Random Eddie Munson HCs
Random Eddie Munson HCs
Hey! Haven’t written anything is such a long time and honestly really miss it! It makes me feel better and helps with the maladaptive daydreaming.
So have fun looking into my brain of how I see eddie - he’s a menace 100% (spoiler free :) ) 18+ only!

calls his SO so many different pet names
some are super cute and heart melty
and some are like 👀 ’wait what did you just call me’?
when others call him “freak” and other shit you get so fired up
he tries to calm you down
“it’s okay bruiser let’s go home”
“come on, no bloodshed today slugger”
definitely likes to lightly bite and lick his SO
that can be their fingers, nose, chin, cheek, ankle - literally any body part
he likes your little giggles when he does it
or when you look at him like ‘really munson?’
asking to bite his dimples in return
really wanting to lick/kiss his eyes but can’t
he makes cannibal jokes after
nibbles a little bit on his hair when it’s wet
hair beard!
if you are confused he likes to grab his hair and pull over his chin like a beard
even does some voices
sometimes he’ll hold his hand (or some other tool like a spatula, hairbrush, etc) like its a microphone while he is singing a song.
then he’ll move his hand so it’s in front of your mouth silently telling you it’s your turn
sometimes you know the words and sometimes not, either way he’s giving you that bright smile and bopping his head like you are giving the performance of a lifetime.
“yeah go baby go!” as you go monotone, repeating the lyrics back to him.
gets the zoomies like a doggo
will jump off his seat like a rocket when he’s happy or excited
sometimes needs to do a little lap and then will come sit back down
okay 18+
but he definitely likes to sniff your panties
OKAY yeah I know don’t @ me!
but he does okay! take it up with eddie!
he likes when you laugh or shout at him to stop or when you even get a little bit more turned on bc of it
you can’t really blame him when you are giving him all that positive reinforcement!
you guys will watch saturday morning cartoons together
sitting cross-legged with cereal in your laps
sometimes wayne would have just came back from a shift and sleeping so you guys know to keep it down
i’ve seen other people talk about how he doesn’t eat a lot of fruit/veggies
and I totally agree
the little shit will mispronounce words on purpose
sometimes his poker face is so good you can’t tell if he’s joking or not
“what is a man-go?”
loves messing with you
one year he licked a banana slug and his whole mouth and tongue went numb for like an hour.
he was ‘oh shit i’m gonna be numb forever!’
trying to decide how long he should wait it out until getting help/telling someone
it went away so all was good
okay i’m projecting that one happened to me at camp one year
i don’t remember how old i was - maybe middle school age - I got dared okay!
speaking of eddie & dares
at the beginning of the relationship you felt like you had to be the sane one and tell him not to do shit
“no eddie don’t let your buddy tase you!”
“get off the ground you are not licking that!”
didn’t take long to learn that he is just fucking with you - he likes you telling him no
he finds it funny and it makes him feel like you care
so it turns from “don’t eddie or I swear to god” into “yeah babe do it”
and he just looks at you, eyes widening telling you he’s gonna
and you just stare back like ‘do it - i wanna see’
just staring each other down
turns into a game of chicken
he usually backs down
but honestly depending on the audience
you are a polaroid couple 100%
he has a sweet little picture of you in his wallet 🥺
and one of you looking like an absolute demon
it’s all about balance you see

“You have one shot, one chance to take him down how do you proceed princess?”
“I creep into his layer raise my poisoned blade and drag it all the way down his fat gut.”
Eddie grinned gesturing for me to roll and take my shot at his latest campaign’s biggest villain. I look around at my team earning a semi confident nod from Gareth and Jeff and thumbs up from the younger boys. Taking a deep breath I lift the die shaking it in my palm. After two months it all lead up to this very moment. Most of my team was already down already slaughtered.
Gareth and I were the last two standing left to face the vile Orcus all by ourselves. He was one of our largest foes yet tearing through our party ten times worse than the demogorgon had in the last campaign. His bloated body towered over us with ram like horns and large wings. Although his character miniature was so small he was the biggest threat we had yet to take on. Eddie the Brave our dungeon master never did like to take it easy on us.
Fighting the urge the squeeze my eyes shut I drop the die to the table watching it bounce once, twice, even thrice. With each bounce it seemed to move in slow motion taunting us. Everyone leaned over the table watching the little numbers move breath hitched, fingers crossed feet tapping. Finally the red splattered white die lands solidly on the table. The number four stares back at us and I could almost hear Orcus’s laugh echoing in my head.
The group howls and cries fists hitting tables chairs flying back. My jaw drops open in defeat, (dnd character name) was done for. Yet another one of my characters lost to Eddie Munson’s relentless campaigns. We had lost, beaten by the evil Lord of the Undead. Eddie leaned forward his most mischievous grin painted on his lips.
“Just before your blade can touch his stomach Orcus’s eyes shoot open his hand flying out to grab your wrist. You struggle but your weapon clatters to the ground. Orcus rises towering over your shaking form. The blood lord reaches behind him pulling out the Wand of Orcus. ‘I will be the last creature when I am done. The cosmos will then be perfect, free of the braying abominations that are all other living things.’ He gloats before pressing the wand to your throat.” Eddie practically beams grinning ear to ear.
“Son of a bitch!” Dustin curses tossing his character sheet to the ground. I let out a disappointed huff slumping in my chair. “Well you guys gave it your all unfortunately for you my little sheep it wasn’t enough.” Eddie sighed. I rolled my eyes tossing a chip from the bag at his head. He just chuckled popping the snack into his mouth.
Everyone began cleaning up gathering their character sheets ready to reevaluate and replan for when we try again. Despite the loss everyone is buzzing with adrenaline from such an intense night. I listened to the youngest boys talking about their new strategies while Jeff and Gareth talked to Eddie. I took a moment staring at the papers of my now dead newest character. The character had given me high hopes with her higher stealth points I thought for sure my plan would have worked.
“Shit Eddie it’s too bad you’re not as good at talking to girls as you are at killing our characters you wouldn’t have a problem getting her to like you back.” I heard Gareth chuckle quietly. Eddie quickly responded by elbowing his good friend in the ribs. My ears perked up at his words. Eddie Munson the freak of Hawkins having a crush? One he didn’t tell his very best friend about.
The information almost made my heart hurt more than getting murdered by Orcus. My crush would just have to remain unrequited. For now I just let it go unknown I had overheard anything returning my focus to Mike’s explanation. “So basically your new character is gonna be based on El?” Dustin questioned a teasing tone to his voice. “Come on man think about it who better than to kick some demon ass!” Mike exclaimed.
“Alright sweetheart you ready to go?” Eddie smiled at me shrugging his leather jacket over his arms. “Yeah dude let’s go.” I say pushing my own jacket on top my Hellfire shirt. The two of us made our way up from the Wheeler basement nodding a quick goodbye to Karen and Holly. Eddie reached his van before I did opening the passenger side for me. “Your chariot m’lady.” He beamed with his Cheshire grin.
With a roll of my eyes I climbed into the van quickly followed by Eddie. “Want me to bring you home or you wanna hang at my place for a bit?” He asked lighting up a cigarette and placing it between his lips. Despite it being a nasty habit it always drew my attention to just how soft and plump his pink lips were. I often caught myself daydreaming about how they’d feel against my own. “Your place sounds great.” I smiled turning up the volume on his radio.
Most of the ride was spent jamming to his metal mixtape and head banging as well as someone can inside a van. Everything was peaceful and carefree not a worry in the world except whether or not Hopper would pull us over for speeding. We came to the very last red light before the road for the trailer park and Eddie turned the music down enough to be heard. “It’s night like these that show me you that we were meant to be best friends.” He smiled his boyish happy smile. “Forever Eddie.” I beamed taking his hand in my own.
🎸❤️🔥🎸❤️🔥🎸❤️🔥🎸❤️🔥🎸❤️🔥🎸❤️🔥🎸❤️🔥🎸❤️🔥🎸❤️🔥
Eddie sat leaned against the headboard tuning and strumming on his guitar while I sat across from him. I couldn’t help but watch the intricate delicacy of his fingers movements across the strings. He had a focused yet relaxed look to him from the comfort of his guitar. A joint lazily sat in his ash tray near by that occasional hits could be taken from. It was just like every other time we’d hang out. Except this time I had a question I needed an answer to.
“Hey Eddie?”
“Hmm?”
“Is it true you have a crush on someone?”
Eddie tensed up at the question halting his music his fingers stilling against the cords. I took a deep breath attempting to brace myself for his upcoming answer. He seemed to ponder for a minute about whether or not he would give me the truth his eyes not meeting my own. He cleared his throat leaning his guitar against the wall and picking up the joint. It seemed as if I was completely frozen in time waiting to find out if the man I had been in love with had feelings for someone else.
“Uh yeah actually I do, have for a while now.”
“No shit? And you didn’t tell me! Who is it?”
“Don’t worry about it sweetheart nothins gonna come from it anyways.”
“Uh uh if Gareth gets to know I wanna know you’re my best friend Eds we tell each other every thing.”
“Alright well she’s gorgeous first off all like the kind of pretty they makes you get caught staring at her. And she’s funny like really funny but also has a bad enough sense of humor to laugh at even my dumbest jokes. And her laugh well it makes me never want to stop talking if she’ll keep laughing and looking at me with that smile.”
My heart burned at his description love falling from every word he spoke. My Eddie didn’t just have a crush he was in love with someone. The kind of in love that the cynical non conformist man used to make fun of. I busied myself with picking at a piece of string on my jeans urging the tears to stay put. “So why don’t you ask her out?” I asked swallowing to avoid my voice breaking.
“I don’t know she always calls me dude I don’t think she’s interested in me like that.”
This made my hurt break even more than it already was. As sad as it would make me to see him end up with someone else at least I knew he’d be happy. He didn’t deserve to sit here and fill his own heads with thoughts about not being good enough. I moved myself so I sat right next to him leaned against his shoulder. He rested his head against my own and I swear I could hear his heart pounding.
“Eddie dude come on don’t be ridiculous I’m sure she likes you how could she not I mean- oh.”
As the words spilled from my mouth it gave my brain a moment to catch up. There was only one person who always called Eddie dude. Me. It had started on accident when I got really nervous around him and accidentally called him babe. Even though he had definitely heard me he pretended he didn’t allowing me to lie and say I had said dude.
I felt Eddie stiffen above me shifting his weight a little. My heart was racing now going quicker than I could keep up with. “Eddie I always call you dude.” I whisper. I wasn’t sure why my voice got so quiet whether it was from nerves or if I was scared to be wrong. Eddie let out a nervous chuckle letting his ring covered hand to grab my own. His calloused fingers soothed over my knuckles and he held my hand a little tighter.
“Yeah you do. Truth is I think I’ve been falling in love with you since our first Hellfire campaign together. You were having so much fun and you absolutely fucked up my villains. Or when you surprised me by going to that Corroded Coffin show and you showed up completely decked out for a metal show. You didn’t care who stared but you danced along to every song and even head banged. And when I caught up with you after and you showed me the Corroded Coffin shirt? I remember turning to Gareth that night and telling him that I wanted to marry you someday.”
“Why did you never tell me?”
“I was terrified (Y/n) you’re my best friend you helped me finally make it through my senior year what if I told you and you didn’t feel the same? I’d like to say I could be a big person about it and go back to being your hot best friend and dungeon master but truth be told I couldn’t. I would rather have lived my life being hopelessly in love with you and you never knowing than ever even thought of you not being in my life.”
“For me the first time was when you stood up to Jason for me. I’ve never seen someone recover from a punch so fast. When I knew for sure was when we went to go see Nightmare on Elm Street. As much as I loved that movie it did freak me out a little but for every jump scare scare you wrapped an arm around me and held me closer. I knew then and there that nothing bad could happen if we were together and I wanted to feel that kind of safe for the rest of my life.”
Eddie and I separated our eyes meeting again. It seemed like he was searching for any sign of me lying or making fun of him. This poor boy had a hard time believing that he could truly have anything good. I did the only thing I could think that would show him. I leaned forward pressing my lips to his and from the moment they connected it felt like fireworks in my chest. After a second of shock he was kissing me back.
His other hand moved to cup my face pulling me closer. His lips moved against mine beating every single one of fantasies about this very moment. He tasted a bit like weed and the Yoo-hoo he had been drinking but it was my new favorite flavor. The kiss broke because he started smiling his wide grin against my lips. “Sorry I couldn’t help it you can’t believe how long I’ve wanted to do that.” He whispered pulling back enough to look me in the eye.
“I think I have a small idea.” I giggled. “So uh does this mean I can take you out on Saturday?” He asked still blushing nervously. “I would love that Eddie.” I beamed my chest feeling warm. Eddie’s eyes lit up for a moment and his smile mischievous. “Okay hopefully this doesn’t change your mind but I have to do something!” He exclaimed running out of the room.
Confused I quirked an eyebrow moving to the doorway. I could see Eddie on the phone in his living room waiting for whoever was on the other end. His leg bounced excitedly. I wondered who he could possibly calling in this moment. I mean his uncle was at work and most his friends were asleep.
“Gareth man listen (Y/n) and I just fucking kissed! I know! Hellfire has a new queen boys.”
dustin: hey eddie what’s in your lunchbox?
eddie:*oh shit this box is full of drugs i can’t tell him though he’s a kid*
eddie: drugs.
eddie:*you fucking idiot that’s the one thing you couldn’t say*
“Why the hell would you say something like that?”
Eddie Munson x reader
summary: instead of the shitty ending we got, he’s gonna live in this fic. you’re welcome<3
warnings: mentions of blood and injuries, crying, trauma, major angst and fluff, language.
a/n: writing is something that is so fun and spectacular. you can create and imagine anything you please. so for me, eddie lives on! and I’m going to continue to dream and write about him! you were a hero eddie, it was your year. thank you for making my life brighter. we love you big boy❤️

“Just promise- promise me y-you won’t lose your- yourself, okay? You have to- live. You have to live, y/n.”
“Shut up! Stop talking like that! You’re going to be fine, Eddie!”
Dustin squeezed your right hand, the slow beeping of Eddie’s bedside vitals being the only thing heard. The room was crowded, everyone slumped in seats, Steve and Robin crouched on the floor. Everyone had tears going down their faces, but you couldn’t shed any.
“We have to get him to a hospital! Dustin- Dustin help me! Steve! Where’s Steve we need him!”
Living in Hawkins was not easy, it never was. You always bounced back, though, whatever the menace that decided to curse the town that season. But this, vecna, everything. It was different this time, and not just for you. Your eyes were glued to the floor, your lips parted as you breathed. There was a feeling in your body that you didn’t understand, a heaviness in your heart.
You were completely traumatized. You’d never seen so much blood, his wounds ripped open from violet claw and teeth marks. His beautiful, shiny white teeth had been stained red. You couldn’t get his face out of your head, smiling up at you from your lap.
“I love you so- so much. You- you’re so beautiful.”
“Dustin, help me carry him! Come on, Eddie, you’re gonna be okay! Shh, it’s alright.”
Violent coughs had smacked you in the face, his mouth spewing blood that made you sob. It had all happened so fast, as cliche as it sounded. You kept replaying every moment in your head, thinking maybe, if you pinched yourself hard enough, you’d wake up from the dream you were having.
He had screamed in pain as you and dustin dragged him to the doorway to your world, and you cried and cried, apologizing profusely. But, you had been running on adrenaline, both you and Dustin, and it made carrying him easier.
No one had spoke for nearly an hour, and despite the glum faces, there was reason to celebrate. Eleven had defeated Vecna. Joyce and Hopper were back. Hopper was alive. Max was hurt with several injuries, but she would be okay. Her and Lucas would be okay. You glanced over to Mike and Eleven, where she rested her head on his shoulder. God, everyone had gotten so much older.
And despite all this happiness, Hawkins’s victory, Eleven’s victory, you couldn’t stop thinking about it.
“I’m not g-going to make it, y/n. put m-me down, you can’t carry me. dustin make her-”
“No, I’m not leaving you here, dammit! I won’t! We’re almost there, Ed’s, just hang on, honey.”
You had physically exhausted yourself with your strength, Dustin too. You gulped, your eyes going up to his bed. He looked so pale, so cold. His hair was wet and matted with his blood. The nurse had cleaned him some, but it didn’t help much. He was going to be fine, the doctor said, and it was all because you had gotten him to the hospital just in time. He was near bled out when you had arrived. But you wouldn’t believe it until you seen his opened his, his pink lips curling into a smile.
And it wasn’t like you were trying to take away the spotlight from everyone, but they hadn’t seen it, besides Dustin, who still clung tightly to your hand. They didn’t hear his screams, how terrified he looked despite his smile. Their hearts didn’t break, yours did. Eddie was still alive, yes. Your best friend, your lover, and it was the greatest gift god had ever given you, but your heart was shattered by agonizing trauma.
“You hungry?” Dustin’s voice dragged you away from your thoughts, and you blinked tiredly as you turned your head to look at him.
The poor kid was exhausted, and you seen the look on his face that yours held. No one else’s had it, just you two. You shook your head. Eating was the last thing you wanted. “No.” You whispered.
“Me neither.” He sighed, looking at his friends. “You think Eddie will need anything from the trailer?” He spoke to everyone, gaining their attention. “I mean, he’s going to be here for a while.”
“I could go,” Nancy spoke up, her bushy hair wild and bright with crimson colors. “What should I bring, y/n?”
The attention was on you then, and you pushed out a squeaky breath. “I, uh-” You looked over at Eddie, your sweet, sweet boy. You blinked tiredly, a lump building in your throat.
Dustin’s eyes bore into yours, and he patted your knee, letting go. “I’ll go with you, Nance. I know what he’ll want.”
It wasn’t till a half hour later, did Eddie make his sign of life. The room was dead quiet, and you heard it, that little whine that was undeniably his. Everyone’s eyes snapped up to him, and you sat up, your breath in your throat.
“Eddie?” Mike shot up, going to his side. “Eddie, can you hear us? It’s me, Mike!”
You stopped breathing, your fingers squeezing the arm wrests as everyone watched with anticipation. Another groan, a twitch of his arm, and then- “Wheeler?”
Everyone cheered at the sound of his cracked, hoarse voice, going to his side. You watched as his eyes peeled open, those beautiful brown eyes that you loved so much. You seen how quickly life replenished in his face, the color already coming back to him, and Steve helped him in a comfortable sitting position.
But you couldn’t get up and run to him. You couldn’t cheer along like they did. You felt like fainting, truthfully. Your face contorted into tears, your body hunching over as your hands covered your face, your elbows resting on your knees. The relief you felt was too overwhelming for you to do anything else, so you just sat there and cried.
“Where is she? My girl?” Eddie beamed, looking up at everyone’s faces. “Y/n, is she here-" He was interrupted by a sob, your sob, and everyone quickly followed the sound. He cocked his head to see around everyone, and then, he saw you. You were in the corner of the room, your hands covering your face, and you were unapologetically sobbing to yourself.
His bright eyes creased at your figure, and he awkwardly tried to set up, biting his lip as a sharp pain went through his stomach. Robin was the first to read the room, and she softly patted Steve’s shoulder, and the quietly ushered everyone out of the room.
“Y/n?” He smiled softly, his voice full of love. He wanted to see your face so badly. You kept crying though, steadily in your hands as you listened to his voice.
“You gonna look at me, sweetheart?”
You sniffled loudly, your hands shaking as you peeled them away from your face. His eyes softened even more at you. You looked at the ground for a few more seconds, and then you batted your eyes up to him. Your heart soared at his beautiful face.
“Hey, you,” He said playfully, tilting his head. He wasn’t clueless to realize you were crying tears of joy, even though there was much more to it.
You could only look at him, your chest heaving as tears fell down your face. You felt on the verge of a panic attack.
“You know,” He raised his brows. “If you really wanted me gone, you could of pulled the plug.” He chuckled, teasing as he nodded to the electrical wires around him.
You choked on a sob, turning to face the window as you shook your head. “Why the hell would you say something like that?”
His smile dropped at the sound of your voice. It wasn’t just tears of joy, you sounded legitimately upset. Your voice was about as hoarse and cracked as his was, and he noticed the tear tracks that fell down your neck. “Sorry, I shouldn’t of said that.” He licked his lips, frowning when you didn’t look any better. “Hey- hey, honey, come here.” He rushed smoothly, wincing as he sat up.
You obeyed blindly, sniffling and whimpering as you shuffled to his bed. You stilled right beside him, and he looked up at you. “You can touch me, you know,” He said slowly, acting as if you were a baby deer. “I won’t disappear, kiddo,” He chuckled, reaching out to brush his hand against your arm.
The touch was enough to melt you. You nearly fell atop of him, your face burying itself in his chest, your arms wrapping around his shoulders, knees smacking against the floor.
“Whoa, hey,” He wrapped his arms around you. “It’s okay, I’m here, baby.” His muscles aches and spasmed at the weight of you, but he held you tightly anyways. You cried into his chest, your hands fisting his shirt. You reached up and grasped his face, sobbing as your eyes locked into his.
“God,” You cried, resting your face against his. “Oh, god, Eddie.”
“I’m alright, y/n,” He grabbed your chin. “Calm down, take a breath. I’m fine.” It was alarming how much you were crying, how upset you were.
His other hand softly petted the back of your head, his thumbs circling your cheek. “I’m alright.” He pressed a soft kiss against your lips, drinking in your whimpers.
“I’m guessing you missed me then?” He chuckled, closing his eyes.
“I want us to leave, Eddie.” You sniffled, grabbing his face, whimpering at his features. He was still alive, you told yourself. “I can’t- we can’t stay here, Eddie, please. Please-”
“Woah, woah, what?” He sat up, looking up at you. “What are you talking-”
“I can’t.” You sobbed, your voice cracking heavily. Your hand clasped over his heart, shaking your head. “No more, Eddie. We can’t keep- I don’t want to live here anymore! It’s too dangerous, and I can’t-”
He looked at you with wide eyes, his hands resting on your arms. “Y/n,”
“I can’t live without you.” You said more quietly, voice coated with traumatized tears. “Eddie, I was so scared. I still- I’m still scared, I don’t wanna l-loose you! Please, tell me we can go! Please,”
“Okay, okay, shh,” He grabbed your face. “Calm down, shh, it’s alright.” He pulled you close, holding you as tight as he could. He realized know just how traumatized you were. Really, he had trouble remembering all about what happened. He remembered the pain, and the sound of both your screams. He remembered how stubborn you were as you dragged him through the upside down with Henderson. “Y/n, I’m alright, you hear me? I’m here, you’re here. We’re alive, sweetheart. We’re okay.”
You sobbed into his chest, your hand resting at the back of his neck. “Don’t ever leave me.” You cried. “Swear it. Swear you won’t leave me again.”
Despite all of this, he’d never felt more confident. Finally, in his life, he didn’t run. Sure, he got torn up in shreds, but he didn’t run. He was a hero, and it was his year. You made it his year. “I swear it.”
Hola! I have returned, like the plague 🤡
Señor Munson has major angst coming his way
clinging to each other, forehead kiss, hard kiss, desperate kiss, kissing away tears
Please and thank you 💖
Leave Your Body And Soul (Eddie Munson x gn!reader)
Summary: You fully intend to let yourself go when you’re trapped by Vecna’s grasp convinced that no one on the upside will be able to save you. Until you hear the sound of your favorite song playing from a distance. CW: ST4 spoilers, angst with a happy ending, some suggestive descriptions but nothing explicit. words: 3k.
(A/N: TORI, thank you once again for your request! this is one hell of a self-indulgent thing, I hope I did your prompt justice! I don't wanna say which song inspired this because if you don't know it, it can be open to interpretation and be some fictional band, I'd love to hear about who guesses the song because of the references tho <3)

You’ve felt like this before.
Trapped, constricted, like your muscles have turned to concrete and your airway has been chainsawed off of you.
Like you want to scream but the tendons on your neck are taut and all sound has been punched from within you. Like there is a demon breathing down your neck, its growling piercing right through your eardrums.
You’ve felt like this before but only for mere seconds, before the easing realization that it was only one of your sleep paralysis episodes. It happens often – but as it became a common recurrence, those don't scare you anymore. You've learned to discern between nightmares and reality and patiently wait for those moments of limbo to fade, and the movement on your joints to return.
This isn’t like that.
There is only hellish chasm around you, neverending darkness with crimson lightning streaks cutting through the sky, illuminating the looming outlines of bat-like monsters flying in circles all around you as you’ve turned into their very prey.
You’re wide awake and the figure choking you is no phantom, is no product of your R.E.M. sleep in conflict with your waking brain.
You see everything, you’re fully conscious – there are slimy tentacles wrapping around your throat, tightening progressively, dangerously. And whereas before you’ve been all talk about enjoying horror movies, joking about Freddy Krueger being the best slasher there ever was – now you’re face to face with a look alike creature whose milky orbs penetrate through you, grasping all your memories and twisting them to their advantage. This is no movie, this is real.
“It is time for you to join me…” it gravely announces as its spidery claw surges forward.
“No one will miss you here, (Y/N)...you’re alone in this world. Join me now…there’s nothing for you out there.”
You’re sure you’re about to die but by now you knew this was coming.
You’d been feeling weak, although you attributed it to your anemia initially.
Then the headaches started, the nosebleeds. Your sleep paralysis episodes became a nightly routine, so now you dreaded the nighttime, just like Nancy in Nightmare on Elm Street.
Your gut urged you that something was wrong, but you couldn’t pinpoint what, didn’t know who to tell, what to do.
After everything that unfolded with Eddie being blamed for Chrissy’s murder, after joining Dustin and his friends to go find him and learning about Vecna, after everything that happened with Max… you knew your time was coming, but you didn’t want to be hindrance to anyone so you didn’t confess that you too had all the coinciding symptoms.
You weren’t even close friends with the gang. You were close to Eddie.
You only hopped aboard this ghoulish trek to clear his name, to get him back.
Which is why, as Vecna’s grip tightens around you, the deeper his stare penetrates your soul, no matter the pain, you will yourself to slowly feel at peace with the fact that this is it.
They wouldn’t be able to save you, they wouldn’t have a means of knowing what kind of music you were into, what was your favorite song.
The one person that did know it hadn’t been out in the woods with you when you were taken.
And even if they figure it out it’ll be too late; you didn’t even bring that tape with you, so they wouldn’t be able to play it.
You close your eyes and welcome death.
...Until…
…From afar, there’s a faint sound that you’d recognize anywhere. A singular guitar riff, a particular voice.
It’s immediately familiar, even though the sound is drowned out and distant – sounds as if you’re listening to it from underwater, or from another room so you can only perceive the distorted echoes and remnants of the melody. Like when you’re adjusting the needle on a car’s stereo so all there is is static and white noise before the tune adjusts.
But you know it, you’d recognize it anywhere no matter the circumstance.
It’s a song that you’d ink on your skin if there was a way to do so.
You open your eyes, your heart pounds – not in fear but from the excitement you get from listening to it. With each reverberation against your chest the more life pumps back into you.
There are trumpets now, the singer is howling. This is the part that makes you the happiest. Those are the sounds that remind you of home…
“...I just moved here from the west coast.” You’d shyly confided to your locker neighbor, Eddie Munson. He’d been the first person that had attempted to make any sort of contact with you, first person to even look you in the eyes on your first day of school in ‘84.
He’d noticed you moping about the halls all day but was keen on getting to know you. You clearly stood out from the way you dressed, down to your general demeanor and learning that you had just transferred here made all the sense in the world now. There was a certain warmth to you that he hadn’t come across before.
“Oh yeah? I bet you’re finding it awfully different here. I’ve been told the people out there in the west are more laid back about everything.”
“Being in the sun helps, I think…being so close to the beach…” You shrugged but felt a timid smile blossoming from Eddie’s presence and his honest interest.
He laughed, “Well you’re always welcome to hang out with us. I run the Hellfire Club, you know – the D&D club out here. I’m the Dungeon Master.” He proudly stated, puffing out his chest and fixing the lapels of his jacket while flashing you the brightest grin you’d ever seen so far in all of Hawkins.
“I’d love to! Although I don’t really know how to play. I’m more into music myself.”
“Really!? Me too! What kind?”
“I like a bit of everything, but back home, Ska and New Wave is what it’s all about.”
“You’ll have to show me. I know so little of it.”
“Well, this is my favorite band…”
Your heartbeat races, kick-started by the thundering, celebratory brass section of the song that melded so uniquely with its guitars. Its sound surpasses the growling of the beasts surrounding you, getting clearer and clearer by the second.
I was struck by lightning,
Walking down the street,
I was hit by something last night,
In my sleep
The chorus is festive, making the blood rush through your veins once more, livening up your bones to grant you back the willpower to fight against Vecna. If you had a reason to fight for your life, it was the chance of hearing this song once more as if it was the first time you’d ever listened to it. Or the first time you’d ever shown it to Eddie.
Eddie wasn’t that big of a fan of your favorite band, but he always indulged you eagerly in whatever interest excited you. It’s what made you fall so hard for him – his endless generosity. He had everything you’d ever dreamed to find in someone.
At first you were cursing Hawkins and wanted to move back to the paradise of your home, but everything changed after meeting Eddie.
He was kind despite his reputation, intelligent despite his grades, handsome despite those who brushed him off as some dirty freak.
Though you were friendly with everyone in the Hellfire club, you only really connected deeply with him. He became your friend first and foremost, and then something more…
“...Why do you want this tape, (Y/N)? I thought you said you didn’t like the movie when we watched it at the theater.” He had an arm around you while you waited in line at Family Video; you’d made your usual stop here for movies and snacks before heading back to his trailer and spending your usual date night cuddled up at home all night.
He was referring to John Hughes ‘Weird Science', which had been one of the first movies you’d seen together at the movies as a proper couple, a year later after you’d first moved to Hawkins. Eddie had always been vocal about not liking John Hughes' movies and yet he complied with you, even if you only wanted to see that movie in the first place because your favorite band had done the theme song.
“I didn’t, but I want to watch it for the song.”
“(Y/N) you have that album anyway.” He chuckled.
“Yeah, but it’s not the same, Eddie. It’s about the experience of hearing them come out in the movie.”
“Okay then…” He lovingly shook his head and tightened his hold around you, lightly pecking your forehead.
You remember his kisses.
The feeling of his touch – of his hand, forever interlocked with yours no matter what. Like an anchor, his hand was always on you, when you were feeling despaired, anxious and especially when you were feeling happy.
Like you did every time you listened to this song.
He’d ask you once about your favorite song of theirs, one night when you were playing their latest album while making out with him in the back of his van.
“It’s this one…” you gasped into his hungry lips, arms locked around his neck as he straddled you, “if I had to pick just one song as my favorite, ever, it would have to be this one…”
He grins against your lips, giggling and kissing you all over, as was always the way in which he showed his affection. “Why?”
“I don’t know, it just makes me happy. Truly happy. I could’ve picked Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac, or Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin…any other song that I listen to when I’m sad if this was a life or death situation. Even this band has deeper songs, but…this one encompasses everything I like in life. It’s weird and joyous. Reminds me of my home…”
“Good to know,” he tenderly pecked your forehead. “Thank you for sharing that with me”
“I want to share everything with you…”
You start to heave and cough as your biceps contract, hands gripping Vecna’s tentacles and pulling with everything you got – so hard you feel like you’ll pop a blood vessel, that you’ll black out from the sheer amount of strength exerted, as the song in the distance becomes louder.
The gleeful chorus resounds, the trumpets cheer you on.
And in your mind, the memory of Eddie drives you, adds all the momentum that you need to kick the monster in its core and yank the restraining vines from you making you tumble down into the ground.
You find your impulse in the triumphant harmonies to lift yourself from the ground and start running, running, running to save your life despite the dead man on your shoulder, despite the bumpy ground and the monsters hissing above you.
You make it far enough but your sore quads give up on you and you trip, the swirling vines instantly wrapping themselves around your feet and pulling you back.
Your screams for help are drowned out from the singer’s voice being distorted into a haunting barb, taunting you.
You’re tempted to give in at that moment. Surely the monster was right.
No one would miss you.
Eddie would move on, he has his whole life ahead of him. He has his band, his friends, his dreams of the future to look forward to.
You’re being dragged back to Vecna’s trap, each vine bumping and rasping your skin in the process when suddenly a white blob breaks through the grimm skies, offering you a peek into the upside.
Eddie’s kneeling by your figure, desperately shaking your shoulders, pressing a pair of headphones into your ears as if to make sure that the sound would be clear enough to pierce through this sixth dimension you’re in.
His sight is so far away, but you can see his skin all blotchy from his tortured cries, see his lips mouthing the lyrics of the song to your face.
You wish he’d accept your fate, let you go.
But then more memories flood your mind…
“...Eddie, where did you get this!? This is super rare. You can only get it back home at the event!” You sat around a fire that Christmas, by your usual spot in the woods where you’d gone to have a little celebration of your own and exchange gifts. You were grinning from ear to ear because Eddie had gotten you a t-shirt from your favorite band, the ones they only sell at their exclusive Halloween show every year at Irvine Meadows.
“I have my ways,” he giggled smugly, with his bourbon eyes twinkling from the neverending pleasure he got from making you happy. “Have I ever told you about my friend, Reefer Rick?”
It was those kinds of details that spoke volumes of Eddie’s affection for you. Of how deep he was willing to go, of how far a distance he was willing to trail in order to see you smile.
“I love you, Eddie,” You sighed after a kiss to his cheek as he finished his tale of how he got acquainted with Rick and what he had to do to get this shirt.
“I love you too, sweetheart…”
The fissure in the horizon grows larger, with shimmering, frayed edges that tease you, threatening to close out on you if you’re not quick enough, strong enough to escape from Vecna’s claws.
Then the keyboard solo of the song augments in volume, resonant and gleeful before the sound fades in for the singer’s melodious voice,
It’s a dead man’s party, who could ask for more?
Everybody’s coming
leave your body and soul at the door
Don’t run away, it’s only me
You sob and growl as you find your impulse once more, surging from the ground to your feet, willing your legs to carry you onto the finish line, recalling a promise made not too long before all of this chaos ensued…
“...I hear they’re making this movie, ‘Back To School’ with Rodney Dangerfield.” Eddie murmured one morning, naked beside you except for a sheet covering him from the waist down while trailing exhausted kisses all over the sweaty planes of your skin.
“Oh?” You humm, barely able to form coherent words as you were amidst your afterglow, recovering your breath. “I thought you said you didn’t like his comedy. He kinda gives me creeper vibes, too.”
“I know,” he kissed your cheek, your jaw, “but your favorite band is supposed to appear in a scene playing your song.”
“How do you know?” You were instantly way more alert from those news, softly pushing him by the shoulders so he could spill all the intel.
“Because of the Secret Society…” He playfully rolled his eyes. The Secret Society was your band’s fan club, and you received their newsletter every month. You didn’t think Eddie would’ve read it, especially not before you, so this gesture warmed up your heart in ways you couldn't describe with words alone. “Yeah, I think it comes out in June.”
“It’ll be a date then,”
He nodded in reply, smiling all doe eyed and blissed out before grabbing your hand and poking you in the nose with his pinkie finger.
“Let’s just hope that title is not a bad omen for you,” you teased him, making him audibly gasp and tackle you with smooches on that ticklish spot on the side of your neck.
“Shut up, man!” he wheezed, “No way, baby, you’ll see. This year – is my year…”
You extend your hand like a trident of power as you run, hoping that some invincible string, some kind of magnetic force will help drag you towards the light, towards Eddie’s sobbing figure crouched down over you.
Don’t run away, it’s only me
Don’t be afraid
Of what you can see
You’re so close, so so close, you’re able to see the tears running down on Eddie’s face.
The chorus rises in crescendo as your one last hope, repeating itself like the last notes of a carnival song at the end of the day when the heat is syrupy sweet and there’s cheer flowing like confetti along the air.
You’d made him a promise, you’d go on that date, he’d graduate this year…
Don’t run away, it’s only me
Don’t be afraid of what you can see
It’s only me
It’s only me…
You scrunch shut your eyes and dive into the light as the last notes of the trumpets sign off.
You come back to yourself with a gasp, gulping for that one breath after having been drowning, instantly clinging to Eddie whose arms are madly grasping at each bit of your skin he could.
You feel his tears on your face before you can even focus your sight – feel his trembling lips on your forehead, hands roughly encasing your face to press hard kisses on your cheeks and nose and lips.
When you finally open your eyes you’re met with his doe eyes, crystalline with tears that form rivers on his cheeks that you immediately surge up to kiss away, grabbing his hands where they rest on your face.
“I thought I’d lost you,” He sobs.
“We have a date, remember? I’ve never bailed on my promises.”
Regardless of the crowd around you, your attention is purely consumed by Eddie for it’s the first time you’ve seen him since he went missing.
“You remembered…” you murmur against his mouth, weakly taking off the headphones he’d placed on your ears.
“What’s that, baby?”
“My favorite song…”
“How could I ever forget?”
“But, how? I don’t remember having my cassette with me in my backpack.”
“I have it -- carry it everywhere. In case you ever need something to cheer you up.”
You kiss him, again and again and again, basking in his scent, in the softness of his clothes, in his skin against yours, because despite it all he’d chosen to keep a piece of you with him throughout the mayhem all around him. Because he’d chosen you, ever since you moved to Hawkins, and continued to choose you.
Because his hold became a home, when yours had been left behind in the past.
You kiss him again and again, all over his face, clinging to him because you don’t know what tomorrow may bring, what may change.
Again and again, kissing away his tears, tongue licking into his mouth in your desire to get impossibly closer still to him.
And again, infinitely glad to have chosen to stay to see just another day with Eddie by your side.
Being His Best Friend - Eddie Munson Headcanons

just some headcanons of what i think it would be like to be best friends with eddie munson (including a little bit of what it would be like to be crushing on said best friend)
being eddie’s best friend didn’t come without it’s challenges
for starters you had to put up with his loud personality, not that it ever bothered you too much
it took a while to get used to when you first met him but eventually you learnt to love how he was always so unapologetically himself all the time
it was a quality you admired most about him
speaking of him being loud, eddie likes to tease you, like a lot
you have a crush on someone? he’ll know for sure and he will tease you about it all the time unless it’s him you’re crushing on, then he’s painfully oblivious for far too long
your crush walks by? he’s giving you that look, the one where you can tell he’s only seconds away from making stupid little kissy noises and mimicking you telling them how much you love them
if you’re not crushing on anyone or crushing on him but he’s too much of an airhead to notice he will just tease you about random things like how well or bad you did on your recent test or how silly you looked when you tripped over nothing while walking over to meet him
aside from the teasing, eddie is a really great friend
as the certified town freak, eddie doesn’t really care what other people say about him or how they treat him, he’ll just be his usual self and yell something back at them while pulling a weird face
when it comes to you, however, he gets pissed if someone says anything that could hurt you
you’re his best friend, only he’s allowed to bully you
would definitely be a little too protective of you, especially if you’re the quiet type or someone who doesn’t like showing when they’re upset
you both hang out a lot, like all the time
in his trailer, in the woods at school, even just sitting in his van for a while before or after hellfire
if you’re open to getting a little high or drinking then he’ll definitely take you up on it, though he’d never make you do it if you didn’t want to
getting high with eddie is always eventful, even when you just end up lying on the floor giggling like idiots about something stupid
getting drunk with eddie is another matter
drunk eddie is definitely a hot mess, in all meanings of the word
he will probably hit on you, just for the sake of teasing you unless he actually likes you
he’s also prone to spilling beer over, well, everything
it’ll be over you, over him, over the carpet, you name it
he just can’t help but swing his arms around with the beer in his hand while he’s telling you some wild story or complaining about something
if he’s got music on and a particularly good song comes on he will be up, dancing around like a fool while he screams along to it, even going as far to whipping out some air guitar
sometimes he goes too hard with the dancing/air guitar and will stumble and fall only to laugh at himself before getting right back up again
when you’re hanging out in his trailer more often than not he will pull out his guitar, asking you to listen to some knew riff he’s learnt
if you play guitar too he’ll probably even challenge you to a game of who can play the coolest riff or he’ll just ask you to play something so he can critique or gush over your playing
if you didn’t already play d&d before befriending him he will definitely try to convince you to join hellfire or at least to try it out
if d&d is’t really for you he won’t persist, though he’s always grateful when you tag along to hellfire to watch them play or just when you let him talk out his next campaign to you
overall eddie thinks you’re the coolest person in the world and honestly wonders how he ended up with a best friend as great as you
