Oblivious hypocrisy?

This post is about supposed hypocrisy within Tsukasa. Theory.

To start off, let’s go over his general beliefs that have been shown throughout the manga since day one.

Oblivious Hypocrisy?

Tsukasa belives supernatural and humans should be whoever they want to be, they should be together if they desire to. And if that’s enough to end the world, then it’s a done deal.

I find it interesting, out of everything that interesting about Tsukasa, that he thinks people should get whatever they desire. Within reason, authenticity, and if they’re willing to pay the price. With those things, it really doesn’t matter what your wish is, or who you hurt to get it. He’ll forgive everything.

Oblivious Hypocrisy?

No.1: He wants people to have whatever wish they want, whatever desire they have.

This really plays into his part on Sakura’s team as well, as her assistant. She’s selfish for wanting to wipe out everyone, every living/existing being just so she could go ā€˜outside’ and be free. But that’s what she wants, and she’s sure she’s truthful about it, that she’s truly happy.

So in Tsukasa’s eyes, that’s ok.

Oblivious Hypocrisy?

No.2 is: That he believes wishes and desires and wants are endless.

A human, a supernatural, existing beings don’t stop wanting. They’re always going to want something, we are always going to have desires and wishes.

He’s known this ever since he was 4 years old, when he got trapped in the Red House. In the Red House, we can see that Kou got put through many trials of his wants projecting at him. And they didn’t stop until they got to Nene and he refused all of them.

Oblivious Hypocrisy?
Oblivious Hypocrisy?

They are even things he didn’t even realized he wanted.

That’s because they’re coming from the heart, where the authenticity lies.

Oblivious Hypocrisy?

Tsukasa has seen person from person walk into the house wanting their wishes to come true. He knows how this works. A wish for a price, no matter how many wishes there are, they’ll have to be payed for.

But there is no end it, no boundaries to what they can wish and what they can’t. As long as it comes from the heart, maybe even portrays in front of them like with Kou.

So, two clear beliefs. People should have whatever they want, beings don’t stop wishing.

Now let’s see how those two things are shown by Tsukasa himself. Let’s see if he fits his own expectations.

Oblivious Hypocrisy?
Oblivious Hypocrisy?
Oblivious Hypocrisy?

Tsukasa replies with a chapter long explanation on why and how his wish already got granted.

Kou asks Tsukasa what his wish is, why hasn’t his wishes been projected like his has. Tsukasa says he had no other wishes then what he’s already got granted, with the cost of sacrificing himself, and having to stay in the Red House.

He has no other wishes, supposedly. By his own words. He’s saying he’s never wanted anything more, he’s never even thought of anything more.

To Tsukasa, he really just hasn’t thought of anything more, what more could he possibly want.

Being in the Red House for so long, having to see people come to get a wish granted with their prices as well. He’s been busy peering into other people’s wants and desires. Almost noisily, as this has become his new interest, fixation. Wishes, wants, desires. Impulses, and inclinations too.

But he’s so busy with that, he can’t even think to peer into himself. Figure himself out.

Oblivious Hypocrisy?

You could think this was his only want, but then we see later that that’s incorrect.

Oblivious Hypocrisy?
Oblivious Hypocrisy?

Tsukasa says he knew how to get back home, he just didn’t go because he thought it was for the best. He mentions ā€˜holding back’, which just brings me back to the whole concept of that in TBHK, and Tsukasa’s obvious interest in it.

So I find it wondrous how he’s saying he himself stopped holding back at some point.

Stopped holding himself back from being with the people he loves most, with Amane and his parents. Now just acknowledging that he’s had the desire to go back. And he even invites the Red House Darkness ( Is that what we’re calling it? ) to come with him.

Though, despite him letting go of his swear of not wanting more, this isn’t reaching his expectations at all. This was, for all we now, one occurrence.

Supernaturals and humans should be however they want to be? Has he ever abstained that from himself?

He’s always wanting people like Mitsuba, Shijima, Sakura, Amane to embrace their aspirations, no matter how selfish or fantastical they may be. He’s always pestering about wishes, this and that, to whoever.

But, he’s never once thought about himself, has he? Just once? It seems so, cause currently ( In the chapter 110 ), here he goes again. Trying to make two wishes come true, Sakura and Amane’s both. At the same time.

And something I’ve also noticed about him is that, he may be truthful, but there are times where he isn’t willing to share. I can point out occasions, but I think this is implying more.

Oblivious Hypocrisy?

He can shy away from things, questions, topics. Involving his own feelings? Like his feelings about thunder?

He can get quiet, wide eyed, looking everywhere else?

Well, that’s ironic, giving he always wants to know the feelings of others.

Amane, grabbing his face, trying to see his expression, because I think to Tsukasa that’s a way to read people. Just through the face they’re making? Hmm..

Oblivious Hypocrisy?
Oblivious Hypocrisy?

With Sakura too, like shown in the other imagine above.

Mitsuba as well.

Oblivious Hypocrisy?

But.. Then he hides his face when it comes to some situations? I wonder.

That exes all of his beliefs/expectations out.

He doesn’t even make it close to meeting them.

Tsukasa’s all too selfless, and with his overbearing appeal to wishes, wants, desires, selfishness, aspirations, etc etc. It clouds his brain from focusing on nothing more than other’s.

And I’m always so confused when people call him selfish. They may be thinking of his twin. Their almost complete opposites, after all.

I feel like this shows a sort of oblivious hypocritical behavior. His behavior contrasts his beliefs and feelings.

I don’t think anyone would have took him for the hypocrite. Even though I don’t think he himself even has a clue.

Since you mentioned that Tsukasa is your second favorite and I just saw one of the asks, what's your favorite scene from Tsukasa? (or phrase, whatever) :)

Ooooo I like this question lmao I don't talk about Tsukasa a lot (even tho he's my second fav character and he even was my fav for the beginning) so I don't get asked about him a lot

The first one that came to mind was DEFINITELY this one.

Since You Mentioned That Tsukasa Is Your Second Favorite And I Just Saw One Of The Asks, What's Your

I absolutely LOVE this scene and everything Tsukasa is implying in his words- it's so beautifully painful man and I ADORE it sm ^^

The way Hanakou is portrayed in the fandom will never not be funny to me

Yeah, Hanako canonically flirts a lot with Nene, but that's because she's a GIRL - he wouldn't flirt relentlessly with Kou too

Y'all only focus on the fact Hanako's 13 and forget he was born in 1955, not in 2002. He 100% has a shit ton of internalized homophobia and it'd be SO FUNNY to see Hanako just panicking and chanting "girls girls girls girls girls girls" and "boys don't like boys boys don't like boys" over and over because he realized his bro's kinda pretty

Since we saw that when he doesn't know how to react when he's flustered and acts like a little asshole, mocking something he knows the one he's into is insecure about but he finds attractive, he'd probably comment on how Kou is like a housewife, even tho he surely loves Kou's cooking (I have this little ship headcanon where Kou makes Hanako donuts but brushes it off as "yea I made some for my sister and these are the leftovers,,,,," but Hanako knows they were made for him because he's not that stupid) and probably even admires how much effort he puts into taking care of his little sister and big brother

0 notes and I'll draw this (I'll draw it whether you like it or not)

Tsukasa works FOR Sakura

Now this is very likely me just being slow and not connecting the dots until now, but chapter 109 has made me realise that Tsukasa is not the one in charge of the "destroy all yorishiros" plan... It's Sakura.

Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura

It's this line here that's made me finally see the light, Tsukasa has to "help Sakura, by destroying the yorishiro." He is not actively desiring the yorishiro to be destroyed, he's just doing his part in the plan. In chapter 106, he wasn't even phased that Nene didn't want to destroy the yorishiro and the only reason he persisted was because it was "his job."

Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura

Even way back in chapter 93, Sumire describes Sakura as the one No. 6 serves. Sakura gave him the job of destroying his own yorishiro, not Tsukasa.

Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura
Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura

Sakura is the one who wants the yorishiros destroyed, she's been trapped inside the school for 100 years and is tired of it. She wants to leave whatever duty is keeping her bound

Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura
Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura

And she is more than willing to make sacrifices to make her wish come true

Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura

Sakura is behind everything, she is the reason that Tsukasa was freed from where he was trapped (very likely Hanako's boundary).

Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura

She is also the one altering the rumours.

Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura

Tsukasa, as cunning and intelligent as he may be, is probably a bit too impulsive to be the brains behind the entire operation. His intense curiosity for things would likely get in the way, no matter how well he means or how serious he's being.

Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura
Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura
Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura

And again, it's clear Tsukasa is not as invested in destroying the yorishiros as we are initially led to believe. Again, he really doesn't mind that Nene no longer wants to destroy yorishiros anymore

Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura

In fact, it's Natsuhiko who worries Nene won't destroy them. Keep in mind Natsuhiko is 100% loyal to Sakura and not necessarily to Tsukasa. If this was Tsukasa's plan, I doubt he would be worrying over whether Nene will keep doing her part as the kannagi

Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura

The only reason we even initially thought this was all Tsukasa's doing, was because Sakura painted a picture that she was in a similar situation to Nene.

Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura
Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura
Tsukasa Works FOR Sakura

Sakura gives the impression that she can't go against Tsukasa, that he is her master. But that can't be right, because we know Sakura was the one who appointed the 7 mysteries in the first place. And she was also the one who freed Tsukasa, so how could he be the "master" in this relationship?

I think, Sakura said all this to gain Nene's trust.

Nene, being the modern kannagi, is absolutely vital in the plan to destroy the yorishiros. So having her trust Sakura would help out immensely.

So overall, whether it's the price he's paying for having been freed-- or for some other reason entirely-- it's quite clear to me now that Tsukasa is not the one in charge of the "destroy the 7 mysteries" plan. He's absolutely a major key player, with his cunning and curious mind clearly being an advantage (figured out the fastest and easiest route to stopping time so he could access the clock-keeper's boundary with Nene). But he is doing all of this to help Sakura, it's not for himself.

tsukasa realizing that kou is more fun to "play" with than mitsuba ever was is gonna kill me i think

mitsuba never really had strong convictions nor connections to anyone so while he was easy to manipulate i doubt it was much fun for him. on the other hand, kou has such strong connections to everyone and everything and had such a strong impact on the world.

by messing with and manipulating kou, not only can he enjoy seeing this pure hearted kid struggle and suffer, achieving his favorite thing of seeing people break by his own hands, but manipulating kou will affect so many other important members of the timeline. the butterfly effect is strong with this one, methinks.

I know people have already talked about it before but I must say it again because I love it, But I still can't get over the fact that in the official french version of the manga, in this scene, Teru is basically saying "I like YOU more than what you think Akane." Like hello???

Awesome move from the part of translator and the editor imo. Forever thankful!

But also what is the truth behind it? What is the true translation!!! Translation error from the french part?

I love how attached to Nene and Kou Hanako is, no one else can make him so worried.

image

and so genuinely happy,

image

happiness from Hanako used to be so rare even Tsuchigamori, the School Mystery of knowladge, is intrigued by.

image
image

When we get insight of his mind, he always pictures Kou and Nene: They are always his focus.

image

He cares about them so much it makes me go insane

I think a lot of people in the fandom forgot Teru is actually 16-17, in his second years of high school and per so he is actually still a kid and very young.

A meme featuring panels of teacher Amane Yugi from chapter 115 of Toilet Bound Hanako Kun. Various labels read "No safety goggles," "Not even looking while measuring," "Loose sleeves," "Keeping food/drink in the lab," and "Drinking out of lab glassware." Parts of the images relevant to the text have been highlighted with red circles and arrows. The caption at the bottom reads "His ass is not practicing proper lab safety."

it is that true hanako remembers like his brother looking at the moon ? Why doesn't he try to save him ? He just make him suffer šŸ˜”?

Hanako tries to save him, but he does it the wrong way. He (apparently) trapped Tsukasa in the boundary so that he could find a way to try to save him without him giving up on himself.

Something similar to what he did with Nene in the PP arc, he wanted to trap her in the perfect world so that she wouldn't die.

It Is That True Hanako Remembers Like His Brother Looking At The Moon ? Why Doesn't He Try To Save Him
It Is That True Hanako Remembers Like His Brother Looking At The Moon ? Why Doesn't He Try To Save Him

It Is That True Hanako Remembers Like His Brother Looking At The Moon ? Why Doesn't He Try To Save Him
It Is That True Hanako Remembers Like His Brother Looking At The Moon ? Why Doesn't He Try To Save Him

So, the same thing with Tsukasa. He trapped him so that he wouldn't find a way to remove his own seal.

It Is That True Hanako Remembers Like His Brother Looking At The Moon ? Why Doesn't He Try To Save Him

You saw how he reacted when Tsukasa said that he would remove his own seal.

It Is That True Hanako Remembers Like His Brother Looking At The Moon ? Why Doesn't He Try To Save Him
It Is That True Hanako Remembers Like His Brother Looking At The Moon ? Why Doesn't He Try To Save Him

Tsukasa suffers because he wants to be free, because Amane doesn't show his feelings explicitly.

And Amane suffers because Tsukasa wants to move away, wants to go away and be far away from him.

The moon is a metaphor, it's something that Amane loves, but almost impossible to reach.

It Is That True Hanako Remembers Like His Brother Looking At The Moon ? Why Doesn't He Try To Save Him
It Is That True Hanako Remembers Like His Brother Looking At The Moon ? Why Doesn't He Try To Save Him

As if he tried everything to save Tsukasa, but it was almost impossible.

TBHK tik tok is the worst jee

Screenshots provided by @/ddiamondtea on twitter

TBHK Tik Tok Is The Worst Jee

This is bullshit

TBHK Tik Tok Is The Worst Jee

He gets praised BECAUSE he has saved other despite the lack of spiritual power he has. Then the skirt thing makes sense because for him being a 14 year old in a shounen manga and not being a pervert like hanako was portrayed at the start it gains him a lot of respect..

NO HE ISN'T WEAK?? Compared to his brother yes he is physically and spiritually less strong than Teru, but even so he helps how much he can even repressing his own problems for the benefits of others. if i was him i would've given up loong ag

The fact he saved Mitsuba IS praise worthy. He tried saving someone who was dead, which would've been exorcised by Teru already since he is the bent neck boy who will break your neck too, therefore harmful.

Kou DID try to save him and that IS worth liking him for. he has so many problems even before Mitsuba or Hanako, yet he still tries to understand their needs and does what he can to help them out.

Saving him in NOT the bare minimum as everyone ever just ran away from him, and Kou would've exprcised him if Mitsuba wasn't both a student and an non-harmful ghost.

Of course he is not the greenest flag, he's one of the characters with the most issues. He never thinks of the consequences and jumps in ending up in endangering himself. He is selfless and only thinks to help others without gaining anything from it.

TBHK Tik Tok Is The Worst Jee

???? HOW THE HELL IS THAT A RED FLAG??

how is kou having attempted suicide a red flag it just means he needs help not that he's the worst for having them it's like telling all of us people that struggle with it that we just need to get over it. Kou is such a compelling character and his development is not yet done, he doesn't have to be your favourite but appreciate his efforts to help everyone even while nothing goes his way

It's just so insensitive and horribly apathetic. Kou clearly struggles with suicidal thought because if that's the first thing he resorts to it means he has thought about it long before it happened.

Whatever it's useless to explain to them and their pebble brain.

TBHK Tik Tok Is The Worst Jee

Not even gonna say anything this is just dumb
