I first saw this image when I was a little boy, in an encyclopedia I think, or perhaps in that iconic vinyl set (image of which I will post eventually, the which would answer this rumin at once), and I was immediately drawn to it. Reinforced as I got a bit older and learned the details of Schubert’s life, especially the poignance of his brief life. But so warm, so cheerful.

OK so not cheerful as in smiling laughing or boisterous exuberance. Cheerful solemnity. Why not.
