Finally ! I’m finally done !

Song is We all go the same, by Radical Face (big big thanks to bro @yahtomingan who sent me this with “do you have a fandom where people die ?” Why yes, I do. Thank you for enabling me !)

I’ve wanted to illustrate it for a long, long time because it just…. fits. But it was a huge project, and I staled, until I finally threw myself in it. I took some inspiration from Tardi’s comics about WWI for the color schemes. 

It’s the first time I’ve ever done something so… ambitious .I’ve never drawn a comic (or comic-like thingie) before, so I was very unsure. Surprisingly, I learnt a lot about building the pages, flow, faces, focuses, color theory and surely a ton of other things on the Bad Webcomics Wiki. 

I know that there are probably a lot of errors, anatomy, weapons, etc…. But eh. I also mixed inspirations a little, between the book, the 2012 movie, etc…. following what fit the best. 

I’m still super happy with the result ! (but it was so painful to do)

you didn’t choose to become a leftist. your parents let you watch Newsies and Les Mis at a formative age and you turned out the way you did

the way he looks out of the window… you never know what he’s thinking.

he might be thinking of jumping out to save himself. he might be looking at the soldiers outside, waiting for his corpse. he might be looking at the soldiers carrying the dead bodies of revolutionaries inside the cafe to line them up. he might be looking at the sunrise of his beautiful motherland before he takes his last breath. he might be looking at the dead bodies of his friends, thinking if the revolution was actually worth it.

he then looks back at the soldiers, getting their guns ready to kill him. and it would probably only take about a bullet from a gun to kill him, but no. the revolutionary’s leader is too brave, too fierce to be shot with one bullet and die. so, as he faces the guns that could kill him at any moment, he might be thinking about all the happy times he spent with the amis. he might be feeling regret for those who had a bright future ahead of them. he might be feeling a bit disappointed because he cannot see the bright future of france that might’ve been changed by his actions. he might be feeling the fear of dying, although he was a mighty leader.

then, grantaire, who literally slept through the revolution and decided to die next to him instead of saving his own life, comes next to him so that he could die with enjolras, his great leader.

and maybe, just maybe, enjolras thought that the revolution was worth losing his life for.

i just love george blagden and aaron tveit’s acting in this movie.

We’ve bought a new house. And our new next door neighbours (two delightful gentlemen) will not stop being nice. 

- bought us a seagull proof refuse bag (yes, they are actual things)

- loaned us garden tools when we didn’t have any

- invited us around for Friday night drinks so we could meet the other people on the lane

- one of them brought me a bunch of sweetpea flowers that he’d picked from his garden

- and tomorrow he’s coming to cut our hedge for us with his electric hedge trimmer thing idk, and all I have to do is hold the ladder.

Basically, I am UNSETTLED and am now having to enter into an arms race of niceness and I am already so behind oh god.

Long story short - I just baked a lemon drizzle cake, and it looks great but I can’t even eat it because MR AND MR NICE MUST RECEIVE AN OFFERING.

Just so you know, if we're mutuals on here, I have absolutely refered to you as my friend to other people so that they think I have friends. Even if we've literally never had a conversation. I still call you my friend.
