The View mocks Miss Colorado and her monologue, Joy Behar asked about "doctor stethoscope"
The View mocks Miss Colorado and her monologue, Joy Behar asked about "doctor stethoscope"

Ok Tumblr Nurses, I have to say this really made my nurse nerves cringe. Not sure if you saw the awesome monologue Miss Colorado did the other night about nursing, but it was beautiful. However, the ladies on ABC’s the View felt differently.

My response: That is not a doctor’s stethoscope, Joy. That is a stethoscope. Doctors, nurses, medical assistants, CNA’s, etc. all utilize one to properly assess their patients in various ways from taking manual blood pressures, to listening to heart, lung, and bowel sounds. Furthermore Michelle, her monologue was not just her reading her emails as you categorized it.. it was a beautiful touching story about a nurse connecting with her patient with Alzheimer’s. I really hope that if one of your family members is in an Alzheimer’s unit that they receive all of the care, compassion, and concern that Miss Colorado provided her patient named Joe. It was not hilarious, as you described it. I’m not sure how someone in good conscious can really go on national television and mock that experience and somehow think it’s funny. Am I missing something? Why was that hilarious, specifically? Was it his devastating diagnosis? His loneliness? Her compassion? Her time she spent with him and the impact that they had on one another? That was completely inappropriate and I really hope that the national nursing organizations have something to say about that to you and your show and that profound display of disrespect to both patients and nurses. ABC’s The View owes the nurses and patients of this country a sincere apology. That was embarrassing and shameful.

If this frustrated you as much as myself, please REBLOG and comment on this. I want this to get attention. I want an apology for both Miss Colorado and the nurses of America because we were all just disrespected.

My life right now. I convinced my dad to help me pay some textbooks and that's a great help but they are so much and so expensive 😭😱

Classes are a bit overwhelming right now. I wish I could talk more, but I am too busy crying over the costs of my textbooks.
