Whispers in the Shadows Chapter 1
"I dreamt of a Duchy. It was... Destroyed. I have to save it." Valentia muttered.
Keira gives her a cup of tea and sat down. She takes Valentia's hand and squeezed it.
"Maybe think this through." She said softly.
Lambert put his hand on Keira's shoulder and nodded. Valentia sighed and finished her tea. She stands up.
"I've got to go. I need some air." She said and left the hut.
It was a cold night. Valentia shivered and walked down a path. Birds followed her, worried. Someone jumped out in front of her.
"Boo!" He yelled.
Valentia acted quickly. She kicked him in the guts and the mysterious person doubled over in pain. He took his mask off and Valentia gasped. Jake gives her a smile.
"Hello to you too Val." He said.
"Oh my gods I'm so sorry."
"Eh. It's okay. Now what's wrong? You don't usually take late night walks in the middle of the night." Jake crosses his arms.
Valentia sighed and sat down. Jake sits down next to her. Valentia looked up at the stars. Jake's eyes widen.
"I sense adventure." He said and clapped his hands. "Ohh. What's going on?"
"A Duchy is in trouble."
"And we're going to save it." Jake said with a smile.
"I want to. I feel... A connection with this place."
"Then we shall go." Jake stood and strikes a pose, one hand on his hip and the other pointing at the sky.
Valentia laughed. "How will I save a Duchy?"
"We'll... Look around for clues. Shady people." Jake paces. "We'll go to the duchy!"
"Okay. Then let's go. First, we must pack."
"Leave the food to me." Jake raced off, happy that he got an adventure.
Valentia laughed and walked back to her hut. Keira was in the kitchen, talking to Lambert. When Valentia walked into the hut they looked at her.
"I'm going to save this duchy." Valentia announced. "And you can't stop me."
Lambert walked to her and hugged her. "Be careful then." He whispered.
Valentia nodded and hugged him back. "I will."
Keira smiled and hugged Valentia. "I expect ballads."
Valentia laughed. "Of course mother."
Fourteen minutes later, when the sun was rising, Jake and Valentia were both riding to the duchy, neither knowing the journey that's coming.

Anger and Sadness chapter 2
Roxie, Anna and Geralt raced through Beauclair, going around corners and finally stopping in front of the garden. Roxie materialised beside Anna Henrietta, keeping close to her as she hopped off.
"We must go to where the game is being held. The participants must find a unicorn's horn, a golden fish and a Phoenix egg." Anna said while she ran into the garden, Roxie and Geralt following her. "With these in hand they can find where the Hare, Milton, hides."
"Mean we need to find those things too?" Geralt asked with annoyance.
Roxie didn't blame him. She could've used her powers to find the threat but she didn't have much control over her powers.
"We've no other option. But time is of the essence, so we shall break the rules." Annarietta explained.
They ran to the garden, Roxie sensing a presence that felt way too familiar. She stopped, closed her eyes and breathed in the scent. There it is again! It smelt like... Wood chips and... Cookies baking in the oven... She felt like she should know it. She takes another deep breath in. Blood. The one scent that's usually associated with vampires!
"Rox! Come on! We have no time!" Anna called and Roxie ran after them. They ran into a group of people who turned around and looked at them. Anna stopped and looked around. She grabbed Geralt's arm.
"On second thought, through here." She said and ran in a direction.
Roxie followed her.
"I shall show you where the hunt plays out, then we split." Anna said as they went down a flight of stairs.
Roxie spotted a 'unicorn'. "I'll do the unicorn. I can see it."She turned into mist and floated towards the 'unicorn'. Two people stared at it.
"Perhaps an apple will work? Or some sweets?" An old lady said.
Roxie pushed past them. "Excuse me." She said.
She had an affinity for animals. Which was good. Mostly horses or panthers though. She walked towards the horse slowly and held out her hand, staring into its eyes. Her light blue eyes swirled around then turned into a light pink colour. The horse stopped eating the grass and looked up. They stared at each other in the eyes then the horse walked up to Roxie. He rubbed her hand and sniffed for food. Roxie teleported an apple onto her palm and the horse ate that quickly. Roxie rubbed its nose and took the horn then walked away from the part of the game.
But then the smell of the vampire hit her again. Her curiosity got the better of her and she followed the scent until she got to a greenhouse. Someone was inside the greenhouse. A vampire! He stood over a dead body, claws out. Roxie dropped the horn and misted into the greenhouse. The vampire turned around and saw Roxie. He hissed and ran out of the greenhouse. Roxie gave chase.
They jumped over a balustrade and Roxie did a roll when she hit the ground. She chased the vampire through the streets until they got to a cliff. She thought she had him until he jumped off the cliff, teleporting onto the other side. Roxie did the same. She followed his scent to a warehouse then stopped. He was in there. She knew it. Roxie crept into the warehouse, her nails extending into sharp claws.
She should've brought a hairband. She could sense a fight coming and chastised herself for not bringing a hair brand. Roxie looked around for the vampire then spotted him on the landing above her head. He paced back and forth, his mouth open in a snarl. Roxie tensed.
"Hi." She said shakily, a little out of breath from the exercise. "I'm looking for a vampire. Perhaps you can help?"
The vampire snorted. "Perhaps, Young One. Who's this vampire?" He asked.
"Dett-"
"Roxie! Out of the way!" A voice yelled and Roxie shortened her claws before rolling out of the way.
Geralt rolled into the area and landed in a kneel, his sword in hand. He glared at the vampire. Dammit! Stupid Witchers! Roxie was so close! So close! She got into a lunge and ran to Geralt. "This belong to you, maybe?" Geralt asked as he took the hand from earlier out of his pocket.
"It did. But you may keep it. I've a new one." The vampire answered. "I do not know you. I've done you no harm. Yet first you butchered a bruxa who was very dear to me. Now you pursue me. Why?"
"You've killed four innocent people. At least." Geralt answered.
"And you? How many innocents have you cut down?" The vampire asked as he paced again.
"I don't kill innocents. Murderers, though? You bet."
"I'll soon be done. I've but one left. And you two, should you two not step down." The vampire glared at Roxie.
Roxie raised an eyebrow. She didn't want to hurt him. She didn't! He's a vampire! She's a half vampire! He could help her look for her father! Roxie snarled at him.
"And who is the vampire you are looking for? Half one."
"I guess I'm just bored of this conversation now. Come on you whoreson. Come at me!" She yelled.
The vampire growled and lunged at her. Roxie rolled to the left, feigned an attack to the right and attacked him to the left. The vampire hissed in pain and held his shoulder. Roxie rolled backwards and landed in a crouch. She snapped her head up and raised her eyebrows. But the vampire was now fighting Geralt. The dance between the two was mesmerising.
Roxie twitched her nose at what she might have to do if worst comes to worse. She stood up and ran to the vampire, jumping into the air and doing a twist flip. She swung her nails at him, turning them into subtle claws so the Witcher wouldn't know. She wouldn't want him to think her a monster. Roxie scratched him across the face and the vampire screamed in anger. He threw her against the wall and Roxie hit the wall, sliding down to the floor.
The vampire ran to her and Roxie used the shadows to cloak her. She moved out of the way and stared him in the eyes. Then gasped. His eyes were light blue! Like her father's! The vampire turned his head to her and stabbed her in the chest with his claws. Pain bloomed in her chest and Roxie screamed. She fell to the ground and curled up. Okay. Worst has come to worst. She's going to have to drink blood... She looked up and saw that the vampire was now in the middle of the room. Another vampire was holding him close, while having the light blue eyed vampire's claws stabbed into his chest.
"You were to stay where you were. Regenerate." The blue eyed vampire growled low.
"I know you're in trouble. I can help." The other vampire begged.
"I'll help myself." The vampire yelled.
"No. He's my friend." The vampire begged again.
Roxie looked up and sniffed. From the new vampire she could smell herbs. She liked it. Hopefully he could help her. The blue eyed vampire pulled his claws out of the new vampire's chest, which is now healing, and turned into crimson mist. He moved out of the warehouse and disappeared into the night sky. Roxie groaned.
"Um. Before we all do introductions and shit. Can we... Get some help? For me?" She managed to say through the pain.
She moved close to the shadows to keep Geralt from seeing her regeneration. The vampire turned to Roxie.
"Ahh. I see. Just. Go to sleep young lady." He said.
Roxie snorted and her head fell to the floor. Then she fell into a deep, regenerative sleep.
What do you guys think of this? I hope it's good.
I dislike sensory issues so much cause like one second you're existing then the next you get upset because there's too much everything. Like dude. Can I just exist without hating the taste, smell and sight of eggs?
imagine being a fairy and having acrophobia. You'd just forget that you have it and then you fly like really high up and then all of a sudden you're a having a panic attack because you're terrified. Being a fairy and having acrophobia would suck.
