One of my absolute favourite serves for Hospital Playlist will be Songhwa being the first to know about minha properly and Seokhyeong being the first to know about IkSong properly. That scene was the sweetest.

me: jeong won brought the 99′ers back together at yulje and now he’s leaving which is why ik jun said he felt like it was their last band session…….

me: after song hwa went into their tent to sleep, ik jun was sitting there with tears in his eyes happily looking at the sky because he finally was truly happy with the girl he’d loved in different ways for 22 years 

someone: that’s great but you’re still crying?

me: song hwa, seok hyung, and jeong won were happy to be alone in season 1′s early episodes and wanted to be alone but now they all have found their own loves who cherish them

someone: okay let me go get you a tissue and -

me: the scene of jun wan sitting on the bench next to song hwa and ik jun on their own bench was so beautiful because that’s how the 99′ers really began - when ik jun and jun wan sat next to song hwa during their interviews and the attaction between iksong bloomed.

someone: the tears are still going…..

me: they ended the episode with them looking at a sunset……in season 1, the last band song ended with them asking to remain as a beautiful memory like a sunset. that’s our final shot of them.

someone: okay i get it now stop crying

me: there’s no season 3. there’s no season 3 and it’s over and now i have this massive hole in my heart that they occupied for 2 years WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW - 

I like how it ends

I love how they wrapped it. It gives me a satisfying closure with a little bit of crumbs here and there to see fans' reaction, leaving it open for possibility of another season

At the same time, I want more

I want it to be longer

I don't want it to end

I'll miss you

So I know there is a lot of speculation about the next episode and the preview being what it is, suspecting that Ik Jun may have been injured. Since they mentioned "did you find out who stole it", and knowing how ShinLee love to clown us ... Maybe someone stole Ik Jun's wallet, and in an attempt to escape, got hit on the back of the head, and the paramedics found his ID on him and thought it was Ik Jun? (A photoless ID would make sense here...)

Anyone else? We've got two weeks to get through!!

EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING!

I remember a year ago when they did a live stream, and Na PD read that off the comments. Shin PD just had a poker face...

And that's how Jang Young Seok PD was created

Just Na PD fulfilling some fan's request to cameo as Jang Mo Ne and Jang Ma Ne's father.

I laughed so hard here that my eyes teared up.

Ik jun has always been the playful one but seok hyung, you adorable Teddy bear. He deadass made fun of Jun wan with that serious face. For real.

Jun wan, really, at least watch the movies some day. You'll love them I think. Or just learn the spells to use on these two😂

And now we wait for MIDO AND FALASOL to debut in the kpop scene as MALFOY.

this episode is a reminder to check in on your parents, your guardians. we’re getting old and it feels like they’re nagging us all the time, but they’re getting old too. let’s take care of each other and live long and healthy 💖

Lots of things to unpack in this episode, but few parallels, and the moments that I think showcases their different personalities.

1. The parallel between Song Hwa's mother being diagnosed with Parkinson's and Jeong Won's mother being treated for hydrocephalus. One with no definitive cure, and the other that can be cured with a procedure. While I can't comment on her relationship with her mother, because I remember from season 1, that she would use surgery as an excuse to cut calls short, the level of devastation would have been so much more for her. She's a neurosurgeon and her mother is suffering from a neurological condition that she cannot do much more about. Jeon MiDo and Yoo Yeon Seok both did phenomenal jobs.

2. Running to the emergency room because the girl you like was ill. Jeong Won in season 1, was so hesitant in going in he just stood outside and sent her a text. He hesitated so much, although he wanted to be there for her so much more. He's growing now and being supportive for Gyeoul. While one would think Seok Hyung would do something similar, in seeing how he would care for his mother, in season one where he asked a nurse who was walking into the ladies bathroom to keep an eye on his mother, you see that when he cares about someone, he doesn't hesitate to do what he can to take care of them. He's still our silent bear, but it showcased his personality. He has been choosing to be close with Min Ha, and coming to the ER when he found out she fainted is part of that.

3. Gyeoul coming to visit Jeong Rosa. Her own mother was just in the hospital. She couldn't tell Jeong Won the details of it, and he unfortunately could not come down to see her, as much as he wished he could. While he himself had not told her about Rosa's surgery, she came to see her when she found out about it and there was no hesitation on her part. She was doing to Jeong Won what he was unable to do for her, and especially since she had met Rosa once before, it was not like she was meeting a complete stranger.

I love hospital playlist so much. The writing, the stories about the doctors, patients and the people looking after them resonate with me so much. Even if there are moments that make me cry, it's still my warm blanket by the fire place.
