I actually like that Araki is doing more realistic stories blended with his supernatural universe. He's taking a leap (by Japan's standards) for telling a raw account of growing up trans, and I respect it.
As for trigger warnings, chapter 1 kinda served as that. Dragona was briefly SA'd by a police officer which set the scope of what we could see in this seinen manga. If you didn't like chapter 1, then don't read the rest of The Jojolands.
Some people have criticized that Dragona does not have enough agency in the story, relying on Jodio in both situations. Yeah, I get that, but if you've ever been in a situation like theirs, you HAVE to rely on your allies, friends, and loved ones. I think Dragona will get an arc that demonstrates their strengths and resilience. Araki can write a great side character arc (i.e. Gyro Zeppeli).
// spoilers for jojolands, mention of sexual assault
i must admit that seeing everyone hating on araki after newest chapter is so upsetting, because while i understand that some people may find themes of sexual assault so triggering that they decide to drop the series i think it's unfair to hate on araki for depicting a very real problem that happens to MANY trans people worldwide and as trans person who was assaulted in past i felt so represented by dragona and i was so glad that some manga has main character that i can relate to in that matter and isn't treated as a joke and i was so disappointed that everyone seems to think this scene shouldn't exist at all
