Just a silly dumb head cannon I wanted to draw out. Once ROTTMNT mentioned the word "Youkai" my brain decided to make all these silly connections between these two series.

Maybe in fanfic land the turtle tots looked up to the legend of Inuyasha as a half human who got to have human friends and be the hero. Plus, turtle tots! Always here for baby tmnt playing with cardboard!

Tale of Spirits Sneak Peek and reminders

Below is a final sneak peek for chapter 20, which should be up Sunday!

Just a reminder to anyone who missed it. After Chapter 20 is posted the next update will be a mass upload of the entire work, so there will be another hiatus after this post (a small one though, a little over a month)

Anyway, here's the sneak peek! Something fun and small.

Katara POV

Donnie chuckles before leaning back with a loud shout.  “Raph!  Leo!  Someone get in here to laugh at my amazing joke.”

“I can’t believe I was scared of you,” Sokka sighs.

“Hey, I’m still scary,” Donatello says.  His shell opens to release two thin metal appendages.  They wiggle back and forth in an odd sharp motion while his own arms squirm in the air.  She snorts, he looks like a jellysquid.  “Oooh, look at that.  Four arms, bet I’m pretty scary now.”

Sokka hides the pull of his face in his hands and Katara looks away with a laugh.  “Sure,” she grins.  “Super scary.”

I truly hate to be this person: when will a tale of spirits update again?

i love your writing so so much, I read everything up to bread crumbs all at once sometime on July and it sPARKED THE SEROTONIN OH MY GOODNESS ALL MY BABIES ARE MAKING FRIENDS and I have been checking literally every week since if it’s updated.

Good writing takes time but is there like a date you’re aiming for to release the next chapter? Soon? Mayhaps? An earlier post said chaps 20 and 21 were in the works and my hopes were high.

of course of course of course run on your own time and take as long as you need until your happy w it. But a vague goal for release or confirmation of hiatus would be so appreciated bc I just re read the most recent chapter and I am TREMBLING with anticipation srsly thank you so much for bringing this fic into the world I love it so much

sorry for the long ask!! Basically any form of an update would be stupendous

So, A Tale of Spirits timeline update! Chapter 20's probably going to be released within the next sevenish days (Yay!) After that, there will be another hiatus (not too long, maybe a month and some change) and then the next update will be the whole thing. And when I say the whole thing, I mean the WHOLE thing. Like, switching the status from in progress to complete lol

It's going to be one massive update, and I'm being honest this time lol. That's what's been slowing me down outside of regular life. The overall rearranging, rewriting, and scrapping of certain aspects of the Fic.

Anyway, when chapter 20 drops that '20/?' will show the total amount of chapters for the story so you guys know what to expect.

And again, just to reiterate, the update after Chapter 20 will be the ENTIRE thing. I'll even make an 'update eminent' post the day/night before the uploading begins.

A Take of Spirits sneak-peak? 🥺👉👈

Just a note: we will be seeing all the turtles with their respective humans this chapter (yes, that includes Donnie lol)! Sharing this snippet mainly because of the clothes description. It's one of the main things I keep fiddling with.

Sneak Peek (Katara)

“Remember,” Raph hisses.  He tugs at the almost traditional collar around his neck, and the wide sleeves pool to his elbows. The robe is a green two shades later than the near-black of his pants, but the material is breathable. It drapes loosely around his legs before tightening at the ankles. He’s left his feet bare, they both have. 'In case of emergencies' the spirit said. They move easier without them, but Katara fails to see the difference. Raphs clothes lack the silks and sheerness of what they provided Leo, but it cuts a sharp Earth Kingdom image.  “Think stuck-up, think mean, think Draxum!  We’re not leaving this party until we speak to the King.”

“Raph,” Leo sighs.  He moves unhindered in the clothes provided by Joo Dee, almost as if they were made for him.  They probably both were, Katara thinks.  The robe is a brighter green than Raphs, with the same deep green pants hugging his ankles, but the sleeves are made of a softer material.  The sheer silk hangs like a shrowd of pale, translucent green past the whole of his hands.  She thought it was too much green before, but now, in the dark of night, it works.  He looks ethereal with his bare feet and floating fabric.  They both do.   “I got this.  You just worry about being intimidating.  I’ll do all the talking.”

“He can do some of the talking,” Toph frowns.  “People find him a lot scarier than you anyway.”

“Only in looks, height, muscle, and girth,” Leo counts.  He spins and the silk twirls behind him like an afterthought.  “But Raph can’t act to save his life.  He’s marginally better than Donnie, and painfully below Mikey.  I fall in that nice middle ground of believable.”

“Hey!”

I love this fic…

“I could almost imagine what it looked like from his perspective. Each of those pretty iridescent appendages completely eclipsing the sun. I’d seen that view a few times. During those rare moments when I was laying in Macaque’s lap, admiring the view and wishing I could do that everyday.”

Leo is having a time :D

Gali and Big Mama never thought to tell Leo he wasnt actually a yokai because it never got brought up! The few times he's mentioned being a yokai around Gali she makes a weird "i dont know what to say to that" kinda face, but Leo doesn't really link the two things together.

Draxum never told Leo because Leo never asked and its not really something that comes up in casual conversation. Plus, he wasn't around all that often

What would an interaction between Feral Leo and Usagi?

So since the Feral Leo AU is canon compliant up to the end of the movie Leo doesn’t know Usagi yet, but what a great opportunity for a weird meet-cute.

Leo’s eyes constantly shift, even after he’s recovered. Most of the time when they’re out they stay alert, but when he’s happy it’s easy to tell. It makes lying a litter harder for him than it used to be. He can’t get anything past his family like he used to.

They are both intensely relieved but they don't understand why.

I just wondered how the present disaster twins would handle the recent emotional ordeal of the last update.

I just wanted to draw Bishop. I hate him (affectionate).

He deserves to dissect something after what 2012 did to his character.
