“Seeking God — really seeking — is more than just reading a few verses from the Bible in the morning and trying to be a good person that day. Seeking requires me to sacrifice the things I feel compelled to chase so I can be available to notice God’s clear direction. Whatever we chase, like it or not, gains our full attention. Jeremiah 29:13, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (NIV)”

Let God speak into your life.
God can pull you out of your own insecurities and into the bold confidence that is available to you.
I was feeling insecure recently, questioning if people were judging me and whether I was good enough in this situation. This happens a lot to me, questioning my worth in a situation.
But what I’ve found is that when we bring these insecurities to God, He will tell us the truth. And the truth is that you please Him when you simply offer your life as a sacrifice (Romans 12:1). The truth is that you are His beloved child (1 John 3:1).
I brought this situation that was bringing up insecurity to God and in the midst of the silence, in the midst of the space I gave for Him to speak into my life, in the midst of asking for His perception of the situation, He told me that all that matters is whether I honor Him. It’s not about whether my actions are acceptable to other people - it’s about whether they will see God in it. It’s about whether I’m stewarding the presence of God well.
Meditating on God’s Word and allowing Him to speak has been changing my relationship with God so much. When you go to a doctor and tell them all your symptoms and your issues, do you just leave right after? No, you sit there and wait for them to tell you what they think and how you can heal. Then why do we pray these long prayers (which are pleasing to God) but then get up right away and end our conversation with Him? He is just waiting for us to be still so we can listen to what He has to say.
And when I’ve brought a situation to Him and asked Him what He thought and simply breathed and stayed quiet, I’ve felt the whisper of His truth settle into my heart and reassure me that He is a present God who will tell us the truth about who we are. God is speaking. We just have to quiet our hearts, meditate on His Word, lay down our worries, and breathe in His presence and goodness and let it renew our hearts and minds.

“Novembers are for softest sleep when skies are dark and grey. They do not mind the time you keep when night looks much like day. They do not mind the rain that falls so warmly down your cheek. ‘Rest easy now’ is what they’d say if months knew how to speak.”
— Ellis Nightingale
“A good friend finds you in the dark and carries you back to the light.”

“Of course I’ll hurt you. Of course you’ll hurt me. Of course we will hurt each other. But this is the very condition of existence. To become spring, means accepting the risk of winter. To become presence, means accepting the risk of absence.”
