the concept of being a grandparent is so insane cause like those are YOUR childrens children. Yeah that human you raised? Old enough to raise their own now. Yeah that human you helped through first day of school anxiety? It was their kids first day last week.

AND EVEN CRAZIER. Like. That kid one day might have grandchildren of their own. Will they know about you? Will they be told enough interesting stories to get an idea of who you were? I mean your grandchildren will only know YOUR grandparents through stories. What if you can't think of any?? What then?? Cause I know one story total about my grandfather's grandmother and it's that she tried to run away to America as a teenager and then was forced into an arranged marrige. How different would her life have been? THATS RIGHT. SHE WOULD'VE HAD A DIFFERENT GRANDSON!!! WHO WOULDN'T HAVE HAD ME AS HIS GRANDSON!!! I have never taken a minute to think about how bonkers it is that I am somebody's grandchild. And even crazier, one day I might have grandchildren. How do I know their parents (my children) are going to tell them about my kickass great great grandmother and her attempts to become a california girlie????
