Hussie: Actually, there is a bit more. Time for another hiatus.

The thing is, Homestuck is both a story and a puzzle, by design and by definition. If asked to define it, “a story that’s also a puzzle” is as close to true as any answer I’d give. Should all entertainment be like that? No way. But something should be like that, because something like that should exist. That’s why puzzles exist, because puzzles are cool sometimes, and are challenging. We don’t go up to a jigsaw puzzle and go, “why the fuck is this in so many different PIECES, what kind of IDIOT would break this nice picture into TINY LITTLE BITS?!!” Nor do we want all of our nice pictures broken into bits like that. Some we just want to hang on walls and look at. But unlike a jigsaw puzzle, there’s much to enjoy without having to solve it. Fun characters and silly moments. But if you turn your brain on, you can engage with the complexity and depth. If you turn it ALL the way on, you can get everything, and solve the puzzle. There is a range of ways to interface with it, from the casual to the maniacal. Failing to grasp everything shouldn’t preclude basic enjoyment, nor is it a symptom of failure by either the reader or the story.

honestly, I hate that this fandom is giving hussie shit even now

especially when a fuckton of this fandom claims to have healed through the community, and he’s hinted heavily as struggling with anxiety/depression while dealing with this webcomic, the legal shit that was rumored about hiveswap, moving part of the way through, managing merchandising and multiple other artists and their royalties, etc 

like if you’re gonna be supportive of anyone in this goddamn fandom, be supportive of the prick who’s dealt with all of your constant bickering and over-the-top obsessions for seven years 

homestuck was never supposed to be this big. he knew where it was supposed to go. it just spiraled until it ended. he’s living the dream you all hope for except imagine yourselves bickering at yourselves because you’d hate yourselves after a while, trust me. 

I’m really glad hussie stuck it through and unless he truly does something visibly shitty after this point, I’m going to remain supportive of him

Some things to remember

In honor of Homestuck ending tomorrow (4/13/16) after a great 7 year run, I’ve decided to make a list of pages/events/ other various instances that all made a huge impact on the Homestuck fandom. Remember these good times guys, we’ve had a fun ride.

Basically all of the Trolls dying and murdering each other

This is self explanatory and should be easy to remember, as odd are that your favorite troll perished at least at one point in Act 5. Jack Noir killed Aradia, Vriska killed Tavros, Eridan killed Fefari, Gamzee took out Equius and Nepeta, Kanaya cut Eridan in half, and Terezi kills Vriska, you know how went. This was a pivotal moment in the Homestuck fandom. With four of these characters permanently dead, this was when we all realized that no character was really safe.

[S] Cascade crashed Newgrounds

If you were around during the release of Cascade, you remember the rush to get onto Newgrounds, which is where Hussie hosted the flash end of Act 5, because he didn’t think MSPA could support the traffic. He was right of course, but apparently neither could Newgrounds. As soon as Hussie heard of this, he commented “Well, that didn’t work.”.

Openbound after the first big hiatus

After a hiatus lasting from July 1st 2012 to August 30st 2012, Hussie updated Homestuck with Openbound, which was an interactive flash where you could control Meenah and meet the other Dancestors. Surprisingly, instead of MSPA crashing after all the traffic started entering the site, the flash just wouldn’t load past 100% until the traffic on the site cooled down.
