(I ask this because I have this image of a young Dragon Gin meeting him once when she strayed a little too far from her tribes’ nest and saw him and he saw her and it was just a stare down cause hey, Aurora Dragon child be looking at an either young child fae or an adult fae/dragon servant thingy, idk-)

So, he is around 150 years old, but for his kind that's the equivalent of being in his 20's. (He was about 90 when he was turned into the monster he is now.)

I can imagine that he was in the north doing some sort of job for the dark lord when he stumbled upon a small child. Of course, he didn't care much, as he had more pressing matters to deal with. So he left her be. (He would have already been merged with a dragon by that time)
