That story request actually reminded me of this story I wrote late at night a while back lol... I just think these two deserve to get married and snuggle with one another 🥺

The dim light of the full moon poured through the shades into a room, accompanied by the green light from a luminous orb which lay on the bedside table. A ring lay beside the Ahamkara rock, another ring propped atop it, their little jewels gleaming in the light.

  On the bed, the Drifter sighed, his forehead coated with a thin layer of sweat, his arms shaking. Eris Morn turned over to face him, burying her arm underneath the pillow on her side of the bed.

  "You had a nightmare?" She asked.

  "Yeah, yeah... I'm alright, though." he offered her an unconvincing smile.

  "Mm." Eris pulled the covers higher around them. "Do you need anything? Tea, perhaps?"

  "Nah, just give me a little, I'm sure I'll fall back to sleep." He forced a light chuckle. "I mean, look, we're already in bed 'n everything." He turned over on his side. "Don't want us to have to get up again."

  "Indeed..."

  "I'm fine, Eris." He insisted. "Well, actually..."

  "Yes?" Eris prompted.

  "I mean, this might help me actually," he delved his face face into hers, stealing a kiss before leaning away again with a wide smile.

  Eris felt her lips quirk into a small smile. She crept closer, invading into the Drifter's part of the bed and far into his personal space, gently putting her face against his. She pulled away a moment later, watching the Drifter's face perk into a smile. A moment later the Drifter was atop her, putting his lips to hers again and again. His knees against her hips as his arms sanks into the pillows behind their heads, his lips clinging to her own, desperately yearning for the comfort and love that she offered.

  Eris felt herself smiling from under him, happily allowing every kiss as she wrapped her arms around him. She could taste sweat on the Drifter's lips and around his mouth, which only made her want to kiss him more. Finally after yet another kiss the Drifter pulled away, relaxing his hold on Eris.

  "Rat," Eris panted out, smiling. "Get off of me."

  He smiled and rolled off of her, laying on his side. "Thank you, Moonlight." He spoke softly, his eyes reflecting the green glow of Eris's.

  Eris rolled over, away from the Drifter, anticipating his next move. A second later she felt arms circle around her torso and legs tangle with her own. Then she felt warm breath against her cheek as the Drifter brought his face over her shoulder.

  "Pull the blanket over us." Was all Eris said as she nestled her face into the pillow.

  The Drifter did as she said, pulling the blanket over their shoulders, before he got himself back into position, nuzzling his face into the side of her neck, relishing the way her hair tickled his face.

  The Drifter tightened his arms around her, kissing her neck once, then twice, before settling comfortably against her, slowly drifting off into a dreamless sleep.

Lol oh my goodness, I've been meaning to look into Ao3 but I've been kinda busy and forgot 😅 Definitely intend to look into it, and if I start posting my stories over there, I'll post the links here too! :))

Honestly, I've asked myself that a couple times too, and I think the reason is because not only are both characters already really cool and unique by themselves, but then their relationship is also slow building and fun to watch and observe too. I've been into other ships as well, but they all ended up fading pretty fast and I stopped really caring for them... For Eris and Drifter, I started thinking they might like each other in 2021, but actually started getting into/drawing the ship in 2022 and haven't stopped since 😂

Another thing I love is that their relationship doesn't feel sped up or forced, it feels natural, to me at least. I love the way they start off bickering and being mean to each other, and then as the seasons and years go by, with each new interaction they grow a little kinder to one another.

I also love how they both have so many differences, but then they also have some things in common. Like they've both had traumatic pasts, they are both dedicated to getting their work done (Eris even once referred to the Drifter as tenacious a long while back), and they are both kinda gross and messy XD

Drifter sidled through Eris's Athenaeum, poking at her occult doodads. Many of the unidentifiable objects were covered in one type of grime or another: wax, tallow, machine grease, or blood. He shook his head with affection, amazed that someone so sharp could be so sloppy.

And I love the way they treat each other too... The Drifter respects Eris, and he doesn't treat her like she's crazy. Eris understands the Drifter's pain, and so she is occasionally very gentle with him, especially recently 🥺

But even here in season of the Haunted she is being very open, sweet, and gentle with him...

I love the dynamic and growth between them over the years, and then the fact that they are really awesome and unique characters too... plus, what can I say? They also look really cute together :3
