while resting his head onto yours. everything was changing so quickly, you and johnnie have always been friends but recently you couldn't tell if what you were feeling towards him was just platonic anymore.

004. invites you out on "hangouts" that seem exclusively meant for couples.

you never questioned johnnie's motives when he invited you to hangout until one of your friends brought up the fact that johnnie never invited them to go on the special hangouts you two did.

the drive-in theaters where you'd share a blanket in the trunk of your car, the trips to barnes & nobles where you'll just sit in a corner trying to laugh quietly until you get kicked out, the late night walks to nearby parks where he'll just so conveniently have enough snacks for the both of you to share as you sit next to each other on the swings and stargaze, and you couldn't forget the times where you'll just hangout together in one another's house, baking, playing board games, and watching scary movies.

you wouldn't want to do those things with anyone else, and johnnie felt the same. he craved that feeling of tranquility where he could just shut out the rest of the world with you. you were his safe place, his comfort person.

005. he looks at you like you've hung the stars.

the stares don't go unnoticed by anyone. the way johnnie looks at you is fairly obvious to any person that what he feels for you is beyond what friends feel for each other.

once he settles his eyes on you it’ll be hard for him to look anywhere else. you're one of the prettiest sights johnnie has ever seen, and he has no problem admitting that to you.

he'll stare until something breaks him out of his trance, but if no one stops him he'll stare for hours. it's not meant to make you uncomfortable, he just really enjoys looking at you. it might creep you out sometimes when you can see him out of the corner of your eye just staring at you. if you ever cover your face in embarrassment johnnie would be quick to pull your arms from your face and remind you why he stares.

when you two finally admit your feelings for one another and become a couple, not much changes. you act the exact same with just a bit more affection. this time around he won't hesitate to kiss you or pull you into a hug even if you're in front of cameras.

pda isn't a regular occurrence between the two of you. every time you or him initiated affection with one another in public it made you both shy. you were just now stepping out of the "best friend" stage and into lovers so everything was new and took some getting used to.

you and johnnie were shopping together at target for a few baking necessities, you were having a contest against tara and jake to see who could make the best dessert.

as you were pushing the cart and looking on the shelves for items you thought you'd need, you became slightly startled at johnnie's sudden yelling. "babe! look, they have chucky cupcake toppers." he shouted excitedly running towards you from behind.

before you could turn your head in his direction you felt one of his hands rest on your lower back that was slightly exposed, his cold rings pressed into your warm skin making the contrast of temperatures distract you from whatever he had been telling you about.

"huh? oh, uhm, those are neat. d'you wanna get them?" you asked after processing his excitement. "hell yeah." he replied with a smile before throwing them into your cart, his hand remaining on your waist.

"have you found anything cool yet? i really wanna beat jake at this after he called me a shit baker." he murmured with a small furrow of his brows.

you nodded with a hum of confirmation as you both started to make your way into the next isle. your attempts to speak were futile as you could only focus on the way his thumb slowly caressed your skin. he did it with such ease as if it was second nature to him.

"good, tara and jake don't stand a chance against us." he hummed in triumph before pressing a small kiss against your temple. at this point you were starting to feel dizzy at the amount of affection you were receiving but you loved it at the same time. you don't know where this sudden burst of confidence and tenderness came from but you never wanted it to end.

"i really like you." you blurted out of nowhere with slightly widened eyes as if you had come to a sudden revelation.

johnnie couldn't help his widening smile as he replied without hesitation, "i like you too."

— SETTING BOUNDARIES

you don't know what had gotten into johnnie, but ever since you arrived at his house with one of your friends, jamie. he had been distant, almost as if he was avoiding you. it annoyed you to no end because you couldn't recall a single thing that you had done to evoke this reaction out of him.

you were able to find him alone long into the night and pulled him aside. he reluctantly followed you with a noticeable frown on his face.

"what's wrong?" you ask as you close his bedroom door behind you two. "nothing." he replied, shrugging his shoulders before reaching for the door handle. thankfully in that moment you were faster than he was and stopped him from grabbing a hold of the door knob.

"please, just tell me what i did." you murmured, your eyebrows furrowed in worry as you searched his eyes for any type of answer. he sucked in a breath before releasing it.

you patiently waited for him to speak, removing your hand from the knob which gave him the comfort that you trusted him.

"why didn't you call me to pick you up?" he asked lowly, his eyes trained on his hands that were fiddling with his rings. "hm? wha- baby, me and jamie were both coming over so i thought it would just make sense for us to carpool." you explained.

"yeah, but...i don't know. i'm a reliable boyfriend, right?" "of course you are. i just didn't want you to do extra work." "i'd do that extra work for you. i want to do it for you."

you smiled, you were endeared more than anything and all annoyance had left. "and you can. but in the future, if you're upset with me please, just talk to me. ignoring each other won't make our problems and insecurities go away." you suggested, wrapping your arms around his neck.

he hummed in agreement with a growing smile, all while wrapping his arms around your waist. "okay, i promise to communicate. and im sorry for making you worried."

— FIRST KISS

date nights with johnnie was one of your favorite things to do. you loved spending time with him so anything you two decided to do would be time well spent. this time around johnnie and you were in his house, having a night in together.

both of you were freshly showered with smooth, clear skin from your 3 hour long self-care time. you and johnnie found yourself in the living room together watching horror movies and playing board games.

there were loads of snacks and drinks surrounding the both of you along with a takeout box of food the both of you shared.

"ugh, you're such a cheater, johnnie." you groaned with a frown as you pulled 8 cards from the uno pile. he let out one of his giggles as he looked between his two cards that he had left. "or maybe you're just really bad." he replied, setting down another card before loudly shouting 'uno!'

you paused, a small mischievous smile started to grow on your face which made johnnie raise a questioning brow at you. before he could ask you had got up from your seat and tried to snatch his card, unfortunately he was too fast for you and cradled the card to his chest. "hey!" he shouted out, his laughs increasing as you continued trying to fight for his card.

"let me see your card!" you shouted through giggles as you climbed over him, reaching for his card. "no, you cheater!" he squeaked out as he continued to hold it from your grabby hands. even when johnnie tried his best to keep the card from you, you still were able to maneuver from his grip.

"thank you!" you triumphantly yelled out, but before you could celebrate any further johnnie had you pinned under him, hovering over you with squinted eyes and quivering lips as he tried to hide his smile.

"give me my card." he spoke quietly, his eyes trailing down to it clutched to your chest. you shook your head 'no', any and all words refusing to slip past your lips.

"is there anything i could do in exchange for my card back?" he asked in a whisper, his eyes trailing back and forth from your eye to your lips. unconsciously you bit your bottom lip, wanting the same thing as him. "maybe one thing." you softly said, both of you inching closer until you were sharing the same breath.

he stared into your eyes for a moment, a look of desperate need filtered behind his eyes. "is this okay?" he asked, touching the tip of his nose against yours. you could only hum in response before your lips collided. you truthfully can't remember who kissed who, but all you know is that you never wanted it to end.

— FIRST FIGHT

you can't really remember what led up to the intense moment, all you know is that you wanted it to end. you and johnnie had been at each others throat for over an hour now and you were starting to get tired. both of you tried to keep your voices calm and soft when addressing the other, but this time around something had gotten to both of you enough for you to yell and curse each other out.

you let out a pathetic sigh, letting your head fall into your hands. before you could stop yourself you felt the tears falling, your sobs being muffled by your hands. The room stilled in silence at the sound of your cries, Johnnie's rage completely sub-sided when he turned to face you. Seeing your curled up form on the edge of the bed made any sense of anger dissipate as he made his way towards you.

"god, i'm so sorry, baby." he murmured before sitting next to you, pulling your body into his arms. whatever you two were arguing about couldn't have been so serious to make you burst into tears. he slowly dragged both of your bodies further onto the bed before laying down and pulling your body onto his. he pulled one of your legs over his torso, one of his arms wrapped around your shoulder while his other hand rested on your lower thigh.

he pressed a small kiss to your forehead as your cries died down. "i'm sorry we fought." you whispered, nuzzling your head into his neck. "i am too...let's not fight like this again, alright?..i hate seeing you so upset, baby."

you slowly nodded before lifting your head up enough to make direct eye-contact with him. his blue eyes were clouded with tears that hadn't yet fallen. before he could release another breath you brought one of your hands up to his face, turning his head towards yours and connecting your lips. so much affection and remorse went into the kiss, promising to yourselves that in the future you'll be better, for each other.

— FIRST I LOVE YOU

a long night of drinking and hanging out with your friends was finally coming to an end. you wobbled into your apartment, johnnie not too far behind as he had one of his hands on your lower back, trying desperately to keep you steady after your countless stumbles and shaky balance.

not many words had been exchanged between the two of you as johnnie guided you to your bedroom. "wait right here, i'll be back soon, okay?" he demanded softly. his hand that rested on your check slowly slipped away as he made his way out of the bedroom and somewhere off into your apartment.

you slowly started to undress, removing your shoes first and sluggishly removing the rings and necklaces you had decided to wear. johnnie came back into the room with a glass of water, setting it on your nightstand before walking off into your bedroom, shuffling around and grabbing whatever he thought he'd need.

the house was serene and comfortable. you couldn't do much but watch johnnie in admiration as he took care of you. he removed your makeup and frequently took breaks to give you sips of water when he felt like you went too long without it. "don't ever get this drunk without me around, kay?" he quietly reprimanded as he slid your pajama pants on.

you only nodded, fighting off the sleep as best as you could as he pulled the blankets up to your chin. "are you staying?" you asked hopefully. he faltered in his steps when throwing your clothes into your laundry hamper. "if you want me to." "i always want you to."

you fought your sleep ruthlessly while johnnie got himself ready to join you. your eyelids grew heavier by the second and your entire body felt glued to the mattress. your eyes fluttered open at the sound of a gentle laugh. "you didn't have to wait for me." he said quietly while getting himself comfortable into the spot next to yours.

"yeah, but i wanted to."

johnnie only hummed in response as he got cozy under the heavy covers. "johnnie." you whispered, turning your body towards his fully. "yes, baby."

"i love you."

the room fell into complete silence as johnnie slowly shifted towards you. "what did you say?"

"i appreciate how much you do for me johnnie...and i love you. i-i promise im not drunk either, i've sobered up a lot actually. i just...i just realized how much you mean to me."

he yanked your body into his embrace, a small oomf falling from your lips at the impact of colliding with his chest. "i love you more. so much more than you could imagine." he breathed out, his voice slightly cracking in the process as he was filled with so much emotion. "i loved you yesterday, i love you tonight, tomorrow, and will continue to love you each day after that."

001. he's constantly mentioning you two together in the future.

you and johnnie are practically glued at the hip. you two get a lot of alone time together, meaning that the both of you conjure up many conversations. a lot of the time your conversations lack meaning and just consist of brainless babbling partnered with unabashed cackles. every conversation was different, but one thing that never changed was johnnie's endless desire to keep you in his life.

without a doubt, in every situation, and scenario that you two have thought about johnnie has always found a way to include you in his future plans, even when it was unwarranted.

a zombie apocalypse happens? you and johnnie are gonna have your own cabin in the woods with an unlimited food supply. alien invasion? you and johnnie would have on matching alien costumes and pretend to be them so you wouldn't get abducted, but even if you did it'd at least be together. All of those scenarios were fun to imagine, but the ones that mattered the most were his real future plans and goals. they mattered to him because they all included you. whenever you feel yourself getting uneasy about what the world would bring to you in the future, johnnie would calm you down by reminding you that no matter what, he'll always be there.

002. his affection is endless.

his actions started off, small and simple. fixing the strings of your hoodies if they were uneven, holding out his hand and helping you down from high or steep places, lending you his jackets when you're cold. all of those actions seemed futile and went unnoticed by most because johnnie was a nice guy. anything he did for you he'd probably do for anyone else.

but then the touches became more...intimate. he'd start holding your hand when you crossed streets together, moving stray hairs from your face when the wind blew them against you, hug you from behind whenever you found yourself distracted by a task. johnnie's increase in affection became noticeable to everyone, even you. but what shocked everyone a bit more was how easily you reciprocated his affection.

people who are just friends don't kiss each other on the cheek and forehead as a goodbye. people who are just friends don't cuddle each other the way you two do. people who are just friends don't leave hickeys on each other's neck. so why did you and johnnie do those things?

003. is uncharacteristically overprotective.

johnnie wasn't the most confrontational guy until it came down to the people he cared about. usually you're able to hold your own in certain situations but lately, before you can even process that someone was mean to you, johnnie has already come to your rescue.

for certain verbal arguments johnnie will stay out of it until the person starts to get aggressive and in your face. he won't hesitate to step in between you two or even curse them out himself. recently you haven't been able to get a word out because of how quick he is to jump to your defense.

you can't fully remember when this overprotective boyfriend' act started to come into play but as time went on, everyone around him, including you could see how his once platonic acts of friendship turned into much more. the way he'd constantly check on you to make sure you're okay after, or how he'd pull you away from the situation to a secluded area and just hold you while resting his head onto yours. everything was changing so quickly, you and johnnie have always been friends but recently you couldn't tell if what you were feeling towards him was just platonic anymore.

004. invites you out on "hangouts" that seem exclusively meant for couples.

you never questioned johnnie's motives when he invited you to hangout until one of your friends brought up the fact that johnnie never invited them to go on the special hangouts you two did.

the drive-in theaters where you'd share a blanket in the trunk of your car, the trips to barnes & nobles where you'll just sit in a corner trying to laugh quietly until you get kicked out, the late night walks to nearby parks where he'll just so conveniently have enough snacks for the both of you to share as you sit next to each other on the swings and stargaze, and you couldn't forget the times where you'll just hangout together in one another's house, baking, playing board games, and watching scary movies.

you wouldn't want to do those things with anyone else, and johnnie felt the same. he craved that feeling of tranquility where he could just shut out the rest of the world with you. you were his safe place, his comfort person.

005. he looks at you like you've hung the stars.

the stares don't go unnoticed by anyone. the way johnnie looks at you is fairly obvious to any person that what he feels for you is beyond what friends feel for each other.

once he settles his eyes on you it’ll be hard for him to look anywhere else. you're one of the prettiest sights johnnie has ever seen, and he has no problem admitting that to you.

he'll stare until something breaks him out of his trance, but if no one stops him he'll stare for hours. it's not meant to make you uncomfortable, he just really enjoys looking at you. it might creep you out sometimes when you can see him out of the corner of your eye just staring at you. if you ever cover your face in embarrassment johnnie would be quick to pull your arms from your face and remind you why he stares.

'i'm not trying to weird you out, you're just really pretty.''

when you two finally admit your feelings for one another and become a couple, not much changes. you act the exact same with just a bit more affection. this time around he won't hesitate to kiss you or pull you into a hug even if you're in front of cameras.

when the both of you gained enough courage to tell your friends, their reaction was a bit...unexpected. you and johnnie watched around the room at everyone's reaction. all of them had blank, slightly confused faces before jake broke the silence, mouthful of dessert..

'wait, i thought you guys were already dating.'
