Distracted-and-diffused - My Thoughts Are Many Miles Away...

Initial Introductory Post!

Hi Tumblr! Long time lurker, first time blogger!

I remember when the wild Tumbeasts roamed these lands... though I was but a visitor then...

"Distracted" or "Diffused" is fine for me as a short name; will answer to either one. Expect both parts of that to be accurate.

[Edited to add - started using "DD" here; will go by that. Upper or lower case is fine.]

I'm planning for this to be the companion blog to my AO3 account (distracted_and_diffused), and to share fandom stuff but not a lot of personal stuff. I currently have one tiny drabble posted, and hope to post another fic soon.

My current (unposted) WIPs are in the following fandoms:

I have lurked in various fandoms since the mid-1990s, but have mostly tended to discuss fandom stuff offline with friends, so this is me dipping a toe into larger fannish waters!

This is the part where I try to reassure you that I am not a bot. (Which, I am aware, is something a bot would probably say, so I am at something of a disadvantage...)

If it's the beginning of June 2024 and you're wondering why I suddenly followed you -- you looked like you were cool and also you were my Tumblr-assigned blog partner (they ask you to follow 3 blogs from a pre-selected list when you sign up now).

I will eventually make more posts! Eventually... probably... I think.

New definition of gritty reboot: the story is exactly the same, but one main character has been replaced by Gritty.

On a related note -- kinda worried about what this means for my media comprehension skills. I've watched that scene a dozen times, and only now just caught on... it's a fairly subtle thing, but was I just oblivious or am I getting too deep in a headcanons-upon-headcanons sense?

(Note to self in case I forget about this later... this is the part to do with metallurgy)

Woke up at 5AM thinking about my current WIP chapter and suddenly realized what was subconsciously bugging me about the scene I was writing, in a "how did I miss that" kind of way.

Thought about it for hours; completely rewrote half a dozen paragraphs.

I like it better now...

There's still something bugging me, but I figure I'll fix it in rewrites.

I didn't believe it at first but after watching the show, Dead Boy Detectives was so obviously crafted to be catnip for the Tumblr girlies(gn), cause like. Homoerotic ghost detectives. Sassy psychics. Weird girls. Witches. A literal cat king. Sad twink that's actually a crow. Hot goth lesbian butchers. Slowburn ft. immortal beings. Gay confessions in hell. This show was crafted in a lab for us, and I LOVE IT. Go watch it if you haven't already.
