I can’t believe I haven’t seen anyone point out this callback yet

the best part of act 7 is if anyone asks about how homestuck ended you can just tell them “they finally made it out of the home” and you’d literally be telling the truth

In my personal opinion the characters are ALREADY resolved. [S] Collide anyone?

Sure there are no dialogue, but I think visually you can see how they've developed pass their major flaws and fully embrace their aspects? What more would people want???

Buuuut that's just my opinion, not at all disapproving you ;)

I do hope Hussie nails the epilogue, but I don't at all think he needs to be pressured too much. I mean 7 years of such an extensive webcomic PLUS hiveswap??? Yeah he definitely needs a rest XD

i think the best way i can summarize why the ending of homestuck was disappointing is

it wasnt about the characters

sure, there was plot stuff that didnt get wrapped up, but it was mostly inconsequential, and even though i think it SHOULD have been wrapped up its still not that hard to infer plenty of unseen developments based on the information we have

but the ending was ONLY plot. calliope destroys the furthest ring and possibly paradox space… ok. lord english is defeated… ok. they create the universe… ok, great! all these developments make sense from a narrative standpoint

but we didnt get resolutions to any character arcs. we dont get to read the dialogue when the characters reunite, we dont get to see them talk out their problems, we dont get to find out their reaction to the amazing thing theyve just done. and the thing is it doesnt even seem like it would be hard. considering how much text can accompany a single page of homestuck, i feel like most of this can be wrapped up in like. a few pages. give me walls upon walls of text, i dont care, i’ll read it all. i dont care if the art is shitty. i dont care if theres NO art. give me the character resolutions ive been waiting for for 7 years

i really trusted hussie as a writer and to an extent i still do because theres pretty much no way to create something like homestuck WITHOUT being a good writer but i guess he just doesnt know how to write endings? who knows. but the pressure is definitely on for him to write an epilogue that blows us all away

Some things to remember

In honor of Homestuck ending tomorrow (4/13/16) after a great 7 year run, I’ve decided to make a list of pages/events/ other various instances that all made a huge impact on the Homestuck fandom. Remember these good times guys, we’ve had a fun ride.

Basically all of the Trolls dying and murdering each other

This is self explanatory and should be easy to remember, as odd are that your favorite troll perished at least at one point in Act 5. Jack Noir killed Aradia, Vriska killed Tavros, Eridan killed Fefari, Gamzee took out Equius and Nepeta, Kanaya cut Eridan in half, and Terezi kills Vriska, you know how went. This was a pivotal moment in the Homestuck fandom. With four of these characters permanently dead, this was when we all realized that no character was really safe.

[S] Cascade crashed Newgrounds

If you were around during the release of Cascade, you remember the rush to get onto Newgrounds, which is where Hussie hosted the flash end of Act 5, because he didn’t think MSPA could support the traffic. He was right of course, but apparently neither could Newgrounds. As soon as Hussie heard of this, he commented “Well, that didn’t work.”.

Openbound after the first big hiatus

After a hiatus lasting from July 1st 2012 to August 30st 2012, Hussie updated Homestuck with Openbound, which was an interactive flash where you could control Meenah and meet the other Dancestors. Surprisingly, instead of MSPA crashing after all the traffic started entering the site, the flash just wouldn’t load past 100% until the traffic on the site cooled down.
