Headcanon That Sirius Had Serious Energy Problems As A Kid. Like He Couldnt Sit Still And His Parents

Headcanon that Sirius had serious energy problems as a kid. Like he couldn’t sit still and his parents used to yell at him a lot because “Blacks don’t fidget!!!”.

Sirius goes to Hogwarts and meets someone who has the same problem (aka James) and they slowly start to equal each other out. And then Remus helps find ways to keep Sirius entertained when James isn’t around so he doesn’t get to antsy. Hell, even Lily will supply him answers if she notices he was out of it.

Sirius also gets distracted by noise a lot, so Remus sometimes takes him up to the Astronomy tower (when there’s not a class) to help him calm.

Even Peter helps out when the others aren’t around. Like he’ll notice Sirius’ hands twitching or his foot tapping and he’ll just casually suggest they stop studying and go do something fun for a while.

Basically just a head cannon where Sirius has slight ADHD and how the other Marauders take it upon themselves to help out.

Eyes.

Remus Lupin has eyes the colour of sunlit amber. They flick quickly across pages, move slowly over faces, and avoid the gazes of all but his friends. They crinkle in the corners when he laughs, and when he transforms, they are the only piece of him that remains.

Sirius Black has eyes the colour of moonlit ice. They glint like steel with anger, shine like glass with mirth, and flash between states in the space between breaths. Only once have they gone to a flat, slate grey; and they stayed that way for twelve years.

sleep

Sirius:  - stays up til 3am and wakes up at 6am - has nightmares and is terrified of the dark (but would kill you if u found out) - doesn’t feel safe when he’s sleeping on his own - sleeps in an oversized quidditch jersey and boxers

James: - can function on literally no sleep but loves to nap - always forgets to take his glasses off before he goes to bed - curls up in a ball when he sleeps - prefers to sleep with the window open and all the lights off so it’s as dark and cool as possible

Remus:  - literally the heaviest sleeper ever (has slept through a firework display, multiple quidditch games and the loudest and most legendary Gryffindor party in Hogwarts’ history) - snores a bit and hogs the blankets - doesn’t function before noon and is a grumpy bitch in the morning - sleeps in woolly jumper and pyjama bottoms as well as several thousand blankets because wHY IS THE WORLD ALWAYS SO DAMN COLD

Peter: - sleeps with a small army of stuffed animals (they’re there for decoration okay) - either sleeps for two hours or for twelve ; there is no in between - that weirdo that doesn’t need an alarm clock, he just like, knows when to get up??? - only wants to sleep with the window closed because he gets anxious otherwise and is at constant war with James where they both wake up sporadically throughout the night opening and closing the window after one another

okay sO I love peter before the war I think he should be represented more tbh and I wanted to share my ideas bc i got inspired by my wonderful fandom fam ;) ily guys

peter is such a smol soft shy bean?? like he’s just that one adorable kid that keeps to themselves and was alone for a majority of his first year

the marauders felt bad and started talking to him and found out how essential he could be to them with his ideas and all his other quirks

he’S SO ARTSY like his artwork is stunning and he’s the type to just doodle on anything and then the marauders notice and freak out and compliment him and he gets all flustered and thankful

and then when the idea for the marauder’s map comes up you already knOW who’s designing and drawing that Peter would have so much fun by creating something with his dearest friends and finally being included in something and being appreciated 

he’d be such a supportive friend too like???? he finally has awesome friends so he loves them vv much and is down for anything they throw at him

to add to that, hE’S THE BEST DANG WINGMAN WITH JAMES BECAUSE HE’S SO CASUAL WITH IT lily doesn’t even realize what he’s doing until it’s too late because he’s the only one that can talk to her like a normal person

alsO he’d be the one to go above and beyond for remus’s problem like he’d sneak into the kitchen and get aLL THE CHOCOLATE 

he’d also be the most concerned (along with remus) about their pranks and how much trouble james and sirius get into but he’d just roll with it bc what can ya do, it’s james and sirius

when the boys turn into their animagi forms, peter is the one scoping out to see if the coast is clear bc a mouse is normal but a stag and a dog wandering around hogwarts is a bit…. odd

he was the balance of normal with the crazy and usually agreed with remus to have some kind of sanity in the group

he didn’t agree with how james and sirius taunted snape and just sorta… disappeared… when they did bc who would dare cross james or sirius (except lily ofc) 

that being said, he sorta tries to casually calm down james and sirius when they start to get worked up over something when remus isn’t there or if remus is also not thinking clearly (it actually works really well because they don’t realise they’re calming down until it’s too late)

but all of the marauders loved soft boi peter and trusted them with their lives…. and sometimes forgot to show it 

McGonagall realised that James, Sirius and Peter were about to become animagus even before themselves.

There was a morning where she told the class about animagi and something really odd happened. She looked down. The most difficult boys were in complete silence, paying attention, for the first time. Their eyes were wide open in curiosity.

She felt proud of her teaching skills that morning.

Then after class she frowned and sat on her desk, concerned. Thinking. “No no no, they are kids, it’s impossible”. “But why would they be so interested in that subject?” “Because it’s a very interesting subject”. “Everything is under control.” She almost jumped when James Potter appeared at her side. He hadn’t gone yet. He said

“I just wanted to say. That was the best class ever, professor McGonagall.”

“Well, thank you, Potter.”

“No. Thank YOU, professor.”

He literally ran out of the classroom.

She took a deep breath. “What have i done”

Never poke the sleeping Werewolf

Remus Lupin liked being told stories after the full moon. He wasn’t always 100% conscious, but it was a nice distraction

Sometimes James read aloud from “Tales of Beedle the Bard”

Sometimes it was Sirius, telling him about how him and James found the first secret exit through the castle, and almost bumped into Madam Rosmerta.

“But it’s fine, since, ya know, Padfoot has a huge crush on her!”

“Right, because I’M the one who spent half an hour discussing how the national quidditch team could up their performances by switching out Rodric Moore with-”

And Remus would be distracted from his wounds for long enough to drift off into a peaceful slumber.

Madam Pomfrey once caught them all, out of bed, sleeping in Remus’ sick bed. Sirius had fallen asleep, one arm around Remus’ neck, with Remus using his arm as a pillow. James was on the other side, slumped over the side, halfway fallen down the bed, but snoring louder than any of them. Peter had been the only sensible one. He managed to occupy one of the empty beds next to them, but fell asleep propping his head up with one hand, so he could still be a part of the conversation.

Madam Pomfrey knew she should’ve deducted points…But something in her couldn’t help but smile as she saw Remus, sleeping peacefully, surrounded and loved by friends.

No.

Family.

And despite the circumstances. Despite the fresh cuts around his ribcage that she had dressed only hours ago…

He fell asleep with a smile.
