Helpful art tip

Young artists,

It’s 100% cool if you’re still finding your style and you mimic other styles because that’s how you learn.

Actually that goes for everyone young artists just need positive reinforcement for healthy development.

ArtTips

Important art stuff

This is just some stuff I learned through the few years I’ve been making art.

Nothing you make is bad. It is simply not what you had envisioned!

Sketchbooks are for practice. Don’t be afraid to make stupid doodles in them or make mistakes. It’s there to learn!

Try out a lot of different materials. Most materials have a really cheap alternative that still gives you an overall idea on how much you’ll like it!

Digital vs traditional art is totally up to you. For some one is easier than the other, some use both or combine! None is superior to the other!

For digital art you don’t need some super fancy drawing tablet. Mine was 55€ when I bought it and that’s over 5 years ago. Still works perfectly! Also there’s a lot of cracked downloads or free artprograms to try out.

Speedpaints are great to learn. There’s a ton of them on youtube and looking at how people do their art is the best way to learn imo.

Don’t focus on what’s popular, focus on what you want to do. Ofc popular styles or fanart will get you more notes online, but doing that all the time can give you a quick burn-out or you’ll straight up hate yourself for it.

You’re never too old to start art. NEVER.

It’s ok to study/copy styles for practice. Figure out what you like about some of your favourite pieces and try to get it into your art (ex. if you like the colours of a certain piece, try working with those colours!)

Work at your  own speed. Everyone evolves differently. And don’t compare to others, only to your past self!

You don’t need art school. You simply don’t need it

Have fun in what you create. The fact that you created it from nothing is already an art on it’s own
