a/n: hi hi ! been wanting to write this for a while and finally found some inspo ! hope u all enjoy :3 very loosely based off this song

you weren’t sure how the two of you ended up covered in flour. the floor dusted in the powder and the cookie dough in front of the two of you was more liquid than dough.

“you would think with the mess you made you would’ve added enough flour” satoru states, dipping his pinky in the batter and sticking it in his mouth.

“the mess i made? you’re the one who somehow managed to whisk the flour out of the bowl!” you laughed, shoving him as he grinned, making a small humming sound as he removed his pinky from his mouth, dipping it once more in the batter.

“you didn’t tell me you were gonna start pouring” he defended, watching as you followed his pinky to his lips for a third time.

“i thought me saying ‘ready’ was telling enough” you retorted, smacking his hand as he dipped his finger for a fourth time in the batter, “you’re gonna get salmonella you idiot” scolding him as he rolled his eyes.

“don’tcha wanna try it?” he’s holding his pinky out infront of you, smiling when your flour covered face gets flustered. “just a little taste won’t hurt” he smiles, giggling as you mumble something, leaning in only for him to put the batter on your nose.

“you little-” you squeal, getting some on your index before smearing it on his cheek, squealing when his arms snake around your waist, holding you in place easily and getting batter on both of your cheeks.

“not fair!” you protest, laughing as he loosens his grip, not bothering to move further away from you.

“how is that not fair?” he feigns innocence as you stare up at him with narrow eyes, faces only inches apart as he’s looking at you, waiting for your next move.

“you’re quite literally the strongest person on this planet” you reply, your hand dipping into the batter as he smiles down at you, leaning in a bit.

satoru can’t help but get distracted by your pretty face, wondering how in the world he got so lucky to be with someone like you.

“that’s true” he smirks, the two of you quiet for a second before he’s leaning in, closing his eyes. only to be met with a mouthful of cookie ‘dough.’

“you deserved that!” you laugh loudly, already making a run for it and trying to figure out where to find refuge.

satoru is hot on your heels, a handful of flour ready to be thrown your way as he catches up in seconds, grabbing your wrist as you squeal, smiling at him brightly when the flour lands on top of your head.

“you have a little something right there” you smile, motioning to his face, splotches of flour and batter covering him.

“do i?” he hums, a teasing lilt to his voice when you go to swipe some batter from his lips.

“mhm” you hum, putting your batter covered thumb in your mouth, the sugary desert coating your tongue as you hum, “it turned out pretty good!” you smile, eyes bright as satoru smiles down at you.

“course it did! i helped make it” he’s cocky as his arms are around your waist again, pulling to close to him and closing the gap between the two of you, his lips crashing onto yours.

he’s smiling against your lips when he feels the flour going down his neck, not even bothering to ask how you got a handful of flour when you weren’t even near the bag.

he’s about to open his mouth when he stops himself, realizing he was about to tell you how much he likes you. but he doesn’t, it’s more than that. what he feels is beyond like.

what’s after like?

“I love you” you both say, nervousness lacing both of your voices and satoru’s blue eyes are wide as the words land on his ears, unsure if he’d actually heard your voice along with his.

both of you are smiling, breaking into a fit of giggles when you both speak up at the same time again.

“jinx” he chuckles, pressing a kiss to your cheek as you roll your eyes at him, still smiling widely.

“are you seriously gonna jinx me when i just confessed my love to you?” you tease and satoru giggles, brushing your hair out of your face.

“technically i did too” he shrugs his shoulders, his lips pressing into a straight line as you smack him, a smile breaking onto his face as you begin to laugh.

the two of you don’t say much for a while, finally remembering the uncooked cookie dough in the kitchen, doing whatever you could to make it more dough like before scooping it out and popping it in the oven.

you found yourselves sitting on the floor of the kitchen, cups of milk in hand and cookies in front of you as you both munched away.

“not bad” you say, reaching for another cookie as satoru nodded in agreement.

“i added a secret ingredient” satoru spoke, a small smile on his face as you looked at him, expecting a serious answer, “love.”

a grin broke onto both of your faces, laughter filling the vanilla scented apartment.

“must be why these are the best cookies I’ve ever had” you reply, satoru’s eyes sparkling at your words.

“must be” he replies, staring at you softly.

There were times where Satoru just doesn't know how to say the words I love you. He'll have this sort of unfocused, dreamy expression with a dopey grin that matches his gaze when he looks at you. But with you being his first serious relationship and him not having much experience to romance, he's uncertain when it's the right time or if it's too soon to say it because he doesn't want to scare you away. And so, every time he says something when he's feeling soft for you there's a whispered I love you at the end.

"You make me happy." I love you.

"'Course I'll be safe, angel." I love you.

"I'll see you tonight, my sweet girl." I love you.

Satoru's always been a slow burn person in your eyes, and you knew that he had a way of showing he loves you without saying the words. That eventually led you to confess to him one night when he's warming up your side of the bed and you climb in from under the covers to snuggle up against him. First a sweet kiss to the corner of his mouth before you ease into his embrace and trace patterns on his chest with a content sigh.

"I've been meaning to tell you something... And you don't need to say it back, but I want you to know that I love you."

His arms that are wrapped around you pulls you closer and holds you tighter as he capture your lips for a slow fervent kiss that leaves you feeling a little lightheaded. And suddenly it feels like the most perfect thing you could say in that moment despite your hesitation and pounding heart inside your chest. You’re struck with a blissful warmth knowing that you mean just as much to him as he does to you after all this time.

"I'm glad you feel the same way... You have no idea how hard it was for me not to say I love you every second when I'm with you."
