The grass is soft when her foot hits it, really soft. It’s exactly how she remembers it feeling at her own home, when her and her brothers would run barefoot across the yard giggling as they tried hard to catch one another.

Derek Morgan couldn't help but feel just a little bit sorry as he glanced across the track field at two kids, both who looked so miserable and ready to disappear that it wasn't funny. He knew them both, rather one through the other, which was odd considering he wouldn't usually be caught dead with their type of crowd anywhere on or near school grounds.
