Poem: Sometimes
Poem: Sometimes
Sometimes I spiral down to
Gloomy thoughts of you and I,
And I want to go back to the
Simpler days when my mind
Wouldn’t drift back to you –
Not even only sometimes.

Poem: Back
I’ve wandered ways away from here
But one day tumbled back.
It’s strange to be with you so near
After letting go of our past.

Poem: Love Letters
Love letters have a sort of magic
about them. Each one is an attempt
by the mind to simplify a sentiment
so consuming. They’re almost as
bold as language itself for assigning
a single word to summarize such a
filling feeling. How can I reveal to you
my heart with one letter and describe
all of how I feel with the word love
alone? It would hardly be enough.
I could fill a library with love letters
and still have more to say to you,
and still have more love left over,
and still love you just as much.

Poem: Earth
Your silly grin reminds me
Of the easy beauty of this world:
The sun with its unapologetic glow
As it shares its warmth with people
As it watches them live and grow;
The stars with their quiet sparkle
Despite being surrounded by darkness
Because they know that every glimmer
Inspires those who watch from below;
Flowers like those that we watched
Grow together from a packet of seeds,
Which take some sprinkles of water
And sunshine and bloom at having
All that they need. I look at you
And remember what I love about
This world; I look at you and feel
So connected to the Earth.

Poem: Storm
I shivered at the sound
Of the storm outside
As it shouted and shook
And turned out the lights
Of the world all around
By concealing the sun
Behind heavy gray clouds,
With their heavy gray tears
Draining down one by one.
