Very Evil For Ending It Like That, But I Love Doing The Same For My Own Stories. It Wouldnt Be A True
Very evil for ending it like that, but I love doing the same for my own stories. It wouldn’t be a true story of mine if I didn’t have a least one cliffhanger. 😂
Usually, her daughter comes hurtling towards her, crashing into her as though she hasn’t seen her in years and it makes her heart feel full every single time. But… maybe they went out for ice cream, maybe they popped to the store. There are a million innocent, fun reasons as to why the apartment is so quiet right then and why her daughter isn’t greeting her at the door as she would expect her to, and yet, her brain and her heart immediately jumps to the dark place. It always does.

For the bad things happen bingo could you do “going into shock” with Buck? No pressure though! <3
Buck didn’t understand why his team is looking at him like that, like if he took another step he would come crashing down like the very building they just barely escaped from.
“Buck?” Bobby is the first to say his name, but Eddie is the one who actually moves to catch him, being the closest, as his legs buckle. His boyfriend gently lays him on the ground and moves just a little so Hen and Chimney can address the situation nobody was expecting. Chimney peels back the black jacket and exposes a giant piece of metal sticking out from the blonde’s lower right abdominal.
“What the hell Buck, why didn’t you say anything?” Buck can see the worry all over Eddie’s face and the tears slowly gathering and stinging his eyes, and he feels bad for making anyone worry about him in the first place.
The truth is, he didn’t say anything because he hadn’t known anything was wrong until it was too late and he was falling and heading for a mouth full of concrete if Eddie didn’t catch him. Buck hadn’t felt anything off, nothing hurt when he walked out of that building, but it’s as if now that someone made it known the pain is coming full force—but Buck doesn’t regret for a moment how he knows he ended up with a piece of metal impaled in his side.
The team was called to a house fire, one so awful that the flames had practically devoured the house by the time the 118 rolled up. The only one who actually made it out was the mom, who explained to them her husband went back inside for their daughter but neither came out in the time since she called 911. The team geared up and headed inside calling out for the family. The dad was found right away downstairs passed out, Eddie carrying the man out to safety.
Chimney and Buck headed upstairs and found the little girl in the first room they checked, hidden under the bed with a face full of soot and scared to death. Buck put on a friendly smile and managed to quickly coax her out and passed her off to Chimney who picked her up and started back downstairs. Buck was only a step behind, but before he could make it out of the room he found his next step was him falling through the floor and landing back in the living room.
That hurt, he knew that. Dark spots danced around his vision and he didn’t dare move until Eddie and Bobby were lifting him off the floor and walking him back outside. The pain that followed the fall went away though and he felt fine for at least a good two minutes after. Buck went to make sure the little girl was okay, and luckily she was for the most part. Then everything just fell apart.
“I f-felt fine.” He’s trying to get his point across to his worried boyfriend more than anyone gathered around him, because he is sure as worried as Eddie is he’s probably also a little angry he hadn’t said anything to anyone as soon as they were out of the burning home.
“The adrenaline was keeping him going before,” Chimney says, trying to stop the significant amount of bleeding that no piece of metal that small should be capable of creating. “He’s going into shock now.”
It makes sense, Buck thinks. The way he feels now is exactly how he felt when that fire truck had crushed his leg and they pulled him out, only he’s pretty sure the pain then was more excruciating than now; but, it’s kind of hard to measure the pain when both injuries fall on a pretty high end of the scale.
Either way, Buck can feel his body shaking even though he had been sweating just 5 minutes ago from the hot flames, and he suddenly feels so cold as his team lifts him up onto the stretcher and rolls him towards the ambulance. He can feel Eddie gripping his hand the entire way, but even that small amount of warmth is barely registered over the cold that is covering him from head to toe.
And he feels so tired. It hits him abruptly when Hen and Chimney finally load him in the ambulance and the stretcher comes to a stop. His eyes feel way too heavy to keep open anymore and Buck tries his best to fight the feeling off because he doesn’t want to sleep. He knows that there’s a chance if he closes his eyes he may never open them again and he isn’t ready to die. Not when he has everything he’s ever wanted. The perfect job, an amazing sister, and finally a loving boyfriend, with Eddie, which he never thought possible. Buck isn’t ready to leave all these amazing people behind.
But it’s almost like his eyes have a mind of their own, because despite Buck repeating over and over again in his brain to stay awake, his eyes aren’t listening to a single word and continue to droop, until his eyes no longer open. Not even the faint pleading from Eddie and Chimney are enough for Buck to stay conscious.
He may not be ready for the darkness, but the darkness is ready for him.
Okay, hope you liked it! I also hope you don’t mind that it turned into a slight Buddie thing, as you only mentioned for it to be Buck.
I would like to address though that if any huge Buddie shippers read this, I’m glad if you enjoy it, but I don’t actually write for Buddie. It just so happened that the prompt I was writing for Buck turned into this. I wouldn’t really know how to write a full serious Buddie story as my favorite ship is Madney and that is what I focus on, besides the Buckley sibling relationship which I will always gladly write for. @badthingshappenbingo

@maddieandchimney Thanks for another tag!
And omg that Wattpad phase, I’m cringinggggg just thinking about it. That phase happened when I first started getting into fanfic back in 7th or 8th grade. I started first on fanfic.net, but my best friend at the time was like look at this app. Let’s just say I’m so glad my name on Wattpad isn’t the same name I use today. The stories I published on there...😬😳. But I mean, I guess it doesn’t really matter when some fanfictions on Fanfic.net are about to hit 6 years old lol. Read them at your own risk. 😭😂☠️
