Random idea: Blaze and Amy was in a relationship before Amy's death in a slightly different Sonic 2006 timeline. Cue the reboot, Blaze is one of the few who remembers, but is afraid she would cause Amy's second death while wanting to love her again if she gets too close and Amy just wondering who Blaze is and why she seems so familiar... what could go wrong?

Late addition to this saga but I cannot understate how Sonic Movie 3 is shaping up to be an actual cultural reset. It’s gonna be based on Sonic Adventure 2, one of the lore-heavy Sonic game, and feature Shadow, the lore-heaviest Sonic character by far. The movie series’ cast and crew have history with Shadow, and interviews and concept art for 2 prove that they know the gritty details and want to share them on the big screen.

Sonic game lore goes WAY harder than most people know, and I can’t blame them at all. It stopped mattering a little after Sonic 06 bombed, and since then Sega’s been scared of trying anything similar to it, for better and for worse. They’ve only recently started touching on it again, 15 whole years later. So yeah, most people don’t know what a full, involved Sonic story like, if they know the games tell stories at all.

Which is why Sonic Movie 3 is going to shock the HELL out of people. Because Adventure 2’s plot isn’t just good, it’s shocking. It’s tragic. It’s gruesome at some points. It did for Sonic what Zombie Island did for Scooby-Doo. This is a revelation to most, as that one post’s tags demonstrate.

Now imagine thousands of people witnessing that in theaters around the world, with no warning and possibly against their will. Parents and older siblings dragged into seeing it. Nerdy couples on their first dates. Middle-aged people who only know the Genesis classics. I can see the posts now: complaints about the violence and anti-military stuff on Facebook, all-caps exclamations trending on Twitter, “so was anyone gonna tell me” memes here. It’s gonna be CHAOS, and I can hardly wait.

The Reckoning has an official date, and it’s December 20th, 2024.
