According to a quick and sloppy look at Wikipedia (sorry for the lack of research, I just wanna be quick here due to havin' to do homework things) the term "feminism" has been around as far back as the 17th century. 

Honestly, I, too, find it sad that when someone says they are for "feminism" (be it a female or male) they are considered an "angry b*tch" or a "naggy lesbian" something along the lines of that. I agree, feminism doesn't mean we want to rip men's balls off and throw them into a disposal. We just want to be treated as human beings.

Sadly, there are many other facets of misunderstanding when it comes to this subject. Such as if guys say they're feminists, they may be called "not real men" or "f*g" or what have you. And if you're a female feminist and are not all gung ho "YEAH, WOMEN POWAH, ALL MEN ARE PIGS" then you are a shame of a woman or a fake.

Here's MY PERSONAL OPINION about feminism though.

This means that genders are EQUAL. Neither "common" attributes of males or females should be considered wrong. It is okay for a girl to be sporty and not want to wear dresses. And it is ALSO okay for a girl to like the color pink, shopping, and wear make-up without being called "weak", "priss", etc. This is a common misconception for "feminism". It does not mean females have to  be guys but with vaginas. It means that gals can be WHATEVER THEY WANT (girly, tomboyish, anythin' in between) without being ridiculed.

Don’t kill me, I am just very curious about where the word “feminism” comes from - like, the history and stuff. Sometimes I wonder why is there even a very specific word for “treat and look at everyone equally”?
