The First Time Bucky And Tony Saw Each Other, It Was Hate At First Sight. There Was No Other Explanation

The first time Bucky and Tony saw each other, it was hate at first sight. There was no other explanation for the way their hearts beat quicker, the way their breath grew shorter, the way it felt like they had been hit by lightning.

(It certainly wasn't attraction, couldn't be. It wasn't a desire to experience what those lips tasted like, how those strong hands would feel, the heights they could take each other to. No way.)

Since then, their rivalry had become legendary at the Marvel Bakery. They both tried to outdo the other with gorgeous creations. It had to be bigger, better, fancier.

(And it was rivalry. It wasn't a scream for the other to notice me, smile at me, care about me.)

There were bets among their colleagues, though they weren't aware of those. They were too busy competing, fighting, arguing. In the end, it happened during one of their frequent disagreements. They were yelling, heartbeat quickening, eyes flaring with spite (not with passion, of course not), getting closer, closer, closer.

And then they were kissing and they couldn't get close enough to one another.

Their colleagues hadn't been expecting to want to go back to when they thought they hated one another. Working in a bakery involved plenty of sugar, but they were all certain it was Bucky and Tony who would be giving them cavities in the end.

They end up sitting on the floor, pressed flush against each other and leaning back against the couch, eating spaghetti straight out of the container perched carefully between their laps. Tony is warm and comfortable against Bucky’s side, smudge of sauce at the corner of his mouth. Bucky can’t stop staring.

“I think you made this dialogue up,” Bucky says suspiciously, dragging his eyes back to the TV to squint at the subtitles. “There’s no way this movie is actually about time traveling earrings. That’s why it looks like a bootleg. You took some other poor kung-fu movie and made it this.“

“How dare you, sir?” Tony demands, looking not at all actually offended as he shoves more pasta into his mouth, “this is a very serious movie, about very serious magical accessories. How could you not be appreciating this right now?!”

“I’m just sayin’, if someone offered me earrings they described as ‘deeply and horrifically cursed’, I would just not take them,” Bucky says with a shrug, and uses Tony’s moment of sputtering distraction to twirl himself up a huge bite of noodles without Tony trying to knock it off his fork, as has become their game.

25. what’s the best personal gift someone could give you (playlist, homemade card, etc.)

I honestly love anything that someone makes specifically for me, but if I had to pick? A letter. I absolutely love getting letters, reading them and later re-reading them... It’s like a story between me and the sender that I can enjoy over and over again. I pretty much keep all letters I’ve ever gotten, and even if I lose them for a while, reading them again months or years later, it still makes me feel warm inside.

27. which character would you want to be? 

A difficult question mostly because it depends on what it means, exactly, to be a character. Do you have their powers, their adventures, their very identity? In general, probably one of the many self-inserts I’ve thought up over the years that have all kinds of cool powers (like my recent ‘elemental’ insert in the MCU) 😝

30. what reminds you of home?

A good hug. Sometimes my mind bounces a bit too much to enjoy it as I should, and it’s too busy, but those times where I can let myself enjoy a hug? Where I can lean into it and breathe it and feel it all the way through? That’s home to me.
