bc it’ll be smth like ‘Whumpee just got an invitation from Whumper, they say it’s urgent. Whumpee figures they might as well, Whumper’s a nice guy anyways’, and like it’s just so funny!!

bc logically ik that the whumpee/whumper names are just placeholders, but reading about Whumpee or someone else deciding whether or not to trust this guy named Whumper is just hilarious to me. idk. do you guys get it??

Being trapped in your body after its death.

In the history of my world, there was a mage who wanted to live forever. If your magic is strong enough, your ghost may remain behind, she knew, and she thought: what if one traps the ghost inside the body? What if one forces the soul to remain in the body, indefinitely?

She knew the runes needed to trap magic inside. She perfected the spell, making sure it works, it holds for decades, it doesn't falter. She didn't have the time to test it: she was hunted as all mages were in those times.

She carved the runes into her skin. She was killed before they healed.

And as she fell, her last thought in her life was a desperate hope that the spell had worked;

And it did. As she learned when she came to, still in her body. It did -- as she tried to get up and couldn't. It did -- as she tried to take a breath and couldn't. As her heart never moved, unbeating, dead.

It did -- she learned as she lied, unmoving, as bugs tickled her skin and birds pecked her body in curiosity. She felt, the spell tying her to the ground, as they bit, ripping away bits of flesh, one after the other. She felt a bigger animal come, nuzzling her before biting, ripping her leg off with careful attempts. She felt, her legs away from her body, as it was eaten.

The spell held her in her body -- every bit of it.

The final death couldn't come quickly enough.
