Sal'kar is my beloved son and I could talk about him forever and always

*clears throat*

Let's start with the basics. Sal'kar is an abyss dweller, a kind of seadweller that can survive at the bottom of ocean trenches. He's the son of Tinrea and Yovska, he also has a twin sister, Xelena. His family chose to walk away from their abyssal life and started living in the city.

Like all his close relatives Sal'kar posesses shapeshifting abilities that let him circle between three forms. First the leviathan form, about the size of emperor leviathan from subnautica, his legs disappear in exchange for a more powerful tail. In that form his skin becomes semi-transparent showing off his luminescent internal organs and bones. Think the ghost leviathan in subnautica. Yes I based his whole family on subnautica, hush.

Then he has his in-between form, which is the form you've seen. A bit less comfortable than the leviathan look, but still allows him good movement in water. That also lets him interact with some trolls, as long as they're not scared of him.

Lastly there's the land form, looking almost like a normal troll, except for some visual mutations. His tail being the most visible thing about him. I actually have a sketch of what I imagined his face to be like in that form, and yes he has hair.

When he was barely old enough to decide for himself he ran away from his hive, hating how loud and busy the city life is. Took him a lot of time and struggle to figure out how to survive while also avoiding his family searching for him. After a long while he stumbled upon an underwater cave with glowing cyan crystals. He decided to stay there, as the soft light was comforting to his still preteen mind. What he didn't know is that the very cave system he called home was an entrance to a lost civilisation of trolls.

Scared at first the trolls soon realized he's a harmless child. The elders have decided to take him in, seeing potential in what they saw in front of them. It took him a long time to learn their language, but he found other ways to communicate with them. The trolls showed him their history which was doccumented on the walls of the caverns they called home. They taught him all they know, officially accepting Sal'kar as one of their own.

Hello everyone.

It's unfortunate, but things haven't improved much this past month. We have been struggling a lot with making ends meet and between the heat and both of us being sick, we're not holding up well. Right now, I'm just asking for help affording food and a motel room for us to shelter in while we recover and look for work. I cannot be outside too long right now in this heat and my stomach has been a mess so we really need a room. I'm trying my hardest to find a decent job to get us out of this mess but it's been slow going.

It's pride month so please consider sending a bit of relief our way, or even just reblogging this so others can. Any help is appreciated.

i just think that, most of the time, you really do need to teach people how to love you. and equally, you need to be taught how to love others. this can feel scary and hard and even like a failure, especially if you're approaching a relationship with trauma - shouldn't it be easy to love me? yeah ofc. but love is an act of translation between people across experience, geography, culture, memory. it's constant, purposeful translation. and though it can be hard, there is real joy to be found in the teaching and learning of love.
